When i get sms message i get the notification light but it does not vibrate despite all settings set to vibrate. also, how do i set up sim lock? i.e. when i turn my phone on i need to put in a 4 digit code to activate the sim?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know there are other threads on putting your phone on vibrate, but haven't found an answer to my particular issue. When I'm in the lock/unlock screen, I can go two ways. Swipe right and the phone unlocks, swipe left and the silent mode is on/off. Is there a way to make it go into vibrate mode on/off instead of silent? I NEVER use silent but I ALWAYS use vibrate, and would much rather make that quick switch at the lock/unlock screen than using locale or volume control after unlocking.

What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

Turn the vibrator on. Parameters milliseconds How long to vibrate for.
However the behavior I am seeing is not what is described. Instead of a number of milliseconds, it seems this parameter translates into an "intensity"?
I tried: vibrator.vibrate(200);
And I got a sustained vibration which didn't stop until I exited my app. Initially I thought perhaps the api docs were wrong and the parameter was seconds, not milliseconds, so I tried: vibrator.vibrate(2);
This time I got the same behavior, i.e. continuous vibration, but the vibration was very gentle.. almost in-perceptible. This leads me to conclude that the parameter translates into an intensity, not a time.
Is it possible that this is a "feature" of the particular device? In my case HTC Desire.
I'm running 2.1 as my crappy telco hasn't distributed an update to 2.2, but it worries me that this behavior may differ from device to device.
Sorry if this has been bought up in the past but how do you get the phone to vibrate on incoming messages? I have the phone set to vibrate on incoming messages but does not work. does vibrate for phone calls though.

1) Vibrate on Notify: On
2) Vibrate on Ringer: On
3) Silent Mode: Vibrate
I have a Droid X with the OTA 2.2 rooted and when I put the phone in Vibrate the phone will not vibrate at all not for phone calls, text, or email? I have "MINI INFO WIDGET" and when I go in there to adjust the volume to vibrate it will work but then when I try to go back to Sound Profile I have to manually adjust the sound again? I have Vibrate Widget and when that is selected it goes to silent only. I tried Uninstalling MINI INFO and VIBRATE WIDGET but I still have the same result sooo it can't be the programs.

I have went through all of the settings and notifications and changed everything to "never" vibrate. But still when I receive a new message it does the 3 or 4 vibrate tones. So I downloaded an app called GPS Status, which shows that the GPS detects around 5 satellites but no matter how long I wait is unable to get a lock on any of them. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried googling and searching for applications, but ironically, all I've found is people with the opposite problem - who are lucky enough to be asked for a password, but don't want it? Just got my HTC Desire, it is really amazing, but I HATE the stupid lock screen 'pattern' - I am amazed there doesn't seem to be any actually secure option considering the amount of important data the phone may hold (access to email in 2 clicks from home screen + no password = epic fail), especially as when I had a quick go to see what would happen, the pattern seems to allow unlimited attempts - just have to wait 30 seconds between every 5 .Turning my phone off whenever it has to be unattended is just ridiculous, even though I doubt I'll ever let there be a need to, I still want to make sure things are secure.Is there any way to replace the pattern with a PIN or password? Preferably free but I won't mind paying for an application if it's the only way.
