View 4 Repliestoday my desire for the first time turned off by itself.it happened while the mobile internet was turned on and i was trying to load a youtube video. the phone just turned off. i turned it back on, and it turned off again.i managed to turn off the mobile internet, and the problem stopped. i tried watching the same youtube vid via wireless and the problem never happened.i then tried using google navigator with the mobile internet on and phone turned off once again. thing is i have had the phone for 2-3 months and this has never happened before. this morning my phone updated 3 apps, "quick settings", "advance task killer" and "google maps". could these updates be the source of the problem? o2 said to try the sim in another phone and rule out a network fault. still need to get round to doing that.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHave you any tips/advice? Music is the main thing I use a phone for but so far the Desire seems very lacking. We'll start of with actually putting music on the phone, as an ex iPhone owner iTunes was a breeze, organise the music the way you want then just sync, simples, With the Desire however its just not that simple, you create a folder called music and just copy all over, simple in itself, the issue however is there is no organisation, everything is through each other, just thrown on there so finding anything is a nightmare. Then there is Podcasts, On my Nokia X6 I go to podcasts, download what I want and like most phones the podcast goes into a podcast folder in the music player, nice and simple, not so on the HTC Desire, you have to get a podcast app, then you have to start entering long xml addresses and its just a major pain, again I'm sure i'm missing something.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you programatically do this in the Android SDK:
Dial a phone number
Bypass the keypad screen
Send additional DTMF after the number is dialed
Bypass the send DTMF tone prompt
I have managed to do 1 till 3 by dialing +555-1212w1234 but I am wondering if anyone knows how to bypass the send DTMF tone prompt.
There's something wrong with my Desire. Sometimes the multi touch doesn't work at all. In that case, I have to reboot the phone. I don't know why. This thing happened 4 times today. And another problem is turning on the Desire. Sometimes the phone vibrates shortly for 5-6 times and cannot turn on unless I take out the battery and re-insert it. What's wrong with the phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Desire on Vodafone in the UK. Upgraded to Froyo using the official method the other week. Not sure if it is since then, but it's happened a lot the last few days, and it definitely didn't do this before the upgrade, but it seems that my Desire is now turning on GPS every few minutes - the icon flashes away in the notification bar. I have no idea why. Any idea what's happening, and how I can work out what app is causing this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedScreen on my Desire occasionally lights up for 1-2 seconds for no reason then goes back to standby again. Happens once or twice every couple of days (could be more often but I don't stare at it the whole time). No notifications or calls coming in. I suspect it maybe one of the apps syncing or something, but as this happens so rarely it's hard to determine which.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have researched extensively and am pretty sure this is not possible. I want to make a call and then inject DTMF when the far end answers. So 2 questions Is it possible ?
If not, how do I work to get it on the list of upcoming features to be provided on Android. I can say that this is possible on BlackBerry and Symbian, so Android is falling behind in this regard.
Are ther any existing Android application, working similar to the following working steps
1. Automatic receive the call, then
2. Play some sound out to the caller, wait for DTMF response, then
3. Record the caller sound (in the case that they permit, by pressing 1 as DTMF response)
4. Callee can play back the recoreded sound later. If there aren't any, is it possible now for provided Android SDK to develop it.
I use my hands free headphones that come with the desire to recieve/make calls whilst I am cycling. The only problem is that once the call has finished the screen comes back on, even when it is in my pocket.Meaning I end up pressing buttons, changing music tracks, opening apps and making calls. My iPhone used to just stay in "power save mode" with the screen off once a call had finished.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIve tried turning the phone off and also removing the battery but still no luck. It still says ''turning on'' when i go into settings.I dont no if theres something wrong with the phone as i don't think its the network because i can still make calls and the bars are stuck on two.I'm on orange and they normally have good reception/network.

Any way to quickly hit a button to mute the phone when you go to sleep? Don't like my phone ringing when I am sleeping. On my G2 I just hold the power button and the mute option pops up. Or if I power on I can slide it to the right which mutes the phone. Side it left and it powers on. My gf has the HTC Desire Z I cant seem to find it. Only way I found out was to adjust the volume to lowest setting but this takes time there must be an easier way.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne feature which i did not fiund on the Android 2.0 is the ability to send DTMF tones during a call using the contacts list. Whilst on a call i would like to be able to select contacts and send that contact as a DTMF tone. View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any way I can dynamically generate uplink DTMF tone (ie the receiver hears it)? When I looked at the android source code I saw a function called startDTMF() which is exactly what I need, but I couldn't find any API that allows me to access that function.I then thought of using ToneGenerator and tried to inject the sound to the mic stream, and again I couldn't find a way to achieve this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI see another thread on Locale, but it seems to be focused on it technical shortcomings. I thought a thread about how people are using this app would be helpful.
Now... I use Locale for the following:
- Turning the ringer down when I get to work (obviouse one)
- Turning GPS/Bluetooth/wifi on when I plug it in the phone (think car dock)
- Turn on Wifi when I get near my known hot spots.
- Turn off GPS/Bluetooth/wifi off and turn down brightness when my battery is low.
And the last one is a good one for me...
- I have a GV number. When I call my phone from that number, it turns the ringer volume all the way up and it turns on wifi and GPS. This is my "lost phone aid". It turns on the locating features so I can see where the phone is using iGoogle and Latitude, and I can hear the phone if it is "in the cushions" on vibrate.
Anyone else get creative with Locale?
I was wondering if there's a way to stop mobile data being turned on when wifi is turned off? I usually have mobile data turned off (using Extended Controls widget) to conserve battery and I use wifi most of the time, so it's very annoying that mobile data comes on every single time I turn wifi off.
