HTC Incredible :: Root - Wireless N Hack Using Recovery Tool?
Jun 24, 2010once we get root and install the recovery tool, we'll never have to go through the loop process again to get into recovery. I feel like that's a major newb question but just wanted to make sure. If that's the case, can somebody list or point me to the procedure to do the wireless N hack using the recovery tool? Just read in the thread below how some users might be having problems with wireless teather after doing the "N" hack. If this is the case, perhaps it's best to skip it altogether.

Aug 4, 2010I just unrooted and installed the leaked radio update so i would have less bugs with the froyo ROMS.
I installed the radio perfectly fine, but now unrevoked isn't working for me. I deleted all of the previous files and reinstalled them (sdk folder, usb drivers, reflash)
when i run the reflash tool, it gets stuck after rebooting, says "waiting for reboot..."
As the phone rebooted, it changed to "Flashing recovery image. Do not touch your phone!" but instead of into recovery, it just continued to restart the phone as usual

Nov 11, 2010My Evo is rooted, but I have lost my recovery image. Attempts to re flash recovery via ROM Manager and ADB both failed. I now have a task bar message saying the card is mounted read only. I put it in an adapter, plugged into my PC and ran Check Disk, which appeared to restore R/W status. I then put it back in the phone, rebooted and tried to flash a new image with ROM Manager, I have the read only issue again. I still have root, root apps still receive SU permissions, but I have no nand access and cannot re flash CWM or Amon.

I am getting constant updates from my gmail saying I have a new email, when my inbox is the same. Do I need to reflash? I'm using one of the original patched versions.

I intend to RESET my phone clean and then root it.
Question -- does anybody know if Shazam will remember my "grandfathered" status and let me enjoy the unlimited tags?
I never registered with Shazam on their website, so I don't even have a registered account with Shazam.com
HTC Eris :: Re-root For Recovery Partition
May 3, 2010I am pretty sure I have root, as if I open emulator and SU It goes $ to #. I am running build "2.19.605.1 CL123435 test_keys" and everything seems stable. It's funny that I'm running 2.1 because I never flashed the ROM, I couldn't get past recovery partition set-up.
When I try to press power+up volume all I get is the yellow triangle exclamation point with the android cartoon. This is where I stopped on my first attempt. When I powered the phone back up, it's running 2.1.
Can I re-download the recovery partition .zips and re-flash the root ROM to start all over? I'm thinking my DL's of some of the recovery images may have been corrupted. I'm thinking since I have root, re-flashing the root ROM shouldn't hurt anything right?
Kinda green here, it took me a long time to realize why there a bunch of different files with the same name, but not the same contents (pmb). I'm assuming that's the only filename that the boot loader will recognize.

Aug 14, 2013Am I wrong in thinking that a dd based tool would be better than having to rely on a 3rd party recovery? If you used to dd, you wouldn't have to deal with any of that stuff right? Could you not just make images of all the partitions of your device and store them on your computer as backup? Then if you get bricked, could you not use those images again and just re-image the drive?
That's the problem I'm having with my device. My buttons will no longer function so I can't flash anything in the recovery and using Odin (Samsung) to flash works but no existing roms or kernels that I can find will fix the touchscreen.
However, I can access the device through ADB and I'm assuming I could get the device to show its partitions on Linux right? So then could I use someone else's existing partitions and re-image those on my device?

Oct 21, 2010Well I got bored again and made a recovery flasher for linux. Amazing Flashing SH Script! This a a very simple script with 3 functions, to flash clockwork, amonRA, and reboot into recovery. Simply unpack the zip and chmod +X flasher (or chmod 777) This has ADB included. I dont have an ally to test, but I tested it with my incredible from a liveCD environment at work, so I know you dont need adb or drivers for this to work.
usage:
flasher -c
Flash Clockwork
flasher -a
Flash AmonRA
flasher -r
Reboot to Recovery
Your phone will need to be plugged into the pc via USB, with debugging on and the sdcard not mounted on the pc

Sep 10, 2010I think where I messed up was I then installed ROM Manager from the market to try to get overclocked. Before I did any searching or downloading for kernels, I tried to do a backup using ROM Managers Clockwork utility.It constantly crashed my phone; I didn't get one successful backup.So I was going to try using SPRecovery, but when I turn off my phone, then turn it on holding the X key, the Motorola logo stays there forever, blinks, and then reappears again. I have to release the X key for it to get passed the logo, but then it just boots normally.I've already uninstalled ROM Manager, but do I need to do anything different so I can use SPRecovery?I'm thinking my phone is confused as to which backup/recovery mode to launch.Did I just mess up my phone?I'm a total noob at this and feel like a moron.

