Android :: PDA Net / G1 And Wireless Home Network?
Dec 28, 2009new here but have been a reader for some time.I'm trying to figure out if I can setup up a wireless network for my other laptops in the house to run off my desktop and my G1 usb tethered to PDANET?In other words I have no cable or dsl but can I connect my lynksys wireless router to my desktop while it's connected to my G1 and somehow create a wireless network to share?

Oct 6, 2010I don't know how to set this up on my Droid X and Windows computers (XP Pro and Vista on the Wife's). Can someone point me to a tutorial or better yet, lay out here how to do this? I want to sync or move files between the phone and the computers, move pictures and music back and forth and anything else I desire. I see the DLNA and the Media Share stuff...I just don't know exactly how to set this up. I could probably figure it out, but I thought I'd ask because I'm sure someone already has set this up, knows how to direct the rest of us, and ultimately wants to make our lives easier.

Jul 15, 2010I recieved my HTC Desire 3 days ago, and I really like it, but I have 1 problem. Where I work we got a open wireless network with password protection when you open your web browser. I got no problems connecting to the network, but I dont get the pop-up box where I have to write in the password. Tried with the built in browser and opera mini, but neither of em work. Anyone else got a problem like that, or any idea how I can get this working?

Jul 27, 2010I had the phone for about a month now and not changed anything but its just stopped sending. When i set it up initially the outgoing server was an ntl one which was suprising as i've always had to use o2 on other phones but it worked a treat on my ntl. but now its only sending mails if i am on home wifi connection not on the 02 network.

I have checked and have the same outgoing settings as my home pc (smtp.dsl.pipex.com) but this doesn't work. Someone suggested I used smtp.orange.co.uk but got the message cannot connect to server.

Oct 29, 2010I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?

What do I need to do to connect my DHD to the home network so I can exchange files with my network drive without involving my computer?Do I need to set up a VPN? If so the phone's asking for a load of data I just don't understand.sorry if this is absurdly basic and thanks for your time.

May 25, 2010I cant seem to find an answer for my problem. Gmail app on my my Touch 3g is not sending emails. The fixes I have found say to clear the cache under applications, but I can't find google mail or google mail storage under applications. I cant find where to reinstall gmail app from either. I am running Cyanogen 5.0.7 stable.

1. He is on my Facebook contact. (His facebook pic appears in my Desire contact list)

3. He is added as a 'Phone Contact' as well.
I sent him a text few days ago but don't remember if it was using facebook or my phone (network provider sms) but now when I go in to 'Messages' and send him a message, I just can't figure out if I am sending him a message via Facebook or to his mobile number.

Emails received in that account go to GMail and I can send an email from GMail but put the "from" email address as my school email). I can't figure out how to do this on my Droid though.

The EVO 4g says it is connected to my network OK, but the phone doesn't appear as a device or drive anywhere on the network where I can see it. USB connection works OK.

Is there a way to assign a name to each phone so that they are identified on the router like computers and other devices are? Currently the Android phones just show up as "unknown" device. The Wi-Fi is secured with 128-bit encryption, so I'm not concerned with the neighbors connecting, but it would be nice to be able to see which phones are on the network at any one time.

Dec 3, 2009Been running with my Droid now for 3 weeks and I'm finally going to start playing with running wifi at work (my cube and only my cube I have 3g issues ) and I connected to it a couple days ago. Our network admin in his infinite wisdom created a pass key that is like 46 characters long. So I entered it, and was connected. Fast forward to today, I enabled wifi again and tried connecting to the network and it asked me for the pass key again. Does it now save that? Is it supposed to? I would assume that would be a pretty big PITA that every time I want to connect to wireless network that I've connected to before it re-asks me my password.
