i have looked everywhere, but i cannot find one that does. i can't stand the added bulk that the 2 piece snap on cases add, and i never use the keyboard any way, so a nice 1 piece silicone or resin cover would be excellent. it would also cut down on the number of times that the keyboard slides open while in my pocket, which happens fairly often. i know i can't be the first one to think of this!

I just got my droid and I noticed that the gap between the keyboard the screen when the phone is closed is slightly more on the bottom left corner than on the other corners. When pushed down I can make the gap go away.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with my application in that the soft-keyboard is not being closed unless the user pushes the "back" button.I use several layouts which I load using the setContentView method of the application. Some layouts contain multiple EditText fields. The soft-keyboard pops up correctly when the entry boxes are being clicked, but never gets dismissed, even after I switch to a new layout using setContentView (instigated by on-screen push buttons).I found a way of apparently removing the keyboard using the "InputManager" class but how exactly does that work if I don't know which entry field opened/currently owns the keyboard?Is there a way of possibly invalidating a whole layout which would perhaps cause all resources (and hopefully the keyboard) to be cleared? As said before, I currently just use setContentView to load the next screen.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm currently having trouble with a SlidingDrawer. I want it to be closed when the application starts so it doesn't get in the way. However, it is determined that it will be open, despite putting slide.close() in the onCreate() of my activity. It seems to be closed if i use slide.animateClose() instead, but this slows my application down loads.
How do I make it closed by default? code...

Verbage:
Keyboard Manager allows you to customize what keyboard (input method) appear on input based on your phone orientation.
It displays the keyboards you have enabled on your android device, and let you select one per orientation (landscape/portrait).
As your phone switch orientation, the app automatically switch the keyboard.
Requirements:
- Rooted android device (app was tested on Samsung captivate 2.1)
- Root Explorer app, or similar app that allows you to edit the permissions of a file.
To install:
1- Download the app (KeyboardManager.apk) on your device sdcard.
2- Using Root Explorer, move the apk file to /system/app
3- Using Root Explorer, edit the file permissions like below:
-- User: 'Read/Write' checked
--Group: 'Read' checked
--Others: 'Read' checked
4- Exit Root Explorer
The app should be visible in your launcher as 'Keyboard Manager'

Bugs:
-On certain applications (i.e: Messaging on Samsung Captivate), the input window occasionally freeze on orientation switch. Exiting the app, and resuming should fix it.
The app is still in development.
My droid haas a slight gap one left side when closed. when I tap on the screen the gap closes a little then opens, giving an annoying "springyness" to my tapping. It's very annoying.
After owning a first gen iphone and a pre, the droid is my favorite. But if this problem only occurs on a fraction of droids i'd like to consider an exchange.
I closed my Facebook account. Is there a way I can get rid of it on my Droid. Every morning I get a message that the Facebook validation failed.
View 15 Replies View RelatedWhen I exit out of an app the screen is blank for 30 seconds or so before my widgets and icons reappear. I had it back in November 2009 and I still have it after 2.0.1 and 2.1 and 2.2 and the other 2.2. I see a million threads here and on other forums asking about it. Just checking in to see if there was ever a solution discovered. Like all of you, I can always bring them back with a hard or soft reset.
I'm just wondering if anyone has found a way to prevent it from happening in the first place. I assume that it's related to available memory or processor or something, so every once in a while I think "I'm going to streamline this thing and give it all kinds of available memory" and it doesn't work. I kill all widgets and go to vanilla wallpaper and it still happens. Anyone figure this thing out?
So, not much of a Google Talk user, but now and then. And, I mostly use it via my desktop gMail app.. not on my phone.
Anyway, I close out the Talk app, but no matter what, even if it is closed, killed, off, it activates itself when someone sends me a chat.. even if I am logged on via my gMail account.
How the heck can you shut it off? What is it that makes it start up because someone wants to chat. I see no way to stop it and I am not always in the mood or able to chat and do not want to be disturbed but this Google Talk seems to start up and alert you anyway.
Ok one of the weirdest things happened just now. I switched back to UD 8 last night just cause. I had on BB 0.5 b4 if that matters. I didn't wipe data or cache either (Don't know if that matters or not). So for some reason both launcher pro and android system force closed. So I went to UD settings and put fix permissions. I then switched to ADW Launcher to see if that helped.
That helped for a little while but while i was in a call a few minutes later I press the home button and it doesn't even work!!! I pressed back until I hopefully went back to the homescreen. It first of all never went back to the homescreen and second of all just stayed in the browser and another note is that while I tried to go home it didn't work but when I held the home button it showed my recent apps.
So I did a battery pull and all it did was stay in the boot animation for almost ten minutes. Now I just have the battery out to let the droid cool down. The CPU was getting pretty hot. Was this just an overheat or did my droid just flip out on me. Would like to know if something similar to this has happened to anyone else for future reference. I know I'm definitely not bricked but what would be the right steps to get back to my normal droid.
edit: all of this happened after I put the sense theme, keyboard, and revolution theme onto my sdcard. While the files were on my laptop they gave my laptop the blue screen of death. I found these files in another thread on this site. Could they be killer files set out to kill any device that they are on. Perhaps. But idk what to do still.
I'm pretty sure my home screen would do landscape with keyboard closed the first couple of days I had the phone and now it wont do it unless the keyboard is out. Anyone else have the same issue?

I got a Droid 2 car dock based on the recent video and it does not work with the protective case. I have the protective case that Verizon sells with the criss-cross pattern on it. I don't see any other markings to identify it more clearly.
I need a solution where I can dock the Droid in the car (with power to the Droid) while still in the case. Does anyone know of a combination that works? I searched the forums but could not find an answer to this specific request.
