View 4 RepliesI'm bought my Eris a week ago and am not familiar with all of its functions. I'm trying to place my music files on the SD card. Whenever I plug it into my computer and mount it shows a USB drive under "Computer", but whenever I click it I get a popup saying that the drive can't be found. I've downloaded HTC Sync and that let me create a music file, but then I couldn't do anything with it.

I know this may sound simple but am under the impression that when you make a backup of your ROM and other files on your device, it has to stay on the device.
When making a NANDROID backup, is it safer and more useful if one can store those backups on one's computer ?
Am sure there's a way to do this but am not sure if there's already an app for it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI always used to backup my Nokias to their PC suite on my home computer. That backuped everything on the phone if I wanted and also was excellent when I changed phones, as, as long as they were Nokia I could just restore everything to my new phone.
Is there any similar system for my HTC Desire? I need the assurance that if my phone gets stolen or needs to be replaced, as I'll backup often, I'll be able to restore everything to my new phone directly from the computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I brought my work computer home to transfer some pictures I took on my phone to my external hard drive, but when I plug my phone into the PC all I get is "USB device not recognized." I don't even get the HTC Sync notification in the status bar of my Eris. I used to be able to do it on my old computer before it died on me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug my phone into my computer via USB, nothing happens. I don't get a notification although the phone charges which means it is plugged in. But as I said no notification so I can transfer things between my computer and my phone. Any ideas anyone? I'm running 2.1 V2 and this just happened as of today. It was working fine yesterday.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSaw some discussion on this on the Hero forum here, and one mention on the HTC forum, but no conclusive answers. I cannot get HTC Sync to work on my computer. I am running XP SP3. I have downloaded the latest version of HTC Sync. I disable my anti-virus and firewall and install, and it reports it installs correctly, but that it will not run and it will not recognize the phone.
I read that it's a "known issue" with McAfee, but don't see a workaround or any detailed threads.Anyone running McAfee and get it to work?
Is there a way to read .bk files right on my computer in a text editor or something? Or maybe a virtual phone setup on my computer... Just shooting in the dark here, I have gotten rid of my S3 and switched to BB but backed everything up the day before incase I need something off there and I need some of the text messages that I had backed up that I didn't think I needed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI sync my Eris with Outlook on my computer but have not done so since March 2010. When I now plug my Eris into a USB port, it does not recognize it as another drive or hardware like it used to. The computer does recognize other peripherals when plugged into the USB port.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy first computer was a hand-me-down from my father. It had a Pentium II, 200ish mhz. I think it had 64 MB ram and a 2 gig hard drive. I'm pretty sure that my Eris is faster and better than this computer in every respect except for screen size, but I wonder, how does the Eris's processor compare to other x86 processors out there? Has anybody benchmarked arm based CPUs against old pentium CPUs? Does anybody know how our phone processors stack up against computer processors?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to use my computer to make calls through my Eris? I want to dial from my computer, speak through my computer's microphone and hear the other person through my computer's speakers. I don't want to use VOIP though, I just want a program that will sync those functions with my phone. I ultimately would like to be able to dock my phone and not have to touch it until I want to unplug it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make sure I'm not crazy. I have been sitting here at work trying to find an alternative to the photo software that comes on the Eris. I have never been happy with the stock camera app and the pictures it takes. I downloaded an app called Camera 360 from the market. I've been taking several pictures and comparing them side by side. To me, Camera 360 looks like it takes much better pictures. I have emailed myself 3 or 4 pictures so I can compare them on the PC. The stock camera seems to be very blurry when blown up onto a computer monitor. The Camera 360 pictures seem to be clearer and sharper. Granted I'm sitting here at my desk taking pictures of the wall and my feet, so it's possible the Camera 360 software will stink outside.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI know that this is sort of stupid thing not to know, but how do you actually set up the link between the Eris and the desktop when using Wireless Tether? I went through the Wireless network Setup and I even went through Network Setup Wizard and Network Connections and still haven't been able to figure out how to actually initiate wireless tetherthing through wi-fi. I'm sure that it's something bonehead that I haven't considered. The only time I've set up networks is with the help of ISP tech support or the ISP setup CD.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used the video camera on my Eris to record a video, but I can't seem to find the folder that the video is stored in when I connect it to my computer, so I cannot copy it to my computer. I used Astro to try to find it on the phone, but I can't seem to find it that way either.
The file is too large to send via email, and I cannot use bluetooth transfer. I would like to get the video off of my phone, and onto my computer. Any suggestions?
