View 12 RepliesThere's something wrong with my Desire. Sometimes the multi touch doesn't work at all. In that case, I have to reboot the phone. I don't know why. This thing happened 4 times today. And another problem is turning on the Desire. Sometimes the phone vibrates shortly for 5-6 times and cannot turn on unless I take out the battery and re-insert it. What's wrong with the phone?

View 1 Replies View Relatedtoday my desire for the first time turned off by itself.it happened while the mobile internet was turned on and i was trying to load a youtube video. the phone just turned off. i turned it back on, and it turned off again.i managed to turn off the mobile internet, and the problem stopped. i tried watching the same youtube vid via wireless and the problem never happened.i then tried using google navigator with the mobile internet on and phone turned off once again. thing is i have had the phone for 2-3 months and this has never happened before. this morning my phone updated 3 apps, "quick settings", "advance task killer" and "google maps". could these updates be the source of the problem? o2 said to try the sim in another phone and rule out a network fault. still need to get round to doing that.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Desire on Vodafone in the UK. Upgraded to Froyo using the official method the other week. Not sure if it is since then, but it's happened a lot the last few days, and it definitely didn't do this before the upgrade, but it seems that my Desire is now turning on GPS every few minutes - the icon flashes away in the notification bar. I have no idea why. Any idea what's happening, and how I can work out what app is causing this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedScreen on my Desire occasionally lights up for 1-2 seconds for no reason then goes back to standby again. Happens once or twice every couple of days (could be more often but I don't stare at it the whole time). No notifications or calls coming in. I suspect it maybe one of the apps syncing or something, but as this happens so rarely it's hard to determine which.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would love to make my telephone switch my computer off when I go out of the house, when I leave a zone.
Is there any way of doing that? All it would need to, is send an e-mail or something.
I use my hands free headphones that come with the desire to recieve/make calls whilst I am cycling. The only problem is that once the call has finished the screen comes back on, even when it is in my pocket.Meaning I end up pressing buttons, changing music tracks, opening apps and making calls. My iPhone used to just stay in "power save mode" with the screen off once a call had finished.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIve tried turning the phone off and also removing the battery but still no luck. It still says ''turning on'' when i go into settings.I dont no if theres something wrong with the phone as i don't think its the network because i can still make calls and the bars are stuck on two.I'm on orange and they normally have good reception/network.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have just updated to 2.2 and I am now receiving the age old hassle of 2 message notifications. Now I know that I need to disable the message client but I cannot for the life of me remember how to do it.
I have Handcent installed
Something like:
Settings>etc>etc>etc
Sorry if it's been done but I can't find it!! Loads of references to turning it off but I can't for love nor money work out how to do it!
Any way to quickly hit a button to mute the phone when you go to sleep? Don't like my phone ringing when I am sleeping. On my G2 I just hold the power button and the mute option pops up. Or if I power on I can slide it to the right which mutes the phone. Side it left and it powers on. My gf has the HTC Desire Z I cant seem to find it. Only way I found out was to adjust the volume to lowest setting but this takes time there must be an easier way.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHave you any tips/advice? Music is the main thing I use a phone for but so far the Desire seems very lacking. We'll start of with actually putting music on the phone, as an ex iPhone owner iTunes was a breeze, organise the music the way you want then just sync, simples, With the Desire however its just not that simple, you create a folder called music and just copy all over, simple in itself, the issue however is there is no organisation, everything is through each other, just thrown on there so finding anything is a nightmare. Then there is Podcasts, On my Nokia X6 I go to podcasts, download what I want and like most phones the podcast goes into a podcast folder in the music player, nice and simple, not so on the HTC Desire, you have to get a podcast app, then you have to start entering long xml addresses and its just a major pain, again I'm sure i'm missing something.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI see another thread on Locale, but it seems to be focused on it technical shortcomings. I thought a thread about how people are using this app would be helpful.
Now... I use Locale for the following:
- Turning the ringer down when I get to work (obviouse one)
- Turning GPS/Bluetooth/wifi on when I plug it in the phone (think car dock)
- Turn on Wifi when I get near my known hot spots.
- Turn off GPS/Bluetooth/wifi off and turn down brightness when my battery is low.
And the last one is a good one for me...
- I have a GV number. When I call my phone from that number, it turns the ringer volume all the way up and it turns on wifi and GPS. This is my "lost phone aid". It turns on the locating features so I can see where the phone is using iGoogle and Latitude, and I can hear the phone if it is "in the cushions" on vibrate.
Anyone else get creative with Locale?
I was wondering if there's a way to stop mobile data being turned on when wifi is turned off? I usually have mobile data turned off (using Extended Controls widget) to conserve battery and I use wifi most of the time, so it's very annoying that mobile data comes on every single time I turn wifi off.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing the default message app, is there a way of turning off the incoming text preview in the notifications bar? I know you can turn off the incoming text notification altogether. But that isn't ideal. I would like the phone to vibrate and produce a notification for new incoming texts but not show message content. This can be done using "handcent" message app but I'd prefer to use the phone default.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so I know you can turn the screen ON with the Track Pad. Using a custom ROM. I have my phone set up this way, but is there an app out there that allows you to turn it OFF again, again using the track pad?
It seems weird that you can do one, but not the other, and I'd rather just press the button facing me, than have to pick my phone up to use the power button. Just to kill the screen.
When I trun my phone on, the scene changes from the scene I had chosen (the waving grass) to "current (unsaved)".If I change it to the one I prefer (saved with my name) I am asked to "save or cancel" the incorrect one.I click cancel, and all is well. But why does it change and how do I keep the scene selected that I want?I just want it to stick on the scene that I have chosen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the last few days the battery indicator LED stays orange instead of turning green when the phone is on charge but has fully charged.
The phone is switched off and left on charge over night, for the last 4 months since Ive had the phone when I get up in the morning the battery indicator LED has turned green to show that the battery is fully charged, as it should do. Its just since the weekend it now stays orange. The battery is charging as well as before, and when I switch it on in the morning its at 100%, so why is it staying orange when its fully charged?I was wondering if anyone has come accross this problem before and has any idea where the fault would lie. I dont personally know what exactly would be causing the handset to not detect the battery is fully charged? Also if the phone isnt detecting that the battery is fully charged could it cause any problems if it carrys on charging instead of cutting off the charger after its fully charged?Apart from this the phone is working perfectly and my battery life is pretty good for a Desire from what ive read online.
I am developing on 2.1 and location updates will not resume after removing them and adding them again. Is this an issue with the system?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI hope i'm not just being completely dumb here, but I just switched from a Blackberry to an Evo. I know on my BB there was a way to shut down the internet when it was not in use to keep the battery from draining. When I get online on my Evo I don't see where to actually close out of a session. I have just been hitting the home button, or back button. It gets me back to my home screen, but I'm not sure if this is actually turning the internet off. Can someone please let me know if I am doing this right, or is there another way?
