Is there a way to use my computer to make calls through my Eris? I want to dial from my computer, speak through my computer's microphone and hear the other person through my computer's speakers. I don't want to use VOIP though, I just want a program that will sync those functions with my phone. I ultimately would like to be able to dock my phone and not have to touch it until I want to unplug it.

I am a happy Verizon customer that doesn't ante-up the extra $ to make calls on the few trips that send me to Canada. I heard that there might be an app or website that lets u make free calls through ur WiFi connection (at my hotel, for example) when I'm up there on business... Anyone know anything about this? Is there a way to run the WiFi only and not ANY other phone functions>>> (mobile network AND receiving calls or texts)..... so that I wouldn't get charged for incoming calls and messages?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI returned the Moto Droid on day 29 because it was bulky, I worried about the slider mechanism (and barely ever used the physical keyboard), and because I was very envious of the Sense UI on the Eris. The biggest thing was that when I had to turn the phone off or the couple of times I had to do a battery pull, it took 5-10 minutes before the phone would let me make a call. I have been pretty happy with the Eris as I love the physical buttons and the trackball and Sense UI and the form factor. But looking over the Droid threads on various forums, I do miss the beautiful screen and the quickness of the browser and changing between screens. I was a bit pissed that the software updates were after the exchange period for people who bought the phones when they came out. It really doesnt matter I suppose as I am not able to exchange this phone out for anything else. I understand why Verizon doesnt let you exchange repeatedly but its so hard to know how well a phone will do for you until you use it for a while. Full price is always an option if a higher-end HTC comes out but my husband wouldnt be too thrilled with that I think.

The Eris on the other hand, I have none, it flips from no bars to X all day long. I can not receive calls nor can I make a call. Has anyone had problems with theirs? Or what might I be able to do ?

And I did search the forums, but the questions having to do with making calls were all way more complicated than this one!

View 4 Replies View RelatedI sync my Eris with Outlook on my computer but have not done so since March 2010. When I now plug my Eris into a USB port, it does not recognize it as another drive or hardware like it used to. The computer does recognize other peripherals when plugged into the USB port.

I'm pretty sure that my Eris is faster and better than this computer in every respect except for screen size, but I wonder, how does the Eris's processor compare to other x86 processors out there? I just bought and IGO micro juice 2.1 amp. when connected make the phone think that is connected to a computer.I notice when that happen the phone charge super slow even with this charger rated at 2.1. if I run to apps at the same time its start discharging. MY 3 year old Igo charge alot faster even running a few apps at the same time.Is there any way that change that I feel that i waste my money with this charger if i canot make it charge like is a 2.1 amp.

Or how about when you hit phone and you dial a number and hit call and it lags big time, or when go to your past history calls and touch it, it takes like 5-10 sec to make the call?
My end call button is getting worn out. Anyone know of an app, or any way to either use the start call, or trackball button turn on the phone?

(no land line, so i have to use my eris on call) -- I push the trackball to light up the screen and nothing happens. Then a few seconds later the bootup screen starts (where it says 'HTC - quietly brilliant). The phone was fully charged...anybody ever have this happen to them? I rely on this phone to reach patients and other doctors...am not happy about this.

I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
I am going crazy here... I've had this thing since it launched and everything is great except I keep hitting buttons with my face during calls! I mute, sometimes end calls, start 3 way calls etc and I have no idea how to prevent it. Is there any way I can make the screen lock during phone calls or change the call screen altogether?
View 12 Replies View RelatedSo my End Call button no longer locks the phone today. I always hit it because I am trying to squeeze all I can from the battery. I did install the Not Call Log app because I wanted the button to return to Home instead of the default, but I did uninstall it. If I long press the button, it still brings up the menu to Power Off, Airplane mode, etc. It just does not quick lock the phone, which I really like.
More info: The end call button does re-lock the phone (turn off the screen) when it is already locked, but still does nothing when I am sitting on the Home screen (when I really want to lock the thing).
I just woke my phone after a phone call and now it says that the sd card is damaged and I need to reformat everything!!! I have over 200 pictures of my newborn son on here that I can't loose. I even tried to hook the phone up to the computer and nothing even shows up.

The screen says "slide to unlock the phone and answer the call" but if I want the call to go to voicemail I Have to let it keep ringing. also how do I get music from Itunes into the Eris?
