Google turned up nothing, but I wanted to see if anyone here was aware of any VGA or composite video adapter for the Eris. I don't even know if there is a video signal present on the bottom connector. I figured asking here was worth a shot.

I am hoping that some of the signal issues in the Incredible are not present for the EVO. Has anyone compared their EVO with another Sprint phone? Is the signal the same? I know it may be a bit early to start this topic.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought a cable, manufactured by HTC, which is supposed to give you the ability to stream video out via the device's usb connector. It has a usb connector on one end and splits out to three rca plugs on the other (the usual red, white, and yellow for audio and video). HTC claims that the cable is compatible with my phone (the HTC Eris). When I connected the cable and it didn't work, I wrote to HTC support, which replied that I need software to enable the phone to do this. I searched the anroid market and the web and could not find any such software. I wrote back to HTC asking for them to suggest software to me and they never responded. Does anyone know of such software? Would HTC manufacture a cable in anticipation of somebody developing the proper software?

The HTML 5 canvas supports composite operations (See here).
Is this possible in an Android Canvas? I scanned the API of the Canvas class but couldn't find anything useful. I need at least the composite operation "source-in" or (if this isn't possible) "source-atop".
Any way to turn them off?, is kind of annoying when watching a video.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt was earlier this evening in fact. I went with my friends to check out the iphone 4 for the first time. So i decided to try and see the reception problem for myself. I took out my nexus one and did a side by side comparison. However to my surprise the iphone 4 was already at 2 bars the moment i picked it up, no idea why as my nexus one (Which was on the SAME carrier btw) had more bars on it at the same time. I carried on with the test anyway. You guys can guess the result.
The bars didn't drop completely as the coverage in Singapore is much better. But that doesn't mean it had better reception than my nexus one.
But the interesting thing was the lady beside me noticed us and asked "what are you trying to prove?". So while her daughter plays with the ipad, I kindly explained to her the whole issue with the iphone 4's revolutionary antenna having a ******ed flaw by which it loses signal when you cover the bottom left corner of the phone, unlike my phone which did not suffer as much as a drop. She then proceeded to saying "But they fixed the problem if you use the bumpers right?". Thats when i explained that you should not rely on a silly bumper case to improve reception when the actual problem lies with the antenna's design itself. But again she said "but the problem is fixed with the case right?". With one of the store sales person watching us the entire time, i still carried on and said "no it doesn't solve the problem, it only prevents it from happening". So we continued playing with the phone and she asked "you all are not fans of apple are you?". Trying not to be so direct, i just said "I actually used to have an iphone, but i didn't like it so i got this instead *shows nexus one*".
Ive never done this kind of thing before, so it was kinda thrilling. Especially when you know the staff is looking at you pseudo-promoting a rival phone. After looking at the iphone 4, i really think it does look beautiful, but it will still be crippled by the limitations of the OS regardless of how you jailbreak it. When i left the store i kinda hoped i shed some light into that lady's decision on whether or not to buy an iphone 4 or any other phone (Android or non-android).
I'm wondering if anyone knows of an adapter that will convert the proprietary HTC USB interface (is this Mini USB?) to a standard Micro USB so I can use all of my existing adapters and chargers? Why can't manufacturers adhere to one standard? My Omnia was even worse, had to buy special cables & chargers for that as well.

Is there a way to disable the bottom keys (Menu, Home, Back, Search, etc etc) from vibrating when touch? Even when I dial a number the keys are vibrating (haptic feedback) I've read the manual. Just havent found a way to stop it

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo oddly enough my wife's Eris does not let her long press ANY of the bottom two rows of app icons/widgets. I can long press any of the top two rows apps/widgets fine to remove or add in an empty space. but the bottom two rows I can't remove or add with a long press.anyone else have this issue? I'm trying to figure out whats new but she isn't that into her phone so she never installs stuff on it, im the one tweaking and playing with her phone and I haven't touched it in a week this started happening randomly 2 days ago.

View 10 Replies View RelatedReceived an update on my Eris a few days back for Google Maps (I think that was the application that was targeted). Since then, when I use the Navigator the GPS has had a problem connecting. Sometimes it searches for a GPS signal for almost 30 minutes. I'm in the heart of Denver and have not had this problem before the update. Did anyone else update and are now having connection issues?

So I went back to EvilEris and it worked for a little while, then yesterday stopped working again. So I re-flashed xtrROM4 and it worked all night and this morning. Now it's gone again. Can't make a call, send a text, get online, nothing.
I'm at work, and I never had the 'best' signal, but I'd go by a window and be fine. Now nothing, no matter where I go.
I notice no signal where i would usually have 2 or 3 bars. is there a fix to this? cause its draining my battery if i look at battery usage. i heard doing airplane mode or something fixes it but idk.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to the second 2.1 leak for the eris and my usually always shows that I have one or two bars of signal strength but when I go to about phone it shows that i have -89db signal strength, is that good and is there just something wong with the bar signal indicator or is that a bad signal and if so how can I increase my signal? I already tried using the *228 number thing to update my prl but that didn't help. Before the leak i would have three or for bars
View 6 Replies View RelatedNo matter where I am I NEVER get more than 2 bars and more often than not, there's only 1 bar! Really? I'm not convinced it is only cosmetic. I seem to get most of my calls, but occasionally they go through to voicemail even though I've got the phone right next to me. It is so frustrating to be in the house with no signal! I always had at least 3 signals in my house.
Has anyone contacted Verizon about this? It is the only thing bothering me from 2.1 upgrade. Other than that I find the phone is truly awesome, but it IS a phone! However, I'm afraid to call Verizon tech people who always seem to go through the basics without any real regard to your issue, and have the screw up the phone with some random setting they want to try.
I have had my Eris for a week or so and am getting concerned about it's reception. I am noticing the bars will fluctuate wildly while sitting at my desk in an area that has great Verizon coverage! I am looking at my Signal Strength and it is flipping from 89 dBm 12 asu to 0 dBm 0 asu without even moving the phone! What is going on?? Do I have a bad device, or is this normal? It seems my signal is only 1 to 2 bars most of the time, giving me around -86dbm. Sometimes it will be 3 bars, then it drops to one or none. Wondering if this is killing my battery too. Is there some update that fixes this? Or some test to perform if whats happeneing is normal or what?

Dealbreaker for me if it's not. I realize it's a UI issue only but how would I know the real signal strength if I'm say traveling and outside my usual comfort zone as to known coverage?

All the other phones work on this router and a friends router, so the issue is definitely the phone. is there any settings I could change that might help?

I just got my Eris this past week and am loving the phone. I traded someone on Craigslist for it. My only complaint is that at my house I get poor reception. My family has Verizon and they don't complain about poor signal with their phones. I could never get a signal especially in my room (the basement) on my Samsung Rogue and it's the same thing with my Eris. Half the time I get 0 bars in my room. I sometimes only get 1 or 2 bars when I am at work. I did notice that when I was driving the other day it kept going from 3 bars down to 1 and back up to 2.
My Eris is not rooted or anything. I just got the phone, I'm afraid to root it cuz I might mess something up. So if someone can help me out that would be great. I tried dialing 228 and it didn't work.
I run Wireless Tethering and able to pick up a signal from my laptop. My cousin can also pick up a signal from his iPhone but my brother can't pick it up from his Droid Eris.
