Motorola Droid :: Any Easier Way To Unroot Other Than Using RSD Lite?

Aug 17, 2010

I have used RSD Lite before to re-root my phone after applying 2.1 so I am comfortable using it again. I was just wondering if there is an easier way to unroot my phone. I know all of you are saying why unroot? Well I really don't utilize the root at all anymore. I originally did it to change the status bar to black (this is prolly the only thing that I will miss), to be able to downloas Led Hack (I recently uninstalled it and it appears that the leds turn off now in 2.2, I dunno if that was fixed in 2.1), and for wireless and wired tether (pdanet works without rooting and I have never once used the wireless tether other than to they and see if it works. It seems that I have had more problems with rooting then when my phone was unrooted.

Yea my phone is faster now bc of OC but unrooted it wasn't that slow anyway and I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but I get email notifications all the time even when I do not have a new email and it is really bothering me. So after that rant I was just wondering if there was an easier way to unroot. I tried downloading the rom from rom manager verizon 2.0.1 stock without root odexed and it gave me some error when installing. So if I have to use RSD Lite I will I was jsut wondering if there was an easier way. Also since I will not be rooted anymore is there any other program out there that saves data other than TiBu? I take it I will not be able to restore data with TiBu being unrooted. Don't know if this matters with RSD Lite but right now I am on BB 0.4 using chevy 1g kernal with the most updated baseband of .01P

Motorola Droid :: Easier Way To Keep My SD Card Organized?

Jun 1, 2010

hey guys. I'm still pretty new at this rooting stuff.I've been playing around with different roms and fun things like that.Lately I have been using the latest CM.I like it, its cool but seems a bit buggy to me. I've OC'ed to 1ghz, but it still runs rough and a little laggy in between screens.I moved to Android from the iPhone, and I know one thing that would happen with jailbreaking is if you get too many jailbreaks going it can cause bugs.I'm worried now that I've been playing around with lots of roms and making backups and stuff that I may just have too much going on. So I would like to start over.I dont have anything on my phone I'm too worried about.I have Titanium backup to back up apps and whatever else.It would be nice to backup my SMS and MMS, so I am using the trial version of MyBackup.Besides that I'm not too worried about losing anything.

So if I just want to start over with a clean rom install and lose the old rom backups, etc what would be my best bet?I think I'm going to flash BB with 1ghz kernel.Unless there are any other suggestions. Also, is there an easier way to keep my SD card organized? Just looking through it seems very messy.

Motorola Droid :: Easier Way To Switch Between Applications?

Nov 9, 2009

I am trying to figure out how to switch between apps? The expanded manual says to hole the "home" button down from the Home screen. This works to an extent but does not show all apps I have running? For instance I emailed my selt the link to the extended manual from Motorola.
http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Support/US-EN/Mobile%20Phones/DROID-by-Motorola/US-EN/Documents/Static-Files/DROID_UG_Verizon_68000202474a.pdf

I click on that link and it downloads the pdf then opens QuickDocs to read it. But if I want to go back to the Home screen for something I can't get back to the Quick Docs app to continue reading from where I left off? I have to go thru the whole process over again and then it tries to download the manual again, so I cancel it and click on the previous one downloaded listed above the download. Then it opens QuickDocs again , but I then have to scroll thru all the pages I read to get to the page I left off at. What gives? It is time consuming and annoying!

Motorola Droid :: Easier Way To Undo Delete Mail?

Nov 9, 2009

I accidentally deleted an email I wanted, but couldn't figure out how to "undelete" it. I can see if in the Trash folder, but don't see any menu options to move it back to the Inbox.

I was able to open the message and Forward it to myself, but that seemed overly difficult. Is there any easier way to undo the delete?

I have a bluetooth adapter attached to my car's iPod dock. It acts like a bluetooth headset so I can play music wirelessly from my Droid. My problem is that I have to go through a few menus to connect the paired devises every time I get in the car. Is there a way to have the Droid automatically connect to this device, or is there a widget that can help make this process easier?

Motorola Droid X :: RSD Lite To Flash SBF Keeps Failing

Aug 20, 2010

So I installed the update.zip without taking any steps to retain root, so of course now that 2.2 is installed I no longer have root. I did a cache wipe and data wipe, then setup RSD Lite to flash the 2.1 SBF onto my phone so I can follow the procedures to keep root while upgraded to 2.2.When I click start on RSD Lite, I am getting a failed flash process error.Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Also, the device properties are showing a lot of N/A in the place of version numbers, IMEI/ESN/MEID, etc.