(Instead you have unlock the screen and hope you're still in the app for your media player.) Flip to your next picture with a flick. This was fixed with "Multi-Touch Gallery for Droid" A facebook app that lets you check Live Feed and your Inbox.

Motorola Droid :: Easier Way To Keep My SD Card Organized?

I'm still pretty new at this rooting stuff.I've been playing around with different roms and fun things like that.Lately I have been using the latest CM.I like it, its cool but seems a bit buggy to me. I've OC'ed to 1ghz, but it still runs rough and a little laggy in between screens.I moved to Android from the iPhone, and I know one thing that would happen with jailbreaking is if you get too many jailbreaks going it can cause bugs.I'm worried now that I've been playing around with lots of roms and making backups and stuff that I may just have too much going on. So I would like to start over.I dont have anything on my phone I'm too worried about.I have Titanium backup to back up apps and whatever else.It would be nice to backup my SMS and MMS, so I am using the trial version of MyBackup.Besides that I'm not too worried about losing anything.
So if I just want to start over with a clean rom install and lose the old rom backups, etc what would be my best bet?I think I'm going to flash BB with 1ghz kernel.Unless there are any other suggestions.Also, is there an easier way to keep my SD card organized? Just looking through it seems very messy.
Motorola Droid :: Any Easier Way To Unroot Other Than Using RSD Lite?
Aug 17, 2010I have used RSD Lite before to re-root my phone after applying 2.1 so I am comfortable using it again. I was just wondering if there is an easier way to unroot my phone. I know all of you are saying why unroot? Well I really don't utilize the root at all anymore. I originally did it to change the status bar to black (this is prolly the only thing that I will miss), to be able to downloas Led Hack (I recently uninstalled it and it appears that the leds turn off now in 2.2, I dunno if that was fixed in 2.1), and for wireless and wired tether (pdanet works without rooting and I have never once used the wireless tether other than to they and see if it works. It seems that I have had more problems with rooting then when my phone was unrooted.
Yea my phone is faster now bc of OC but unrooted it wasn't that slow anyway and I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but I get email notifications all the time even when I do not have a new email and it is really bothering me. So after that rant I was just wondering if there was an easier way to unroot. I tried downloading the rom from rom manager verizon 2.0.1 stock without root odexed and it gave me some error when installing. So if I have to use RSD Lite I will I was jsut wondering if there was an easier way. Also since I will not be rooted anymore is there any other program out there that saves data other than TiBu? I take it I will not be able to restore data with TiBu being unrooted. Don't know if this matters with RSD Lite but right now I am on BB 0.4 using chevy 1g kernal with the most updated baseband of .01P
Motorola Droid :: Easier Way To Switch Between Applications?
Nov 9, 2009I am trying to figure out how to switch between apps? The expanded manual says to hole the "home" button down from the Home screen. This works to an extent but does not show all apps I have running? For instance I emailed my selt the link to the extended manual from Motorola.

I click on that link and it downloads the pdf then opens QuickDocs to read it. But if I want to go back to the Home screen for something I can't get back to the Quick Docs app to continue reading from where I left off? I have to go thru the whole process over again and then it tries to download the manual again, so I cancel it and click on the previous one downloaded listed above the download. Then it opens QuickDocs again , but I then have to scroll thru all the pages I read to get to the page I left off at. What gives? It is time consuming and annoying!

Nov 9, 2009I accidentally deleted an email I wanted, but couldn't figure out how to "undelete" it. I can see if in the Trash folder, but don't see any menu options to move it back to the Inbox.
I was able to open the message and Forward it to myself, but that seemed overly difficult. Is there any easier way to undo the delete?

Jun 23, 2010Hey everybody, I've looked for an answer on here, but to no avail. I tried to root my replacement Eris with 1.5, and HBOOT 1.47. Everything was going well until it got to the point of making a recovery, which for some reason, my phone wouldn't let me do. Infuriated and frustrated, I followed the steps to go back to 1.5 to a tee. However, I miss Vlingo so much, and i went to install the OTA 2.1, and it aborted the installation. I now have HBOOT 1.49.2000, so does my phone basically think I have the 2.1v3 leak, or am I just flat-out screwed? Done multiple factory resets, etc. and they haven't helped either
