Motorola Droid X :: Uninstall All Drivers And Start From Scratch
Aug 30, 2010All right guys I'm having all sorts of driver issues. At one time I've been able to take screen shots for my X, use adb, the works. Now for some reason I can't get any of it to work. I'm sure I have a driver conflict somewhere. What I want to do is wipe out all the drivers that are installed for my X and start from scratch like my X has never been plugged into my computer.

Feb 18, 2010Well right now I have a rooted droid thanks to sholesmod and am running bugless beast 0.7.6 at 800. From what I Have read, it is supposed to be one of the fastest ROMs out there. Too be honest, I have almost noticed it to be slower then .7.5. So I have decided to completely erase everything and start completely from scratch. I was going to go back to stock 2.01 and then do a factory restore. Then I was going to reformat my sd card. Would that be the best route to go if I wanted to start from scratch?

It's really great and I love it but I have all kinds of crazy stuff going on, triple contacts, facebook contacts, my gmail account contacts, my business google apps contacts, just things seem kinda out of control since it's my first Android phone. So I'm thinking about just starting with a clean slate, now that I know a lot more about what the phone can do, which calendars to you, which sms program, other apps that are must-haves. Is this a good idea? Will it do anything to my SD card, which has all of my apps backed up?

Jul 4, 2010This questions comes as my team is about to under-go development for a mobile app targeting iphone, android and qt. We aim to complete the iphone version first, and then port to android and qt, and it would be great to know any tips or ideologies to grasp/employ from the outset, that would make the porting process as seamless as possible.
I'm sure there a few of you who have completed their iphone version of an app first, and then gone about developing an android version. I am keen to know any of the hurdles that you encountered, or things you wish you knew from the start.
More specifically, the app we are making will contain forms and some visuals(charts)

May 18, 2010Besides my contacts, nothing got wiped out. Settings, pictures, apps all remained the same and untouched. I thought they were supposed to be wiped automatically? The reason why I feel a little sketched right now is because I got impatient with the update so I did the " *#*#CHECKIN#*#* " method and it worked. Can anyone tell me if it's legit to do that? Also, I've heard I should do a Factory Reset after I receive the update.

Aug 25, 2010This is driving me insane! I cannot seem to get rid of the rom on my phone! I go into the nand and wipe the system, dalvik cache, and ext, yet I can't seem to completely wipe everything! I even went in and removed the partition, then repartitioned the SD card and it came back up into my rom with all my settings intact. Of course the file system was empty when I mounted it to my PC.
I recently tried to blow away the partition and redo it and did all three wipes after and reboot, apparently I missed volume and it installed the xtrrom zip all by itself, despite the fact that partitioning the SD Card should have gotten rid of that.. so after I set it all up, mounted it, and went into the file system, I have one directory called LOST.DIR and nothing else.
What teh hell is going on here?
HTC Droid Eris :: Confirmed 2.1 Will Require A Wipe
May 7, 2010The race is on. Which first-generation Android phone will receive an upgrade to Android 2.1 first?
Many thought Sprint would lead off (with all the noise they made), but they have yet to produce. T-Mobile remains fairly quiet, but they could jump ahead to Android 2.2 since Google is in charge of the software for some of their phones.
Today we learn that Verizon has posted the details for the upcoming Android 2.1 upgrade of the Droid Eris. Customers will receive the update over the air (OTA), which is good so customers don't have to take their phone in to Verizon. Other carriers like Sprint will be release their upgrades over the wire.
Like we predicted, it appears the Android 2.1 upgrade will wipe the internal memory of the phone. Verizon warns customers that they will need to reinstall some applications, their contacts will be erased (don't worry, they are all synced in the clouds), and some phone settings will return to defaults.
The update is mandatory, so customers should start looking at apps to backup their apps (or just re download them from the Market).
No information was proved on when the OTA update would be available, so it could drop at any time. When Verizon released the information for the Droid 2.1 upgrade, it still took several weeks before they finally pushed it out (but they did have delays).
How do you feel about a software upgrade wiping your phone? I don't think it is that big a deal and it will benefit most customers by greatly speeding up their phone. However, I can also understand how many unknowing customers might accidentally delete some piece of data.

May 17, 2010My Droid Eris's battery was low yesterday, and it died before i could charge it. I plugged it in through the night, and this morning when I turned it on, it wouldn't boot up. Well, it turns on, but it gets stuck on the white screen with the three skateboarding androids. I left it like that for about 4 hours, and it still hasn't changed.
I tried removing the battery, and then putting it back in, but that didn't help. Any suggestions?

May 19, 2010Go to menu>settings>applications>manage applications>contacts storage and then delete the data. I backed up my Google contacts on line first by exporting the file just in case. (Not a bad idea anyway, this way you'll have an Excel database with all your contact in case anything should ever happen to your phone). Then resync. It will all go back in without a problem.
I noticed that the file is about 1/2 the size now and I think that's because I didn't sync up all the Facebook data back yet (no photos matching to people, etc.). but I think I'll make sure it all syncs continuously again first, then try adding back in the Facebook info. So far two of the problems were solved by deleting old data (I didn't want to do a factory reset after getting 2.1 just where I wanted it except for the few glitches).

Oct 13, 2010I just noticed this chip/scratch on my screen. It wasn't there yesterday. And nothing happened to my phone, so it's puzzling as to where it came from.
Especially since nothing "happened", I thought the screen was nearly impossible to scratch? Or in this case it's a bit chipped, so that may be the answer. Anyways, here's the picture.
