I was reading over at xda that "any mini usb car charger" will work for the eris.
is this true?
so i don't have to buy a new one? i can use my bb curves car charger?

Will virtually any mini-USB based cable, car charger, and wall charger work with my HTC Droid Eris? Mini-USB cables are generally universal, but I want to ensure that I use a compatible car charger and wall charger that won't damage my phone. The official Verizon accessories of course seem overpriced, if any generic solution would work equally well.

Overall, this mini-USB cable / car charger / wall charger combo gets positive reviews, but I've heard of random glitches for some cheap chargers.
I am thinking of purchasing this TP2 battery charger on ebay cuz i heard you can use the tp2 batteries in the eris.. has anyone used this before?

left my phone on my car charger after I got home for about an hour, when I took it off it was burning hot.. looked in system app (thank you OTD) and it said my temperature was 110 degrees farenheit. I'm not familiar with the normal operation temperature so I don't know if this is off the charts or just above normal.

I had this happen with an LG Chocolate before and had to get it replaced.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy phone was dying so i charged it. Plug it in, 30 mins past so i went to check on it.
So i looked at it and battery is still red. And i am wonder what the heck. Everything is plug in where it should be.
Low and behold the chord connecting at the mini usb well let's just say the casing is ripping apart and the wire is exposed. I've had this phone for 3 weeks and this happens.
Verizon better give me a new charger. Also i've notice i always get Sense UI force closed and other apps force closed but if i close and start again it works.
So before my eris i had a BB curve 8330 (its old, i know) the plugs are compatible from BB to eris, so i still use my car charger, but the wall charger output matches voltage, but the one that came with the eris says 1A, the one from the BB says 750mA.Am i about to fry something? i can read an electrical diagram and solder something, but i dont understand electrical stuff.

We thought maybe because it was so warm from messing with it. Well, today it's turned off twice for no reason at all. Anyone else have this problem or have a recommendation? Everything seems ok on hers when we compare our two. Mine has yet to do this once?

Does anyone know why my Droid says the battery is fully charged, 100% (with cord attached), then if I put it in the charger the red light stays on and it charges for another 30 minutes? The app battery status pro (new) also shows a higher voltage when said battery is re-inserted into the phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using the OEM charger on my Dinc and nothing else. I randomly get a message something like, "The charger you are using is not compatible with your device. Remove the charger now to avoid damage to your phone". I have not used anything other than the OEM charger ever. It isn't loose or frayed or bent strangely. It also seems to charge even though the message pops up. For now, I'm using my computer's USB port to charge it but man, that's SLOOOOOOOOW. It has done it since I first got the phone and before I had even installed my first app. It also does it after a factory reset and reprogram. Customer service is sending an aftermarket wall charger free of charge until I can get an OEM unit as they are obviously out of stock.
