Android : Input Type For Edit Text Not Changing
Nov 23, 2010I want to show edittext which will default show faint color text written as "Password". As soon as user focus on it then I want to convert it from text to password type. I did that but its not working.

Here it changes from Grey color to black. All text is also cleared. But it doesn't change to password type. Is this allowed to change dynamically input type?

HTC Droid Eris :: Sometimes No Text Input When Typing?
Dec 2, 2009Sometimes when I type it wont fill in whatever field that I am typing in whether its a text message, search, or web page. The dictionary will come up as if I am typing the word but no actual letters will have been typed. I've tried with both the stock keyboard and better keyboard but it wont work until I restart the phone.

Dec 18, 2009Regarding the lack of Predictive Text or XT9 on certain applications: I contacted google with the following bug report:- Steps to reproduce the problem. Verizon Droid Eris (stock, 1.5 i think): tap the magnifying glass to search the web. use the 9-key phone pad method of text input.
What happened."XT9" text input is locked. only "ABC" or "abc" available. What you think the correct behavior should be. All android applications and functions that accept text input should support XT9 predictive texting for the 9-key phonepad and compact-qwerty. The google folks said the following: "Android does not contain a T-9 input method by default. Please report this bug to HTC, owners of that particular piece of software."And then HTC said the following: Hello Ben Thank you for contacting HTC technical support about the abc/xt9 being greyed out. I have checked on this for you and found that is how the device is set up when using these areas on the apps. There is no way of changing this and I do apologize for that. When entering google searches and also browser addresses predictive text is not available for input. If you have any other questions feel free to reply. HTC Droid Eris :: Text Input Sticks To T9 Method After 2.1
Mar 17, 2010I use the phone pad style to text. ABC. Since I installed 2.1 it automatically sticks the phone on xt9. I have to toggle it to ABC before every text. Ive tried like 3 different text apps. They all do the same thing.

Dec 26, 2009This is my first post. I've had a Moto Droid since day one, and I just love it. It is without a doubt better than any phone that I've had over the years, and that includes the iPhone, BB, etc.
However, there are 2 things that I don't understand - Font size and a spell checker. It is imposiible to read the small font size in emails or text messages.
1. Why has there not been an app to either change the font size or be able to zoom in? Picasy has incorporated multi-touch for zooming, so I've to assume that its doable! Why not have the same in an email client.
2. Why is there not an email client out there that allows for spell checking? There are many such apps for the BB! I am a terrible speller.
I am not complaining, I just want to understand the limitations from a developers prospective, as I am sure these isuues will eventually be addressed.

Aug 30, 2010I was using xtrSense briefly right before I switched to KaosFroyo v31 and I must say I was very impressed with the responsiveness of xtrSense.That would be my first choice ROM for anyone wanting an Android 2.1 ROM with Sense.Since I switched to KaosFroyo I'm loving Android 2.2 (and missing my HTC sense weather widget,) however it's a good deal less responsive than xtrSense. I turned off JIT because I wanted to go the most stable route, and switched back to LauncherPro.Mostly I notice the reduced responsiveness when typing on the soft keyboard and when switching from portrait to landscape.What's the best way to improve responsiveness in KaosFroyo without overclocking more than "stock?"

Feb 16, 2012I downloaded a theme (suave redone light) and applied it, and as its supposed to, the font changed. But now, whenever I apply a new theme or a font from a certain theme, there's always a few programs that keep the suave font, and after I mess around with the phone for a while, things like the settings, notes, the bible app, change back to the suave font.
It's not like it's a really big deal, but I don't like having some apps with a different font, specially when it's two completely different fonts.
LG Ally :: Changing Lock Screen Clock Font
Nov 7, 2010Thought some others might be interested in doing this if they haven't already. First off, you need root access to do this, and I am not responsible for any damage you may do to your device.
1. Download any font to your SD card. Make sure it is a TrueType font (most are) but double check anyway. Check out dafont.com for a huge selection of fonts.
2. Rename this font to Clockopia. Make sure the "C" is capitalized.
3. Now, open up Root Explorer (or any other file manager with root access) and navigate to system/fonts/.
4. Long click on Clockopia.ttf and copy it.
5. Paste it on your SD Card somewhere and rename it to something like Clockopia-Original. This way you always have a backup.
6. Now, long-click and copy your new downloaded Clockopia. Don't paste it anywhere yet.
7. Navigate back to system/fonts/ and press the "Mount R/W" button.
8. Long click on Clockopia.ttf and press "Delete"
9. Paste the new Clockopia in its place.
10. On the new Clockopia.ttf, long click and press "permissions". Check all the boxes under "Read" and the user box under "Write".

I'm not sure if this is the Samsung keyboard or if it's just a steam app thing, because the little button down below only shows up in steam, but when I press and hold it it sends them as actual text, like : -) instead of .
Now, I like that it's text, I just don't like that they have dashes for noses, how or even if it can be changed.

Oct 8, 2010i have a problem changing different input language. If i change from default English to Lithuanian, no Lithuanian symbols appear, everything stays as it was still in English. I tried changing to Russian, to see if it is just a bug with Lithuanian input, - Russian works fine. Perhaps there are some shortcuts for typing Lihuanian symbols that i don't know?

HTC Droid Eris :: Want To Fix Font Size For Gmail
Nov 8, 2009As much as I wanted to use the native Gmail app, the font size was just too small (seems like a common Android problem except in the browser). To remedy this I simply configured my Gmail (actually Google Apps) account as an IMAP account with the regular Android Mail. Here, font size is fully scalable (about six selections) and they apply to both reading email to typing new email. This will have to do until someone fixes the dedicated Gmail app font size. On the positive side, this actually works better in receiving email sent to the phone as it was definitely NOT full push with the Gmail app as it's supposed to be. Having them both setup it's easy to see that mail arrives much faster with the regular IMAP mail app than with the Gmail, which is really odd.

I realize I can add apps like Handcent that will allow me to do it for things like SMS/MMS. But I also would like to have a way to just increase the font for everything else. After coming over to the Eris from several other smartphones where the font could be adjusted, I'm concerned that I havent found a way on the Eris.
And no, I am not looking for answers such as, "Put on your reading glasses". LOL. I'm hoping I'm just overlooking a simple setting, and maybe an easy app that I can get thru The Market ?

Also when I go to type something it will move my placing backwards so I'm typing in between words that I've already started typing. I've tried rebooting several times. I'm not sure what to do with it other than take it out back and shoot it.
