Anyone else experiencing this? I love the keyboard, but when I type a post here on the forum I have severe lag when pressing keys, sometimes 3 to 4 seconds. only in landscape.

I'm having real trouble with scrolling and typing out posts in this forum. It was bad before the addition of froyo and flash but now it is unbearable.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI discovered something unusual today. I've been using a lot of the physical keyboard, especially for long winded texts and e-mails. I have tried and tried to get used to the landscape on-screen keyboard to no avail. I've tried Better Keyboard (and yes, it's better), and the HTC keyboard (that unfortunately doesn't fill the screen). They both have their benefits, but I cannot accurately and consistently type out a message on any of them. My problems: If I type too fast, half of the letters don't register. I've tried pressing harder, using a lighter touch, neither had any affect. I can't get used to the position I need to have my thumb in to actually register clicking certain letters on the keyboard. I always think I've got it, but then I look up at what I just typed (I find myself staring at the keys I'm pressing to make sure they're the right ones) and it is complete gibberish. Where I'm going with this, anyways, is the portrait keyboard. I used it a few times today just out of laziness, I didn't feel like turning the screen or opening up the device to use the physical. I noticed something unusual; I don't make the same mistakes on this tiny little keyboard, and I can actually type relatively quickly. My sentences weren't coming out meaningless, and I wasn't seeing unregistered presses. So my question to you is this - has anybody else noticed similar problems? I don't really think it's a fault of the phone. I think I'm just not used to on-screen keyboards (never used one before) and thus cannot type well on it. I'm hoping that - at some point - a multi-touch enabled keyboard comes out, because I feel like some of my problems are due to hitting two keys in rapid succession, and having one or both not register. Until then, I will continue to practice with it, but I just can't figure out why I can type on the tiny portrait keyboard and not on the full landscape version.

I sort of feel bad for all the 1.5 users that come on here only to find 100 new 2.1 threads a day, why not just make another forum section specifically for 2.1 users? Just a suggestion.

First, the entire window is taken up by the input screen and the keyboard, so
you don't get to see what your partner is typing (other than an abbreviated preview in the notification bar).
Second, every time you press 'enter' to send the message, the keyboard disappears. This can be a good and bad thing depending on what you're trying to do. But, most often, it interrupts the flow of the conversation and slows me down.
I wish there was a way to change this...
Why is this phone so slow that you cant even post a message to this forum from it? I tried posting a message to this forum and the keyboard is so slow you can only type like 1 letter per second. Have the same issue with other forums as well. This phone is garbage.

Sometimes with my Eris when I try to type a text message or make a phone call, nothing shows up. I can press the letters and see the auto-correct as if its typing, but on the message bar, there are no words being typed. For making a call I can type in numbers, but when I press call, nothing happens, whenever this happens I have to wait a few minutes before it starts to register the typing again and sometimes i have to restart my phone all together. Is this happening to anybody else? And, if so, does anybody have a fix?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent to text, and it seems to lag alot. I'm not the fastest typer in the world, so I'm not sure why this is, but it always takes a few seconds to show up what I've typed and it used to be instant. Is there something I can do to make it quick again?

The dictionary will come up as if I am typing the word but no actual letters will have been typed. I've tried with both the stock keyboard and better keyboard but it wont work until I restart the phone.

My email address is rather long and since this is used as the login for just about everything, it's tedious to type with an on-screen keyboard. On my Mac, I use QuicKeys to set short key combinations that will type various things like addresses, phone numbers, emails, etc. that I use all the time. Is there an equivalent in the Android world?

Almost every time I try to send a text, I'll get about halfway through typing it, and the program will just go back to the previous page without warning. I lose the text and I have to start over. This happens EVERY time I try to send a sms to a group. (Which means I can't send a group text ever, which is frustrating).

My eris for some reason changes pages and slides on its own when im not touching it. and when i hold the phone its gets worse. How can i fix this? Another thing. When im typing sometimes the thing that says were the letters go moves and my words look all messed up. Example: im typing the word mississippi.. and halfway Threw the word it moves making it look like this --> sippimissis.. i dont eventouch that part of the screen.. one last thing.. when im ussing the internet on. my eris sometimes the phone clicks things randomly. I turned off Audible Touch Tones, Hepatic Feedback & Audible Selection..... It only makes this noise when I'm typing (ie. texts, emails & dialing).

View 3 Replies View RelatedBoth the sense and multitouch keyboards lag to high hell in the google voice app. I even tried the leaked apk for the new version with widgets and its even worse.handcent, gmail, everything else is perfect. GV is my main texting app now so its a pretty big annoyance for me, especially when I'm texting while something else is running in the background.

It seems like the Eris can't keep up w my typing and it causes delays and issues when typing messages, etc. Not sure if its the hepatic feedback or the correcting, but its frustrating at times. View 23 Replies View RelatedI text. A lot. It's very irritating when the keyboard on the Eris can't keep up with how fast I type. I'll be finished with my message, and the last few words take 1-3 seconds to show up, which is fine I suppose. However, when I make some errors, the auto-correct feature doesn't work because apparently my typing speed is too quick for it.
Everything works fine when I type slowly, but that's annoying too.
I barely have any apps besides the stock ones. In running services I only have the calendar, Google Voice, Touch Input, and BatteryTime running. I don't use any app killer, I have animations and haptic feedback turned off. I don't know what else I can do to speed this phone up.
This problem, the lag in switching from portrait to landscape, and the lag with calls is really making me want to sell my Eris and purchase the Incredible, or I may wait until the "Moto Droid X" releases in July....or is that just a rumor?
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that they're message typing skills have gone down with 2.1? I seem to get way more typos.
I seem to have noticed that the touchscreen accuracy has reduced with this build, so I think that's part of it, but I'm also wondering if the typing prediction isn't as good as 1.5 was? I just typing doong, meaning to get doing, but it didn't change it. In fact, of the options it did give me for that, "doing" wasn't one of them.
Is it just me being critical knowing it's a beta build, or is anyone else noticing these?
And I've already recalibrated the keyboard and the g-force.
All of a sudden when I type a phone number, I get sound when I press the numbers.. I know I had shut this off before but cant figure out where...

threw me off this morning when i tried to get on. just thought it was weird that they would need to change the URL after its been up for so long.
For the past week or so I've been having issues with the bottom left corner of my touch screen (in portrait). If I am typing a text I cant select the letter Z or the shift/caps key. I also have a hard time selecting shortcuts in that corner. I am running the 1st 2.1 leak if that makes any difference. Is anyone experiencing touchscreen issues that may have any solutions or should I get a replacement? Does anyone think the OTA might fix this? BTW, I've calibrated my phone several times to no avail. It also happens in landscape but it shifts to the bottom right corner of course!
