My Desire wont go on the net, sign into google and the facebook app is erroring.it is a 3g/H area and the symbol is up the top yet it wont surf the web or anything. can anyone help?

i just bought my htc from 2 days ago and i am very pleased by the screen performance and the speed performance and the large amount of options and programs you get with this phone.here is the problem , when i use google maps the mobile must connect to the internet to download the maps and this really cost me alot of money in my country , so my questions is ' is there an option or a way to download those maps using the pc and save them to my htc desire?

On my Hero i had different sounds set up for my text messages and my e-mails. For some reason i just can't figure out how to do it on Desire and i really hope that you can have seperate sounds. Any help would be really appreciated. <THE MAIN ISSUE>
The second thing is that to save pictures off the internet i know that you longpress and get the options. However with google images not for some reason you can't do that
The alternatives i've found are to either do the usual longpress options on either the small thumbnail in google search, but that gives a rubbish little pic =/
OR
open the image and then follow link to original page it is from, then save from there.
But both of these are a bit of a faff. So although its not a big issue i'd like to know if there is a way to save from the individual pictures if you know what i mean.
Just another thing i've thought of... because i have an orange branded Desire my music player has a rubbish link to orange music world or something by the play, and skip track buttons...
any way to get rid?
I keep having to input CAPCHA.My phone frequently has a pop-up box that stops me from doing anything. It says "Google Sign-in" and it has the CATCHA box.I have a HTC EVO 4G, with an aftermarket battery. I am on wifi a lot as I live in an area with a lot of free wifi and I have wifi at home and at my girlfriend's house. I have had Android since the Dev G1, but never had this with the G1.The problem is, I have to enter it several times a day, and it only seems to pop up when I try to do something, like answer the phone or type a text message. Since I have no keyboard, these arbitrary sequences of letters are a real pain. About half the time it makes me enter two sequences of letters-I do not know if that means I did the first set wrong or what, but I have to do CAPTCHA every day.

It now boots and asks me login to my google account and now it freezes on 'signing into google'.. And after a couple of hours of waiting (I figured it was just downloading alot of photos or something) it won't cancel either.

I unchecked the automatic sign in box in the settings and forced closed and reopened the program again. When I open it, it automatically signs me into one account. It's extremely annoying. I hope I don't have to do a full reset of the phone because I already have so much stuff on it already, including a lot of personal data. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am all of the sudden having a problem with the Droid Eris.I keep getting a pop up Google sign in on the screen.the username shown on the screen has gmail address(part of it is my address but at the end of my address there are 2 extra numbers added to it (i do not have numbers in my address (do not know how it got there) there is no way to change the address on the pop up, but i try to put in my password that I have and it does not work.I can access gmail from a computer with my correct gmail address and PW.Is there any way to get in contact with Google (haha) and Verizon says it is Googles problem.I want to try to get back my correct gmail addy on the Eris, if anyone can help ? All I can do is talk and receive text and go on web, If I try to go onto Menu, Market it asks me the PW.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've had my Sprint Hero for around 4 months now, it is not rooted, running stock 1.5.I was trying to check the marketplace for any updates to my apps and it brought me to the set up google account screen.I've tried signing in and It tells me that there was an error on sign in and my SIM card might not be provisioned for data. Obviously as a Sprint customer I don't have a SIM card, is there anything I can do to get things working again?

Just a moment ago I had the little warning triangle with the sign through it. I opened it up and it was a message that said google sign in error.It gave me one of those stylized arrangements of letters that i had to punch to make sure I wasn't a bot. Generally stuff like that makes me fairly wary so I closed it and opened both my gmail folder and google calendar (which I just started using today actually). Both worked fine. Was this a fishing scam of some kind? I've been reading some reports of how fishing scams are coming over through SMS and I've gotten some of the more obvious ones for walmart cards etc, but this one was new to me.

When I enter my email and password it says xxxxxxx@something.be does not use gmail and then it suggests alternatives ending at gmail.com.I do not wish to create a new gmail account, I simply want to use the same email and password that I also use on my computer to login to google and latitude and so on. WTF? Also it seems to be displaying different pics for some friends on my phone then it does on my desktop. On the Speed Test app, the highest speeds I get are 1.8m/bs downloads and around 500kpbs upload. However, those were at off peak times at night etc (probably when nobody is using the net).Generally I get anything from 0.3 m/bs to 0.9 m/bs though. Lately I've been experiencing some inconsistent internet speeds and reconnection attempts so for I've gone back to the default settings. Tbh though I'm not sure if it makes much difference.

Prior to the *228 she didn't have the sign in error, tested with reboot and also airplane only mode. LOL seems to be the error. Don't know how to get it back up to the 51807.

I even managed to download the BarCode scanner application.That's where the problems begun. Since auto-sync was on, all my gmail contacts were synced with my phone contacts. Now since I did not want to see my gmail contacts every time I try and make a call, I performed a factory reset on the phone (since there was no other way to get rid of all the gmail contacts at once). I then turned sync off and tried to sign in to my Google account, but it refused to do so. I get a message saying: "Unable to establish a reliable connection with server. This may be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. Please contact customer care if the problem persists." I even tried connecting with sync on just for the heck of it but it still did not work.The Samsung Customer Care service in India is truly pathetic. They said that: "We do not provide support for such technical problem" Wtf? They then proceeded to give a regional center number, which when I called.

Anyways i did this to the point where it required a google id login. So i sigh and attempt to login, does not work, i try 10 more times before i find out that this is an ongoing android problem. I can sign in OK from my windows-based PC and netbook - but from Android, the email/password are not recognised.
