I am not sure if this is a handset problem or a software problem. When i am typing the keys almost seem to stick, i no tht is not possible as iot is a virtual keyboard, but i think you get the jist of what i am trying to say. Is there anyway of correcting that or is there a better like for like keyboard out there that i can use.

I've done this several times with the W key on the keyboard. When I'm typing really fast and drag my fingers to type "saw" for example with just my left thumb I'll catch the bottom left of the W key while the A is pressed down and it'll lift up and make a popping noise. I'm worried eventually I'll snap the W off the keyboard.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was smsing this morning on my HTC Hero using the normal virtual keyboard that came with the phone. But all of a sudden, the keyboard changed into something different.
The keys became smaller, the number keys are with the alphabet keys(on top), and there is an extra key to toggle to tamil(?) characters. And when I type, there is no more 'feedback' from the screen. The auto correct feature is gone too. how to get my old virtual keyboard back?
Can someone do a favor for me: open the stock Messages app, open up one of your ALREADY EXISTING threads (dont click "new message"), and try to type really fast. Is there keyboard lag? For me, there is a lot of keyboard lag. It's so slow that, sometimes the autocorrect box does not pop up in time, and I'm just typing freely without corrections.

It is completely frustrating to type on my evo! When I type really fast it won't detect my 4th stroke even though my evo registers that I hit it. So when I type in "stupid" accurately it comes out "stupd", missing the even though it acknowledges I hit it.

So, when I want to correct a typing mistake I have to stab my finger somewhere to the right of the error then backspace over the error (usually deleting a few correct characters in the process) before retyping. When I first got the phone I was really impressed by the Keyboard and the speed at which I could type. But since the update it is really slow and keys on the right edge of the screen (especially delete) don't register at all sometimes.
I have calibrated the keyboard but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
How do you make the keyboard keys light up when typing? I had it at one time when you touch a key on the keyboard it would light blue. Now I cant get it to do it anymore.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Huawei Honor U8860, which is rooted and running Miui 3.1.11. I experience an annoying problem with the keyboard. Here is what happens.
Any time I am entering text, whether i'm texting, facebooking, emailing, navigating, googling, etc, the standard android keyboard disappears while i'm typing. It's very random and not consistent. Sometimes I can type normal and sometimes only 10secs before it happens. Then I'll have to wait to get the keyboard reappear. After the keyboard reappears it may stay up for 10 sec before it disappear again.
I have tried installing Touchpal Keyboard. It works fine in the beginning, but after a while the problem come back and the keyboard disappears.
I'm using z2 keyboard and when I flash a new rom then the "learned" typing behaviour get's lost + learned words...
i bet there is a way to keep it, i just need to know where the files are located..
So is there an easy way to type the word "I'll". I have to upper case the letters then type "I", then switch to the symbols and type ', then back to the letters to type "ll". This just seems way to much for a little word. My BB Tour would recognize so much easier. If there is no easy way to type it, wonder if Froyo will fix it.

Sometimes it does not do it on it's own and I'm having to view things while the keyboard is there. If I hit the "back" button on the bottom of the EVO, it takes me to the previous page and if I hold the "menu" button down it pulls up the browser's menu. What am I doing wrong if anything?

The better keyboard application is better than the stock keyboard in almost every way. But there is one big problem with it that I've found, and that's that it has trouble registering two nearby keys tapped in rapid succession, often registering neither of them. If I try and type "that" with two fingers, I'll often just get "th"-- it interprets left thumb pressing "a" and right thumb pressing "t" as... nothing, I guess.

1. I'm coming from an iPod Touch keyboard and have been continuously hitting the period that is next to the space bar. Does anyone know if there is any way to remove certain keys from the keyboard? I really don't need a period and comma right next to the space bar on the alpha side. I know it's nit picky, but I like having a bigger space bar. 2. I've noticed when logging into websites that require a Username and Password that I am having to remove the keyboard when I go from the Username field to the Password field. On my iPod there was a "Next" feature that would automatically advance the cursor. Am I missing something on the Incredible? Didn't see anything available for switching data fields.
I am at a little over a day with my first smartphone, the Incredible.I'm mostly impressed, but this keyboard issue is really bugging me. Basically, here's what happens: I go to compose a message, I turn the device to landscape mode, and when I press the W key, it does not input regardless of where I push relative to the key. On rare occasions, it will work, but I can't think of anything that I might have done to fix the problem.I tried to sleep/resume, power off/on, remove/replace battery, and calibrate the text input, but there seems to not be any resolution.Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone figure it out? I'd hate to exchange the phone for this one thing, but you don't realize how often you need the W until it won't function!

While reading the kbd_qwerty.xml file I noticed the different tags used and explained here. I was expecting to see certain tag to reproduce what BetterKeyboard application does. They draw more than one key on each button. Example.
Are they adding images or this is somehow possible from the xml?
I was extremely excited to get my Froyo upgrade, because our work website to download sales numbers, etc uses Flash (another problem in itself). The web page loads to the login, and I can place the cursor into the user name field but no keyboard pops up to enter data into. Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhile I -am- enjoying it to a degree, I am getting bloody tired of needing an apostrophe, clicking the "12#" button, and having it put an automatic SPACE as soon as I push it, which requires me to backspace, then add apostrophe, then back out to the letters. I'm a gal who can type pretty damn fast, even on a phone, so this is really ticking me off since I'll look up several lines later and see a catastrophe of misplaced spaces in my words before apostrophe. If you type a text or sentence and you look back and notice that a word you tried to type got switched to a different word because of a missed key or just because of the predictive text, instead of moving the cursor back and erasing, you can just click on that word. This brings up the original suggestions along with what you actually typed even if you've moved past this word. Maybe the original Droid had this? I came from an HTC Droid Eris.

But in some programs I use (e.g. Tasker / Jotro) the swype keyboard pops up when I click a text field (as it should), but if I'm done, sometimes it shows a "done" button on the swype keyboard itself (and when I click on that, the swype keyboard dissappears), but sometimes, there isn't a done key on the keyboard (only an enter key which gives a new line in the text field I'm editing) and I can't scroll in the program to the save/done button in the program itself to save what I just typed. Does someone know whether there is a quick way to get rid of the Swype keyboard after I finished typing?
My (frustrating workaround) is to go to Swype options, press back, and the swype keyboard is gone.
