Has anyone had issues when texting where the text doesn't show up. I use Handcent but even when i revert back to the stock app it still remains. It usually happens when i get 3-5 msgs in quick succession, but sometimes just happens right after i wake it from sleep. Any fixes?

I text. A lot. It's very irritating when the keyboard on the Eris can't keep up with how fast I type. I'll be finished with my message, and the last few words take 1-3 seconds to show up, which is fine I suppose. However, when I make some errors, the auto-correct feature doesn't work because apparently my typing speed is too quick for it.
Everything works fine when I type slowly, but that's annoying too.
I barely have any apps besides the stock ones. In running services I only have the calendar, Google Voice, Touch Input, and BatteryTime running. I don't use any app killer, I have animations and haptic feedback turned off. I don't know what else I can do to speed this phone up.
This problem, the lag in switching from portrait to landscape, and the lag with calls is really making me want to sell my Eris and purchase the Incredible, or I may wait until the "Moto Droid X" releases in July....or is that just a rumor?
Just wondering if there is anyway to set my phone in such a way that my ring tone will turn off when I open the phone (either unlock/ do anything to the phone). As it is right now my ring tone (a full mp3 song imported from my pc) will play until I drag down my notification bar. I'm using tone picker and handcent sms if it makes any difference.
Also, is there a way to edit the the keyboard input sound when typing with the stock keyboard?
Ever since moving from 1.5 to 2.1, I use Dolphin browser btw, and I start typing in the google.com search box...I no longer get suggestions or typing help. Drives me CRAZY.

Does anyone know how to get your Eris to show the saved contacts picture to show up in MMS and Phone calls? If I dial their number sometimes it shows up and sometimes doesn't. In never shows up in text messaging.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSometimes with my Eris when I try to type a text message or make a phone call, nothing shows up. I can press the letters and see the auto-correct as if its typing, but on the message bar, there are no words being typed. For making a call I can type in numbers, but when I press call, nothing happens, whenever this happens I have to wait a few minutes before it starts to register the typing again and sometimes i have to restart my phone all together. Is this happening to anybody else? And, if so, does anybody have a fix?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use the Handcent SMS and the LED color (blue) and it worked perfectly fine. I set the color to a custom color now and when I get a text, the LED for SMS doesn't show up. I also have the custom color off now too. I also have Missed Call. I used it to set a color for the SMS LED, but it still does not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent to text, and it seems to lag alot. I'm not the fastest typer in the world, so I'm not sure why this is, but it always takes a few seconds to show up what I've typed and it used to be instant. Is there something I can do to make it quick again?

The dictionary will come up as if I am typing the word but no actual letters will have been typed. I've tried with both the stock keyboard and better keyboard but it wont work until I restart the phone.

My email address is rather long and since this is used as the login for just about everything, it's tedious to type with an on-screen keyboard. On my Mac, I use QuicKeys to set short key combinations that will type various things like addresses, phone numbers, emails, etc. that I use all the time. Is there an equivalent in the Android world?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen i turn my phone horizontally the keyboard comes up with no problem, then when i begin to type on it the letters/words do not show up until i turn it back vertically and then i am able to read what i wrote. any ideas why this might be happening...or how to fix it? its a new phone i just got for christmas, and the horizontal keyboard only stopped working a few days ago.

Almost every time I try to send a text, I'll get about halfway through typing it, and the program will just go back to the previous page without warning. I lose the text and I have to start over. This happens EVERY time I try to send a sms to a group. (Which means I can't send a group text ever, which is frustrating).

My eris for some reason changes pages and slides on its own when im not touching it. and when i hold the phone its gets worse. How can i fix this? Another thing. When im typing sometimes the thing that says were the letters go moves and my words look all messed up. Example: im typing the word mississippi.. and halfway Threw the word it moves making it look like this --> sippimissis.. i dont eventouch that part of the screen.. one last thing.. when im ussing the internet on. my eris sometimes the phone clicks things randomly. It presses random buttons by its self :/ seems to me theres a senor/ touch problem. How can i fix all this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I start a new thread for sending a text, I look up the person in my contact list. The problem is that for some people I have multiple points of contact. (ie cell phone, home phone, fax, email address) Let's say that I want to text a person named Jason. If I have 6 people in my contact list named Jason, by the time I type in the 5 letters in Jason (I haven't limited it by their last name yet) I could still have 24 contacts, if every one of those Jason's had a cell, home, fax, and email in my contact list.
Is it possible to have my phone or the settings on my contact list or settings in my texting/messaging application set so that only mobile phones show up in the contact list when Im IN the texting application?
Even if there is a unique name I don't like having to select that person's cell number contact - as opposed to their email, fax, or home contact when I just want to send a quick text.
I recently took my phone from Froyo and loaded back the stock 2.1 build.. This was yesterday and the phone has been fine But about an hour ago 3G no longer connects and I cant do any text messages. Any idea what could be wrong. I am re flashing 2.1 back on the phone again right now to see if that makes a difference..
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince I "accepted" the upgrade last sunday (the 16th), I've noticed whenever I send a text I get a quick vibration and a notice in the status bar that the message was sent successfully. Used to be I only got a notice if the message failed (like when I had a poor signal) and then I could re-send when my signal improved... I, personally, find this "message sent successfully" a bit annoying. I looked and looked in the settings, but can't seem to locate where to change this. Can someone help, or am I stuck with this? And, please, if you prefer this new way, let's just agree to disagree right off the bat. You may like it, but I just prefer the "old" way.

My ERIS adds words (usually misspelled) to the dictionary every so often and I need to get in there and clean things up.I type a lot faster than the keyboard can accept keystrokes, so sometimes I notice a misspelled word back about 3-4 lines that I never typed and didn't intend to have in my sentence. It's frustrating but I'm sure there's a fix to it.Thanks to everyone who is providing such helpful information. But when I try to dictate on my native language, Spanish, it won't recognize commands such as "question mark", "comma", or things like that. If I say them in Spanish, it will write the whole thing, ie: "Signo de exclamacion"...I just want it to be able to transcribe it to a "!" sign, a "?", etc. I also attempted to say them in English (while dictating Spanish), it will just get confused.