Motorola Droid X :: XScope Browser Lite Version

Jul 27, 2010

After using every browser imaginable for the Droid X, I think I've finally settled on one that works the best. Stock, Dolphin HD, Opera and Skyfire all look a little sluggish compared xScope. Throughout most of the other threads suggesting apps and browsers I rarely saw this one get more than a cursory mention, so I thought it would be nice to point everyone towards another option. I'm currently using the lite version, but I'm more than likely going to pony up for the paid to help out the developer and unlock some features.

Motorola Droid :: Failed Flashing Process Error In RSD Lite.

Aug 9, 2010

I'm un-rooting my phone using OMJ's guide in the everything root related guide, and I'm getting a "Failed Flashing Process" error in RSD Lite.

I am running as admin, I have the correct drivers (I recently rooted...), I have the sbf in C: .... yet it fails.

The error says " Failed Flashing Process. Failed Flashing Process. Interface BP: Error flashing subscriber unit. Device API Error: 0xE0030009 Command: ADDR (0xE0231009); phone connected"

I am going to try flashing SPRecovery to see if I can at least get to a working point.

SPRecovery worked. It boots into 2.1 and has SPRecovery as the recovery. I still want to get it to stock, so I am going to try and download the stock sbf again (it doesn't have a checksum so I have no way of knowing if it is good or not...) .... here goes nothing!

Motorola Droid :: Failed Flashing Process - 0x7100 - In RSD Lite

May 6, 2010

I just had this problem and I've seen other people having the same issue. I found the solution, at least for me, so I thought I'd share it. I was trying to flash the SPrecovery spf file using RSD Lite, but it would fail immediately. I found someone else on another forum who discovered that the file had to be in the root of his C: drive for this to work. I gave it a shot and it worked with no problems. This seems really strange. I think he was running Vista. I'm running Vista 64-bit. I was already running RSD Lite as administrator, so that alone didn't help. Moving the file to the root of C:

Motorola Droid :: Phone Stuck On M Logo WHILE PLUGGED IN And On RSD Lite

Jul 14, 2010

I flashed my phone to 2.0.1 b/c I thought I had to do that. Turns out I didn't, but there is outdated and updated information out there and I was misled. Anyway, 2.0.1 installed fine and it booted up, though my phone wasn't activated. Anyway, then I realized I needed SPRecovery, so I installed the sbf for that using RSD Lite. It installed successfully as far as i can tell? But it did a reboot, and now it's just stuck on the white-background Moto logo while plugged into my USB. RSD Lite says "Please manually power up this phone."

Motorola Droid :: Using DMupdater To Unroot

I've used DMudpater before to unroot with no problems. I just did it a few minutes ago and I'm able to get past the M logo and the Eye. However, once the phone starts to load up, I get nothing but a rapid succession of FC's for every app on my phone. After the FCs, my screen is COMPLETELY BLACK except for the status bar, which shows a date of December 31, 1969 and shows a time of 7:05PM (it's actually 4:15PM where I'm at). There's no service in the status bar.

Motorola Droid X : How Do I Unroot Phone?

Aug 4, 2010

No immediate plans to but does anyone know how to? I assume delete superuser.apk su and busybox. Was there an original version of su that got overwritten? The only other dx we have that isn't rooted is a hundred miles away but i could try to fish su out of it and check the attributes on it. Anyone ponder this yet? May not be necessaryto do as froyo may wipe anyway. Then again birdman says 2.2 is patched and our 2.1 exploit doesn't work. Meaning an ota from vzw will lock us out.

Motorola Droid : Unable To Unroot?

Mar 30, 2010

I'm pretty new when it comes to rooting and whatnot, but I gave it a shot. It worked well. I currently have Cyanogen 5.0.5 on my phone and I love it! I heard that the OTA 2.1 is finally out, and I wanted to unroot and try it to compare against my ROM. I have read of ways to do this, but I think my situation is a little more unique. I attempted to revert back to stock via ROM Manager. I must have done the wrong thing, so I ended up just reinstalling the update.zip file from my SD Card. I resigned into Google and it was just like the first time I rooted. I re-downloaded ROM Manager and when I try to "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery", I get the error message: "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands." The "reboot into recovery" also does not work. I can still hold "X" and power on, but I just get the clockwork recovery menu, and end up nowhere but back to Cyanogen. I love Cyan and will probably stick with it, but nothing as far as root apps work anymore. DM also doesn't work for me anymore. When I enter recovery mode, it gives me the option to boot from update.zip, or factory reset. Would factory reset mess everything up? Any help/ideas?
