HTC Droid Eris :: Does Anyone Make Case That Has Stand Up Leg Like EVO Has?

View 11 RepliesMy Droid was in its leather carrying case in my backpack for about an hour while I was at the gym. When I pulled it out it was hot. Not warm, but hot. I couldn't stand to hold it against my ear to make a call.
When I pulled up the battery usage it did not appear to be anything out of the ordinary. The keyboard was locked when I pulled it out of the case so that eliminates errant keypresses opening up a bunch of apps and making calls while it was in there.
I know I've asked a lot of questions about getting the stock Android apps and keyboards, etc. But I am very concerned as it may mean taking back my Eris.
For some reason, I just cannot stand the HTC apps. For example, the Messaging app, the black notification bar and different battery icon, the Mail app, etc. They just look cheap or something. I don't use Sense UI, I have it set to Default Home. I don't really like HTC's keyboard as much as the stock Android one either. I bought the Eris because of the price, and how much lighter and thinner it is and how much better it looks than the Motorola Droid. However, I would really love to know if we can get the stock Android look and feel, for example the stock Android keyboard, stock notification bar color, stock messaging app, after the 2.0/2.1 update or after it is rooted. It just looks so much more dark and rich. I don't like white color schemes like in the HTC messaging app. (And don't say use Handcent because I don't like it either and I don't want to replace any apps.) Is it possible to just install the stock Android OS after it is rooted?
i have looked everywhere, but i cannot find one that does. i can't stand the added bulk that the 2 piece snap on cases add, and i never use the keyboard any way, so a nice 1 piece silicone or resin cover would be excellent. it would also cut down on the number of times that the keyboard slides open while in my pocket, which happens fairly often. i know i can't be the first one to think of this!

View 11 Replies View RelatedSaw this in the store today and thought about getting it. It looks like it's made of something like aluminum or a cheap version of it. Fairly inexpensive, too. Just wondering if anyone has used this case. I like my Seidio Innocase just fine but looking for a change. My concern is how it snaps on and whether or not it would damage the case in the spots where it holds onto the phone. I am also wondering how the paint job holds up. Just curious. I'd post a pic but it's not on the verizon website and I can't find anything similar on ebay. This one doesn't have a bezel that goes all the way around the front of the phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have seen many posts on the new Otterbox case, but I don't have any knowledge of them or the company. What makes them different/better than the hard case I got off of eBay. Serious question. I have used the cheap screen protectors off of eBay and I don't like them as well. Might as well go ahead and spend the dollars each for OEM ones lol.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI got an Otterbox (IMPACT) case for my wife's Droid Eris. I have verified that when the case is on, the proximity sensor does not operate at all. Take case off, works fine. Case is on correctly (there's not a whole lot of ways to have it on wrong). Pressing it harder onto my head (which one shouldn't have to do) or holding it farther away don't help, either. Does the other Otterbox case do this?

