HTC Droid Eris : VGA Or Composite Adapter / Video Signal Present On Bottom Connector
May 5, 2010Google turned up nothing, but I wanted to see if anyone here was aware of any VGA or composite video adapter for the Eris. I don't even know if there is a video signal present on the bottom connector. I figured asking here was worth a shot.

Sep 8, 2010The subject says it all. Market downloads and updates fine with wifi off, hangs forever with wifi on. I've seen other threads on this but no answer. I've had this issue non-rooted, and rooted.

Dec 21, 2009When I go to attach a picture file on my droid eris for a message, it automatically resizes it, only problem is, that the pictures were never too big to begin with, usually aroun100-300kb and then when it does resize it, it goes down to 12kb on average, a tiny picture with a big black frame on the screen. What gives? Using stock message program. No other complaints about the message program, so not looking to switch.

Jul 1, 2010Is there an app that will automatically recognize when I am near my bluetooth headset (which I keep in the car) and turn bluetooth on, then off again when I am out of range? Same for my home wifi? I typically turn one off and the other on when I leave the house or come home. Any way to automate it? I know there are ones where you can schedule it, but I don't have a predictable schedule, so that won't work for me.

Apr 22, 2014I'm testing a hybrid phone/scanner that came from China and I noticed the time was wrong on it (we don't use the phone part), so I went into time settings and it was set to automatic date & time and timezone, but when I turned off automatic timezone it said it was still China even though I've been using the device for a week. When I look up our IP on the web it says it's in the US in the correct state so I don't understand why Android is not locating the phone by IP.
I've noticed on other Android phones the time randomly goes incorrect when off cell service (like on my old Droid 2 or Galaxy Tab which I keep the cell service off for), so this appears to be a bug in Android. Is there a way I can smack the phone so it does it automatically or do I always have to expect Google not to do this right and make me have to manually set the timezone (and sometimes the time)?
Android :: No Automatic WiFi Handover Between Access Points
Nov 16, 2010I have a Samsung Galaxy S, running Froyo. I have an issue with WiFi handover, so I am posting here (in addition to the SGS section) in case this is an Android issue rather than an SGS-specific issue. I have two WiFi Access Points (APs) at home, both using the same SSID, but on different channels.
I expected the SGS to automatically move (handover) from one AP to another based on signal strengths that vary depending on where I am. However, this does not happen. It stays on the AP that it is connected to, even when moving to very poor signal levels. I need to manually trigger this (e.g by disconnecting from the AP). Any configuration or Android app. By the way, I also tried configuring the APs with different SSIDs, but this didn't work either.
HTC Droid Eris :: Wifi Won't Reconnect Automatically When In Range Or By Enabling Wifi
Sep 8, 2010It's done this twice now (before and after factory reset). 2.1 OTA, not rooted.
Whenever I turn on the wifi, or I become in range of my WPA2 network, it doesn't always connect. I say "always" because it seems to be random. If I toggle wifi on or off, it doesn't always connect. Sometimes it connects after 30+ seconds. Every other device connects just fine.
The only sure way to get it to connect is to force it to rescan, usually by going to Settings and displaying all SSIDs in range. THEN it connects, always and immediately.
The even sillier thing is, it will alert me of open networks, but never connect to my own saved network.

Is this correct?

Apr 22, 2010I recently activated my old Blackberry Curve because of my frustration with certain features on my Eris. I thought that I would still be able to browse the Internet on my Eris using wifi only but it's not really working. The reason I say "not really" is because I can do a Google search and look at Google News, etc, but I can't really go anywhere else. If I click on a link, or select one of my bookmarks, it just sits there and eventually times out. Does anyone understand why this won't work? When my Eris was activated, I could use wifi in areas where I had no cell coverage. I may reactivate my Eris soon.... I do miss the fun of it. Also the call quality is somewhat better than my Curve - although the Curve gets better reception in marginal signal areas. Love my Curve for push email and the real keyboard. When it's time for an upgrade, I am going to have a hard time deciding whether to go with the latest Blackberry or Android phone. If they come out with a top of the line android phone with a good physical keyboard (not like the Droid's) I will be very tempted.

Mar 15, 2010My Eris does not seem to be taking advantage of the WiFi speed capabilities of my home network. I just tested my network in multiple ways. I'm getting good connection speeds on all devices EXCEPT my Eris. Here's what I did:
1. I went to Speakeasy.net and tested the hard wired internet connection speed to my PC. The result was 22 mbps down.
2. I tested the wireless connection speed to my laptop, also via Speakeasy.net. Again, 22 mbps.
3. I tested the wireless connection speed to my wife's iMac, also via Speakeasy.net. Once again, 22 mbps
4. I tested the connection speed on my Eris (repeatedly) via a speed test app that I downloaded from the Market. Only 2.5 mbps.
5. I loaded the Speakeasy.net website in my Eris' Android browser and ran the same test. Only 2.9 mbps. So, all wired and wireless devices in the house are getting ~ 22 mbps, while my Eris is getting significantly less. Specifications:
-Eris is running default Android 1.5 OS
- Home wireless router is a Netgear Wireless-N Router model # WNR2000 running in WPA-PSK [AES] security mode. "Mode" is set to the highest -- "Up to 300 mbps."

May 18, 2010Hope you guys can help. Since the 2.1 update I have certain apps which appear to be opening in the background when I didn't open them. I have Advanced Task Killer, and when I go in for example it shows Messages running, when I kill it, it will reappear in 30 secs or so, the same with MP3 store. Jan 15, 2010My Eris has some apps that have stopped working. Google Maps & Latitude, Youtube, the Market will not load properly and will either give error messages or won't load at all. Gmail, Voice, Gtalk and the web still work. I have did a couple reboots, pulled the battery, cleared the cache and nothing has helped. Any suggestions short of a factory restore or the Verizon store?
