How do you make the keyboard keys light up when typing? I had it at one time when you touch a key on the keyboard it would light blue. Now I cant get it to do it anymore.

I'm on my 3rd Eris - replaced each one for the silent bug. This one hasn't gone silent yet, but the soft keys (home, menu, back, and search) don't light up. Major PITA when using the phone at night. When I took it back to Verizon,they said the buttons aren't supposed to light up. Now I'm second guessing myself. So, can someone with an Eris check it out on your phone and see if the buttons light up? Is there a setting for this that I'm missing? BTW - This last replacement shipped with 2.1 installed and hboot 1.49.
View 15 Replies View RelatedHas anybody found a way to make the trackball blink for various other notifications other than SMS and eMail? I use google talk all the time and I would love to have the trackball light blink slowly (just like the normal alert for a waiting SMS message) when I receive a google talk message that I haven't read. Or how about gMail? They light up the notification led blinking green but there is no trackball notification. I'm actually quite surprised there doesn't seem to be any setting I can find to make the trackball blink for various notifications. My phone's already rooted so that should expand my options but I haven't found anybody that's done this yet.

(im dialing a US number)... is there something else I can use.. I dont use google voice because i have an account with skype and most friends of mine do to... are they any work arounds for this?

When I'm typing really fast and drag my fingers to type "saw" for example with just my left thumb I'll catch the bottom left of the W key while the A is pressed down and it'll lift up and make a popping noise. I'm worried eventually I'll snap the W off the keyboard.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if any of you had my issue. I have tried many different keyboards and all of them are the same thus I suspect its hardware flaw. It is completely frustrating to type on my evo! When I type really fast it won't detect my 4th stroke even though my evo registers that I hit it. So when I type in "stupid" accurately it comes out "stupd", missing the even though it acknowledges I hit it.

When i am typing the keys almost seem to stick, i no tht is not possible as iot is a virtual keyboard, but i think you get the jist of what i am trying to say. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm guessing this is because the light detector determines I have plenty of light and thus decides that I don't need them to glow. But really, it's just annoying, as in direct light, i can't see the keys whatsover thanks to glare. Thus, my questions: 1. is it normal for the soft key lights to turn off? and 2. is there any way to override this and have them on at all times?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had the Droid for a week now...I m droid number 2 the first one the touch screen would not work. I am coming from a Blackberry curve. The droid Im finding is hard to text on. I have to text one handed (don't ask why..) so the phyical keypad does me no good. Is there a way to make the keys bigger on the touchscreen? I did 2300+ texts last month so I really need it to be easier to hit the keys. Also i find the words I've already texted are very small compared to the BB curve anyone have any thoughts on that. This may be too much phone for me..i love the apps amd how superfast it it. but the texting is a issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThey still light up when I boot up or shut down the phone, but apart from that they stay off the entire time. I originally thought it was a hardware problem, but it looks like my replacement phone had the same problem when I restored my backup.
Of course, I looked in the settings and it's not set to "always off". So what could be the culprit? If it's my configuration, I wouldn't know where to start. I do know that I mainly use Go Launcher EX and am running the 327b or so version of the Synergy ROM.
Is there a setting in LP or any apps that would allow me to toggle off and on the soft keys when a new notification comes in? Anytime I get an email or text the soft keys stay lit until I check the message.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSometimes with my Eris when I try to type a text message or make a phone call, nothing shows up. I can press the letters and see the auto-correct as if its typing, but on the message bar, there are no words being typed. For making a call I can type in numbers, but when I press call, nothing happens, whenever this happens I have to wait a few minutes before it starts to register the typing again and sometimes i have to restart my phone all together. Is this happening to anybody else? And, if so, does anybody have a fix?

I use Handcent to text, and it seems to lag alot. I'm not the fastest typer in the world, so I'm not sure why this is, but it always takes a few seconds to show up what I've typed and it used to be instant. Is there something I can do to make it quick again?

The dictionary will come up as if I am typing the word but no actual letters will have been typed. I've tried with both the stock keyboard and better keyboard but it wont work until I restart the phone.

Almost every time I try to send a text, I'll get about halfway through typing it, and the program will just go back to the previous page without warning. I lose the text and I have to start over. This happens EVERY time I try to send a sms to a group. (Which means I can't send a group text ever, which is frustrating).

My eris for some reason changes pages and slides on its own when im not touching it. and when i hold the phone its gets worse. How can i fix this? Another thing. When im typing sometimes the thing that says were the letters go moves and my words look all messed up. Example: im typing the word mississippi.. and halfway Threw the word it moves making it look like this --> sippimissis.. i dont eventouch that part of the screen.. one last thing.. when im ussing the internet on. my eris sometimes the phone clicks things randomly. It presses random buttons by its self :/ seems to me theres a senor/ touch problem. How can i fix all this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBoth the sense and multitouch keyboards lag to high hell in the google voice app. I even tried the leaked apk for the new version with widgets and its even worse.handcent, gmail, everything else is perfect. GV is my main texting app now so its a pretty big annoyance for me, especially when I'm texting while something else is running in the background.
