Sometimes when I type it wont fill in whatever field that I am typing in whether its a text message, search, or web page. The dictionary will come up as if I am typing the word but no actual letters will have been typed. I've tried with both the stock keyboard and better keyboard but it wont work until I restart the phone.

Just wondering if there is anyway to set my phone in such a way that my ring tone will turn off when I open the phone (either unlock/ do anything to the phone). As it is right now my ring tone (a full mp3 song imported from my pc) will play until I drag down my notification bar. I'm using tone picker and handcent sms if it makes any difference.
Also, is there a way to edit the the keyboard input sound when typing with the stock keyboard?
Does anyone know of an app that will automatically type a specified string of text? My email address is rather long and since this is used as the login for just about everything, it's tedious to type with an on-screen keyboard. On my Mac, I use QuicKeys to set short key combinations that will type various things like addresses, phone numbers, emails, etc. that I use all the time. Is there an equivalent in the Android world?

Almost every time I try to send a text, I'll get about halfway through typing it, and the program will just go back to the previous page without warning. I lose the text and I have to start over. This happens EVERY time I try to send a sms to a group. (Which means I can't send a group text ever, which is frustrating).

View 10 Replies View RelatedFor the past week or so I've been having issues with the bottom left corner of my touch screen (in portrait). If I am typing a text I cant select the letter Z or the shift/caps key. I also have a hard time selecting shortcuts in that corner. I am running the 1st 2.1 leak if that makes any difference. Is anyone experiencing touchscreen issues that may have any solutions or should I get a replacement? Does anyone think the OTA might fix this? BTW, I've calibrated my phone several times to no avail. It also happens in landscape but it shifts to the bottom right corner of course!

Verizon Droid Eris (stock, 1.5 i think): tap the magnifying glass to search the web. use the 9-key phone pad method of text input.
What happened."XT9" text input is locked. only "ABC" or "abc" available. What you think the correct behavior should be. All android applications and functions that accept text input should support XT9 predictive texting for the 9-key phonepad and compact-qwerty. The google folks said the following: "Android does not contain a T-9 input method by default. Please report this bug to HTC, owners of that particular piece of software."And then HTC said the following: Hello Ben Thank you for contacting HTC technical support about the abc/xt9 being greyed out. I have checked on this for you and found that is how the device is set up when using these areas on the apps. There is no way of changing this and I do apologize for that. When entering google searches and also browser addresses predictive text is not available for input. If you have any other questions feel free to reply. I use the phone pad style to text. ABC. Since I installed 2.1 it automatically sticks the phone on xt9. I have to toggle it to ABC before every text. Ive tried like 3 different text apps. They all do the same thing.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was using xtrSense briefly right before I switched to KaosFroyo v31 and I must say I was very impressed with the responsiveness of xtrSense.That would be my first choice ROM for anyone wanting an Android 2.1 ROM with Sense.Since I switched to KaosFroyo I'm loving Android 2.2 (and missing my HTC sense weather widget,) however it's a good deal less responsive than xtrSense. I turned off JIT because I wanted to go the most stable route, and switched back to LauncherPro.Mostly I notice the reduced responsiveness when typing on the soft keyboard and when switching from portrait to landscape.What's the best way to improve responsiveness in KaosFroyo without overclocking more than "stock?"
View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay, so I know that Google changed the way we choose our keyboards/input methods in ICS, so instead of long-pressing a text-area, we can pull down the notification menu, and choose "select input type"...
However, when I'm typing something while within the default Internet browser, I can't see the notification bar, nor can I find a way to switch input methods... I generally use Swype as my default keyboard, but sometimes need to switch to the stock keyboard. How to accomplish this without leaving the browser?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes with my Eris when I try to type a text message or make a phone call, nothing shows up. I can press the letters and see the auto-correct as if its typing, but on the message bar, there are no words being typed. For making a call I can type in numbers, but when I press call, nothing happens, whenever this happens I have to wait a few minutes before it starts to register the typing again and sometimes i have to restart my phone all together. Is this happening to anybody else? And, if so, does anybody have a fix?

My eris for some reason changes pages and slides on its own when im not touching it. and when i hold the phone its gets worse. How can i fix this? Another thing. When im typing sometimes the thing that says were the letters go moves and my words look all messed up. Example: im typing the word mississippi.. and halfway Threw the word it moves making it look like this --> sippimissis.. i dont eventouch that part of the screen.. one last thing.. when im ussing the internet on. my eris sometimes the phone clicks things randomly. I turned off Audible Touch Tones, Hepatic Feedback & Audible Selection..... It only makes this noise when I'm typing (ie. texts, emails & dialing).

GV is my main texting app now so its a pretty big annoyance for me, especially when I'm texting while something else is running in the background.

It seems like the Eris can't keep up w my typing and it causes delays and issues when typing messages, etc. Not sure if its the hepatic feedback or the correcting, but its frustrating at times. View 23 Replies View RelatedI text. A lot. It's very irritating when the keyboard on the Eris can't keep up with how fast I type. I'll be finished with my message, and the last few words take 1-3 seconds to show up, which is fine I suppose. However, when I make some errors, the auto-correct feature doesn't work because apparently my typing speed is too quick for it.
Everything works fine when I type slowly, but that's annoying too.
I barely have any apps besides the stock ones. In running services I only have the calendar, Google Voice, Touch Input, and BatteryTime running. I don't use any app killer, I have animations and haptic feedback turned off. I don't know what else I can do to speed this phone up.
This problem, the lag in switching from portrait to landscape, and the lag with calls is really making me want to sell my Eris and purchase the Incredible, or I may wait until the "Moto Droid X" releases in July....or is that just a rumor?
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that they're message typing skills have gone down with 2.1? I seem to get way more typos.
I seem to have noticed that the touchscreen accuracy has reduced with this build, so I think that's part of it, but I'm also wondering if the typing prediction isn't as good as 1.5 was? I just typing doong, meaning to get doing, but it didn't change it. In fact, of the options it did give me for that, "doing" wasn't one of them.
Is it just me being critical knowing it's a beta build, or is anyone else noticing these?
And I've already recalibrated the keyboard and the g-force.
All of a sudden when I type a phone number, I get sound when I press the numbers.. I know I had shut this off before but cant figure out where...
