How many are using a screen protector on your X? Is the screen scratch resistant? Personally I hate them and never had any issue to not having one, but this is a Droid.Oh if you have a screen protector what are you using?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if the screen is scratch resistant like an iphone. I hate putting those screens on the phone. I have looked everywhere trying to find something about it but nothing yet.
View 37 Replies View RelatedHey everyone, I'm new to the forum and was hoping someone might know if the droid 2 has gorilla glass or not. I've searched everywhere and can't find any info on the droid 2's screen material. I know the X and original droid have gorilla glass and was hoping the 2 would as well especially since I just bought one. I have a screen protector on it that I'm not particularly fond of and would take it off if it has gorilla glass.
View 12 Replies View RelatedOk, so now mostly everyone has had time to play with their Droid X, and yet everyone is still worried about possibly scratching the screen on their phone. My question is does the phone has gorilla glass or not?? I saw some Youtube vids where a guy takes a key to the screen and tries to scratch the hell out of it. Yet, not a single visible scratch is seen. Can someone verify that it does have gorilla glass and therefore doesn't really need a screen protector other than for smudge proofing.

View 22 Replies View RelatedSo I ordered a xoskins scratch protector for my droid. It should be here today or tomorrow so my droid is naked right now. Has anyone been able to scratch their gorilla glass? Someone was saying sand can scratch it, but I can't find who said that...
View 49 Replies View RelatedThere has been a lot of discussion about screen protectors - which I have read with interest. Just saw this on Engadget: Corning's darn-near-impenetrable Gorilla glass certainly isn't new -- in fact, we spied it in a few of Motion Computing's tablets just a few months ago -- but it's still not commonplace on mainstream gizmos. Yet. SmartPlanet sat down with Dr. Donnell Walton, senior applications engineer at Corning, in order to discuss the merits of the display technology as well as its importance in the gadget space. The discussion also mentioned that both Motorola's Droid and Dell's Adamo (not to mention Cowon's S9 PMP) are sporting the glass, which acts to make displays "damage-resistant." Not surprisingly, the company is seeing huge demand in the smartphone arena, where touchscreen-centric phones are being shoved into pockets at random and then costing manufacturers big bucks as return rates creep up. It's a pretty interesting read if you're into that type of thing, and yes, we did just give you permission to try and split your Droid display wide open in a moment of frustration. Just don't count on Motorola to accept that as a valid excuse for your RMA.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI haven't found a defining answer on this. I now expect most touch screen smart phones now being made to be made out of an almost unscratchable glass display. I keep hearing from some reviews that the screen scratches really easy. I haven't found a definitive answer on this anywhere and planned on purchasing this as my 1st ever smart phone tomorrow.
View 20 Replies View RelatedFound some interesting scratch tests for the desire on you tube, I'm tempted to rip my screen protector off!
YouTube - LayerSeven's Channel
I was recently told by a Sprint phone "May I speak to a manager" guy that the EVO screen is Gorilla Glass, which he said, "Doesn't really scratch," even though I have a long crack on my EVO screen from just carrying it in my pocket with nothing else. (I've been so Honeymooning over it I haven't put it in my purse or backpack, or even in the same pocket as the headphones I use with it!)
My real question is:
Is there any way I can repair this? The touch screen works fine over the crack, and I can't feel it with the pad of my finger, but it is noticeable when I slight my nail over it. It runs from the start of the glass on the top to over a third of the way down the screen, and shows some pixel reflection, especially on white backgrounds. I'm willing to try at home methods, but do not wish to sand the glass down on the touch screen. If it can't be repaired, does anyone know of any screen protectors that minimize the visibility? I've seen some that bubble on the screen, and others that are so thick they make the scratch stand out.
The iPhone uses some type of hardened glass that is very resistant to scratching. Other people (not me) have tried to scratch it with keys and it just won't do it.
Meanwhile I have an HTC G1 with glass that easily scratches and easily breaks. Its hard to break the glass on the iPhone.
What does HTC use for these Nexus One like phones? (Nexus One, Desire, Incredible, etc). Are they likewise using hardened glass?
If they use hardened glass, chances are you won't have any use for a screen protector.
Is the desire HD Screen scratch resistant or does it need a scratch guard?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI know there are a lot of stories about how tough the glass is and how its pretty much impossible to scratch shame the same does not apply to the actual case.I got an extended life battery for the phone over the weekend and have not had it in any case since then and yesterday i noticed a scratch to the "screen surround". It is on the lip which surrounds the screen and is quite noticeable, it appears the surround is not actually plastic but anodized aluminum as the scratch shines when it catches the light.Has anyone else managed to scratch the surround to the screen (and noticed how easy this is to do)Is there anyway of "repairing" a scratch to aluminum as it seems a shame to have to see this every day on what is a lovely looking phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes any one know if this phone will use Gorilla Glass? I sure hope it will.
View 1 Replies View Relatedanyone know what kind of glass the incredible has?
View 5 Replies View RelatedLast week I contacted HTC and asked them if the Incredible's screen was indeed glass (since whatever they do, it tends to feel like plastic compared to other phones) and whether it had an oleophobic coating. I pretty much knew it was glass already, so I was more interested in the oleophobic coating question. They got back to me today and what they said was quite surprising.
View 49 Replies View RelatedAnyone know if the Vibrant will have Gorilla Glass (like the Droid/Droid X)?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI've been Googling around trying to find some objective information on Gorilla glass with no luck. It's either Corning's promotional material on the subject raving about how you'll never break your phone again, or someone that bought a Droid, cracked it, and they are screaming about how much it sucks. What I'd like to find is some kind of reliable source that has done a study on it. I studied engineering and, from what I remember, we were taught that the harder something was the more brittle it would be. Of course, that was 15 years ago and there's a good chance I'm remembering it wrong. Does anyone know for sure? Have a source you can point me at?

