I recently changed my email address from Googlemail.com to Gmail.com now I cannot sign into Google talk because my googlemail is not recognised. Does someone know how to change it?

I just realized that my status changes the moment I unlock my phone. I rather use Google's app but may give up on it if I can't change this behavior.

First, the entire window is taken up by the input screen and the keyboard, so
you don't get to see what your partner is typing (other than an abbreviated preview in the notification bar).
Second, every time you press 'enter' to send the message, the keyboard disappears. This can be a good and bad thing depending on what you're trying to do. But, most often, it interrupts the flow of the conversation and slows me down.
I wish there was a way to change this...
I know this has been discussed before but I just can't seem to fine the answer. I keep getting the notification that Google Talk Authentication Failed. The problem is, because it fails to Sign-In I can't access any menu's in Google Talk to disable it. I go into settings and stop the process and kill the program, but before you know it, it is trying to sign in again. I read somewhere that Google Talk is not available in UK which is probably why it can't sign in anyway.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a question about Google Talk. Is there any way to keep it from disconnecting after a while after the screen has been turned off? I have "always-on mobile data" active but after a minute or so after turning the screen of Google Talk disconnects and I don't receive any messages until I manually turn on the screen and wait for it to reconnect and retrieve the new messages.Just to note it doesn't actually show the splash screen saying signing into Google Talk it just says "Lost connection to server. Messages will be sent when online" bellow the most recent message.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been running the official OTA HTC FroYo update for a few weeks now and haven't really had any problems. However, today I noticed that the Google Talk shortcut when tapping a contact's photo has disappeared and has been replaced with another Phone icon. When clicking this icon I am prompted to choose from a list of completely unrelated applications to complete the action with? Google Talk is NOT listed on this screen. This icon only shows up on contacts who are online on Google Talk, so I assume that the 2.2 update has somehow broken the Talk shortcut in the phonebook?

I clicked some of activities listed, and most would do nothing/just open normally, apart from when I chose "People" and came across a dialer screen that I've never seen before:
It's listed under "People com.android.htcdialer" and looks quite nice but I haven't figured out a way to access it apart from navigating through the Google Talk error! Has anyone else seen this screen?
I just changed my googlemail account to gmail and all of a sudden I am getting a notification message "Google Talk failed to log in: If this is a Google Apps account, confirm that chat service is enabled for this account." any ideas why, what or how?

1) How do I change the settings? I only have one (Telus SP) and it's locked. I can't change anything whatsoever
2) What are the right settings supposed to be?
3) Does the phone need to be "rooted"? I don't even really know what that entails, I just know you need to root a phone before you can do some things.

For instance, my friend has just left his job and his old work email is set at the primary email on my contacts, so I want to change that to his hotmail email yet when I go to edit, there's no way of removing the old email and setting the hotmail as primary.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone has been using Google Talk exclusively for SMS and ditched their texting w Verizon all together. I mainly ask as I am curious how reliable it is as a replacement for SMS. I'd love to cut my phone bill by $20 a month. My friend (5-6 months ago) said he was having issues w Gtalk in regards to some msgs not sending, or he never actually received them to his phone. He had issues with his N1 on Tmobile. Is anyone still experiencing similar problems? My SMS MUST function and be completely reliable as I use it constantly to communicate with my managers.

I have just realised the benefits of putting everything onto your Google account, and how it auto stores and updates your addresses, numbers, and emails etc. is there any way to change your phone contacts to Google contacts? without having to type them all out again. I unchecked the automatic sign in box in the settings and forced closed and reopened the program again. When I open it, it automatically signs me into one account. It's extremely annoying. I hope I don't have to do a full reset of the phone because I already have so much stuff on it already, including a lot of personal data. I added a few of my family members to my chat as SMS (just their phone numbers), and I can chat with them via chat for me, and SMS for them in any browser. Is it possible to send SMS via Google Talk on Android? I assume it's possible because it's possible on a PC, but why hasn't Google added the support? Now, I can't seem to find it anywhere both on the phone or online? The closest I could find is google services which goes through the Dolphin browser - clumsy in my opinion.

We're both using google talk. There's was another person on my end of the phone chatting with my brother and I didn't notice it. The text highlighted Red is the douchbag hacker. It will be back and running in about 5 minutes and say it has been running since the phone has been awake, like it was never turned off to begin with or the time running would be real low. What apps and other stuff use this service?It seemed before the update, once I killed it, it would NEVER be running.
