When i want to compose a new text.I tap the face icon top right and when my contacts come up 95 % are there twice.Meaning name twice and number.But if i close out and go to all contacts,groups,update events etc.It does not show double contacts.

Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI want the incoming message to show up on the home page when it is first received, like the iphone does, it covers a good portion of the screen, for a few seconds even when the phone is asleep, then it goes away until you wake it up. I tried Handcent and I'm now using ChompSMS. With Chomp you get this tiny little ticker at the top of the screen, that is all. Is it possible to have that feature with this phone?

Buzz again and Droid! Again. So I think I got two texts when I have one. I don't have handecent or anything. View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I get a text message, my phone alerts me twice. I do have handcent, and I did disable the notifications on the stock text messaging app and it still did this. Then, I uninstalled handcent from my phone thinking maybe I can reinstall it and it would stop notifying me twice; which didn't work. So now I just have the stock messaging app and it's still notifying me twice every time I get a single text message. Any thoughts? It's driving me insane.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I recently rooted my phone to 2.1. Great btw! but that is not the point. When I get a text message, I get a series of notifications. I get one from the stock phone's stock txt msg app, and one from the phone, which link to the stock app. Plus, if i download handsent, thats 3 notifications per text! So I take the stock txt msg app notifications off and everything so that one does not notify me anymore. But I still get a notification from my phone, not the stock txt app. I dont even know what app or program is notifying me of a text!!. The icon on the notification bar is a postcard (similar to the stock txt app). When I pull down the notification bar menu, the icon is an opened envelope. When I click it to check, it directs me to the stick txt app. It is weird and annoying. I just want my handsent app to notify me. How can I go about doing that? Any help would be great. There was some talk about this, but no resolution. Anyone else have this problem?

Alright call me cheap, but I only have the $5 250 messages on my plan but it suits me just fine I never go over.Well i just got my bill and wouldnt you know I went over by almost double. Turns out more often then I thought I was sending blank texts and double texts. People weren't saying anything to me because they thought that it was just user error but when it kept happening people finally started saying something to me.Its not worth trying to argue with verizon over it, its like $14, so I will just up my plan a bit, but just watch it.For some of you its moot because you have unlimited, but for those that dont just thought I would share.

Because when I get a new text, Hand cent will post an icon in the notification panel and there will always be another notification icon next to it, I think it is the stock app doing that. My contacts are synced with my phone through my gmail account. I am able to see my contacts as well as go into the contacts app and send a text from there. I have all my contacts still, but whether it be the facebook app or the 2.1 upgrade, I now have multiple copies of each contact. Within each contact it has the persons number as well as their "main" number which is the same thing just duplicate, and when I go to add a contact for a text or for calling someone, some contacts show up with all their numbers (home, business, etc) 4 or 5 times. In call history, I clicked the little file picture and added their name, saved it as a google contact, and saved it. If I go to People, the name doesnt appear. So I went to the People app, entered their info, made it a google contact, saved. Still didnt work. Even manually synced my google account. So then I changed the "view" to show every option and slowly ticked off each box til I realized that only if "show auto gmail contacts" is ON does my new contact appear. It was also "linked" to 3 other contacts (the same one that I kept adding over and over wondering why it wasnt appearing). So, of course I do NOT want everyone I've ever e-mailed in my contact list, so the question is, how can I add/save any contacts and make them appear in People?

I've only had the phone a couple days, so not a ton of messages yet. But a couple of times now, all messages have gotten 'lumped' together under one user, regardless of who they are received from or sent to.
The first time it happened, I cleared the entire thread. But now it's happening again. Even forwarding a message to someone else gets included in the same thread.
But it seems as if the messages are going to the right people, not sure. The problem is hitting 'reply'. Not sure who will get it.
Last night I downloaded the Handcent SMS client, and am using that now (disabled the notifications, etc., in the default SMS client). The HTC SMS widget seems to work OK with the Handcent client thankfully, but it is only showing the last 'conversation' of a long thread. So not sure if it's a default message app issue or not.
Can I send one of the ringtones I downloaded to someone in text message so they can use it as a ringtone?