View 49 Replies View RelatedThis thread is for people like me, who ARE NOT using screen protectors. Just wondering if anyone in this forum has any scratches on their Captivate screen and if so, from what? I've had my Captivate since the beginning of August and do not have one scratch on the screen. Feel free to share your stories.
View 49 Replies View Related"Corning today announced that its Gorilla Glass -- an ultra durable alkali-aluminosilicate that can withstand the most uber of scratches is engineered into all Samsung Galaxy S phones. The company even goes as far to say that its product enhances the performance of the already eye-popping brilliant Super AMOLED display. Now, itunderstood that the Gorilla Glass doesn make the screen brighter or crisper, but it certainly does add to the phone premium feature set by giving that beautiful screen some much needed protection. All in all, that Super AMOLED screen isn as fragile as you might think, and this could definitely be seen as another reason to choose Samsung gem over the competition." View 25 Replies View RelatedI was reading about the scratch test (keys, screws, razor, etc.) and how they didn't scratch the screen, but how sand might. I am curious, is it sand specifically, or anything like it, such as dust or lint? Could things like that scratch glass? In other words, can the screen be scratched by slipping the phone into an otherwise empty, clean pants pocket?

View 43 Replies View RelatedAll right guys I'm having all sorts of driver issues. At one time I've been able to take screen shots for my X, use adb, the works. Now for some reason I can't get any of it to work. I'm sure I have a driver conflict somewhere. What I want to do is wipe out all the drivers that are installed for my X and start from scratch like my X has never been plugged into my computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just noticed this chip/scratch on my screen. It wasn't there yesterday. And nothing happened to my phone, so it's puzzling as to where it came from.
Especially since nothing "happened", I thought the screen was nearly impossible to scratch? Or in this case it's a bit chipped, so that may be the answer. Anyways, here's the picture.

Well right now I have a rooted droid thanks to sholesmod and am running bugless beast 0.7.6 at 800. From what I Have read, it is supposed to be one of the fastest ROMs out there. Too be honest, I have almost noticed it to be slower then .7.5. So I have decided to completely erase everything and start completely from scratch. I was going to go back to stock 2.01 and then do a factory restore. Then I was going to reformat my sd card. Would that be the best route to go if I wanted to start from scratch?
