My Eris has been acting up the past few days. It has been changing screens automaticly when I pick it up. Also when I go to type something it will move my placing backwards so I'm typing in between words that I've already started typing. I've tried rebooting several times. I'm not sure what to do with it other than take it out back and shoot it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI apparently deleted all of the screens somehow and what I'm currently using is a $2.99 application I believe called DXHome or something to that effect. It's not too bad is a diamond shaped key @ the bottom and basically only has 4 screens instead of 7.

I saw the different "scenes" that are pre-loaded but I was interested in how others have theirs set up. Right now mine are all sort of random as I haven't yet figured out a good system for me.
On stock Eris ( well, 1.5, 2.1v1,2,3 ), non-root, is there an app or setting somewhere to have the icons on the home screens without their title?

I came from the blackberry world where any major os upgrade meant you needed to back up your phone first before doing the update otherwise all of you stuff was gone when you were done.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo oddly enough my wife's Eris does not let her long press ANY of the bottom two rows of app icons/widgets. I can long press any of the top two rows apps/widgets fine to remove or add in an empty space. but the bottom two rows I can't remove or add with a long press.anyone else have this issue? I'm trying to figure out whats new but she isn't that into her phone so she never installs stuff on it, im the one tweaking and playing with her phone and I haven't touched it in a week this started happening randomly 2 days ago.
View 10 Replies View RelatedO.K. I've seen in different themes or roms that the backgrounds are different than stock. Evil eris the robot on the dialer screen was blue. I've seen em pink. Seen em with checkerboard pattern across his midsection. Never seen a completely custom without the robot tho. My question is how do you change that screen and is the robot not removable? Can I just put some random picture that I think is cool at the time? Oh and how do I change the color of the call button and battery icon, if theres a way without installing other apps to do it?

1 - Last night, I put a background app on my Eris and downloaded a couple. Got the message just fine that they were saved to my SD card.
2 - This question in two parts.
A - Where the heck are they? I went to look for them in the settings area, and I can't find them in any "gallery." What am I doing wrong?
B - Once "found," how do I save them to a gallery that I can use to change the lockscreen background?
Again, I can't do this on a PC and rooting is not an option for me (one, I really don't know much about it, and two, I think you lose Sense UI which I like and don't want to get rid of).locate any files on my SD card. As a matter of fact, the only option shown in my settings for the SD card is "Unmount SD card." The Format SD Card is greyed, so it's not letting me choose it even if I wanted to. Is this a setting somewhere else?

I know not everyone here is a member at xda, so I figured that at least a few people on here have eris's that they are willing to void their warrenty on (even more than they alread have with leaks and rooting )This isn't with an LED, it is the actual trackball. Seems pretty easy, anyway, thought I'd share.
I created a folder on one of the screens, but the default name for it is Folders. How can I change that?

I also noticed that other people had unusual names showing up that were obviously not first names. I'm wondering how I would go about changing my display name in the marketplace. I'd prefer to have something like my forum handle show up for my reviews and such.
View 6 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has the HTC Incredible and asked me, since I have the Eris and they are pretty similar, how to change the default action in Favorite people. When he set up his wife as a favorite, he accidentally chose to "send text" as the default action. He wants to change it to dial her cell number. I read the instructions for my Eris on how to do this.It tells me "To change the default communication method for a favorite contact, press and hold the contact, and then tap Change default action."When I do this, I do not get an option to change default action. Same for him.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBefore the OTA I was able to select which apllication was used when the large "phone" button was pushed on the homepage. I think what used to happen was that when you downloaded a new phone dialer and then pressed the phone button the first time you were given an option as to what app you want to use for this action. Once you chose an app it was always activated when you pressed the phone button. I don't see this happening anymore.

Is there any way to either do something to the bluetooth or change the eris's sense ui so that it can pair with a wiimote, or are there any other bluetooth or USB keyboards or game controller that can for sure work with the eris?
Also, what is the best music player app? All I want is one that has an equalizer that works. Every time I hit the eq button on mixing it say that "the eq doesnt support this file type" and all my music is MP3 wtf. I have the same issue except that my contact card has automatically synced to my facebook and I would prefer to change to a different picture that is not my facebook profile picture. There's no option to do so under people->my contact card and if I go to a picture in my albums it only lets me set the photo for a contact that is not me.

I really like my Droid Incredible (Dinc), but I just noticed a minor glitch on it. When I was on the main home screen, the phone switched over to all three of the left home screens on its own (it switched to these home screens one after another). Do you know if there will be a software update that will fix this problem?

I want to change my phone basically, and try out a few ROMs. I just need to know how computer savvy I have to be to install ROMs, how long it takes roughly, and how difficult changing roms or unrooting if I want to is. Also, I want to try a Froyo rom. Whats the best one out there? I tried looking through the roms threads and can only find screenshots on a couple, so if you guys could post a link to a site with them or post yours that would be cool. I would like something that has the Sense widgets, mainly the calendar, music, and clock/weather widgets with the animations.
I know there are widget apps out there but I don't feel like paying just yet when I'm not sure if I want to stay rooted or not. For the rom suggestions I basically want what the battery life is, speed, and the amount of bugs or problems you guys have had. I know I can search the threads to find the other questions I have, and with your suggestions I will, but I'll be basing those searches off your suggestions. Say I root but I don't like any of the roms out there, I don't have to install a rom to stay rooted, right? I would basically wanna just overclock it and remove a couple apps to possibly speed up my phone. I try not to sound like that, but with rooting I really just don't wanna screw up my phone.