I have tried to do this with WiFi connect also to see if it needed something data wise to get started but same results.Any ideas or other apps that track your runs that can use GPS only?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm still a noob droid owner so maybe I just don't get it but here are some things that drive me nuts with the contacts interface.please note* I have (2) gmail email accounts, and a facebook account.
1. some of my contacts say they have "profiles" linked. so I tap the profiles and it will say for example "google: bob, google: bob, phone contacts: bob" why? I don't want anything linked. I feel like I don't have any control over my contacts.
2. I noticed that my fiance is a contact "julia" and then today I noticed another contact with her full name and a picture. so I ctapped that to investigate and it was her facebook info and email. where the heck did that come from? why on earth would I want more than one option for her as a contact?I am really lost. I mean REALLY lost. it took me a while to figure out how to make contact groups, so that I can organize some of my professional contacts but the rest of this is killing me. I created a new professional contact which happens to be a pest control guy. I chose to create a new contact. I entered his name and phone number, also email address. then I saved it. then when I looked at it somehow it had 3 linked profiles like what I was saying in point #1 above. what the heck? Why can't I just have a contact list period. and the only thing in this contact list are contacts which were entered into the phone by me. for each contact, I have the option to store their many numbers, email, etc. so when I tap on contacts, I get a contacts list and not a thousand people some of which are duplicates, some of which are emails I've responded to in gmail who I never talk to like customerservice@whateverbusiness.com.I'm mystified. can someone explain to me that either I am confused or this system is over complicated?
I bought a bionic and I want to give my og Droid to the kids and let them use it wifi only kinda like an iPod touch. Problem is is that when. I factory reset it (leaving it rooted) there is not a market and I cant get any apps so it makes it useless.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday I flashed XTRSense4.0.6.1 to both mine and my wife's Eris. My phone has been running great with no problems whatsoever. This afternoon my wife calls me freaking out because her contacts have disappeared... all of them. She said they were all there this morning and all of a sudden they're just gone. I told her to go to Settings, Accounts/Sync, and to Sync Google but that didn't help. She rebooted her phone, synced again and still nothing. Finally I walked her through the process of rebooting into recovery mode, wiping cache, doing a factory reset, and finally a NAND restore which got her back to pre-XTRSense and all her contacts came back without issue. What could have caused this issue and what can I do to prevent future occurrences? I'd really like to flash XTRSense back to her phone because it seemed to fix her other issues but not if its going to cause more problems than it fixes.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI know about camel case rules, but I'm confused with this m rule. What does it stand for? I'm a php developer, "we" use first letters of variables as indication of type, like 'b' for boolean, 'i' for integer and so on.
Is 'm' a java thing? Does it stand for mobile? mixed?
I looked around and really cont find an answer to this... I love 2.1 but now my phone barely works to make calls. I can make a call, but then if I try to make another, the phone will just go black. The other person says they can hear me, but I hear nothing. Is there a fix other than shutting off the phone after every call?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI Got Open Home, and GDE. Used those for a while. and I like those. Sense is meh... But lately i've been noticing a lot of lag as well. I can barely finish a text without my phone lagging... >.< I would like to speed it up.... But I would also like to keep my warranty intact, I've seen some options. Updating to the Leak 2.1 v3 or Rooting. of these two I would prefer rooting... I like options lol like i said. and 2.1 v3 traps you on 2.1 v3 forever (as of now >.< )
Both of which seem to void warranty...... So my question Is... What should i do with my phone?? Is it worth it to say F*ck the warranty and root? is there something (BESIDES TASK KILLER!!!) that i can install to make the ENTIRE phone run faster? EDIT: OH!!! and i forgot. One of my big fears in rooting is the set up process after the root. Like will I have to call some Verizon number and re activate my phone like they did when i first got it??
How do i make my own Icons using Better cut. I just bought it..

View 8 Replies View RelatedOn one of the home screens or scenes, whatever, i had put the 30 day month view HTC calendar widget. it synced with the Google calendar just fine and there was a little triangle in the upper left corner of the box for the days that had an event. however, they only stay once i reload the widget. and after a little while they go away, but if i pick a day, my events are still there. i really like that the little triangle. how do i make it stay? is there another app or widget that will allow a full month view with the little triangle or similar mark for days with events?
View 9 Replies View RelatedGoogle Voice runs flawlessly on my Droid. I recently purchased a Droid Eris for my wife, and while Google Voice SMS and inbound calling works fine, outbound calling does not. I notice that Google's "bridging number" used to connect me with the recipient on the Eris is different than the one used by my Droid. When dialing on my Droid, the call is routed through (518) 314-9466, while the problematic Eris is using (609) 987-0466. My wife's GV number is a (908) number which is probably why she is being routed through a (609) bridging number, both being South Jersey Area codes.
Does anyone think this is the problem? If so, is there a way to adjust which bridging number through which outbound calls are connnected. Has anyone else suffered this issue? We are really concerned as Google Voice integration was the primary reason for purchasing this phone. I thought to add that (i) I am using version 0.2.8 in all instances, (ii) the Eris has been updated with the recent OTA update from Verizon (though I didn't have a chance to use Google Voice beforehand to to determine if this is a post-update issue or not) and (iii) I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app from the market multiple times in hopes of rectifying this issue.
I used *228 and pressed 1 and did it again and pressed 2 neither worked and still cant make calls.
