I just changed my googlemail account to gmail and all of a sudden I am getting a notification message "Google Talk failed to log in: If this is a Google Apps account, confirm that chat service is enabled for this account." any ideas why, what or how?

Starting two days ago my Nexus One wont log into Google Talk, I get the message:
Authentication Error
Google Talk failed to login. If this is a Google Apps account, confirm that chat is enabled for this account. I have logged into my domain Dashboard and Chat is on for my domain, Chat works in Gmail just fine. Everything else on my phone seems to be working, just not Google Talk. I just got the phone, I'm in Tucson with T-Mobile service and I've tried both over WIFI and over Edge/3G.
Periodically I change my passwords and yesterday after doing so, and updating my htc mail settings I cannot access my mail. I am getting an error saying authentication failed. It had worked perfectly fine then several hours later I got the message when I went to check my mail - actually the lack of. Because I had noticed gmail notifier updating my mail on my computer but nothing on my phone.
I read elsewhere to try it on just a 3g connection, or going to wifi, neither worked. I have deleted the account, and tried setting it up from scratch to no avail. The gmail stock app works, I just like the mail widget from htc.
I cannot log into my hotmail account. Keep getting the message 'Authentication failed. Please verify username/password' even though the details are correct.

Is there any way that this can be done on *Android*? I was trying this out with a friend the other day, and normally when you start a chat on Gmail via Gtalk, it will show up on your Android devices in your Google Talk conversations. Unfortunately, when trying to use the chat to SMS function, that doesn't work.
I use the Gmail app for business, but I'd like to use Google Talk with my personal Gmail account. I can't figure out how to do this? Is it possible? Seems completely lame if not.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHi everyone, I recently flashed sapphire 1.0.0, frozen yogurt, bugless beast 0.4 with clockwork mod recovery V 2.0.1.3, and had success with all roms above, except for the fact that in sapphire, i'm greeted by the droid setup tutorial, which is completely non-responsive, (I remove the setupwizard.apk from the Gapps .zip which causes it to set up without a hitch), and in all of the mentioned roms, when I attempt to use gmail, gtalk, or the market they all crash on startup. In the market I see a hint of the EULA before im booted back to the home screen. I'm coming from 2.2 build number "voles-userdebug 2.2 FRFxx 49593 test-keys".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know this has been discussed before but I just can't seem to fine the answer. I keep getting the notification that Google Talk Authentication Failed. The problem is, because it fails to Sign-In I can't access any menu's in Google Talk to disable it. I go into settings and stop the process and kill the program, but before you know it, it is trying to sign in again. I read somewhere that Google Talk is not available in UK which is probably why it can't sign in anyway.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question about Google Talk. Is there any way to keep it from disconnecting after a while after the screen has been turned off? I have "always-on mobile data" active but after a minute or so after turning the screen of Google Talk disconnects and I don't receive any messages until I manually turn on the screen and wait for it to reconnect and retrieve the new messages.Just to note it doesn't actually show the splash screen saying signing into Google Talk it just says "Lost connection to server. Messages will be sent when online" bellow the most recent message.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been running the official OTA HTC FroYo update for a few weeks now and haven't really had any problems. However, today I noticed that the Google Talk shortcut when tapping a contact's photo has disappeared and has been replaced with another Phone icon. When clicking this icon I am prompted to choose from a list of completely unrelated applications to complete the action with? Google Talk is NOT listed on this screen. This icon only shows up on contacts who are online on Google Talk, so I assume that the 2.2 update has somehow broken the Talk shortcut in the phonebook?

I clicked some of activities listed, and most would do nothing/just open normally, apart from when I chose "People" and came across a dialer screen that I've never seen before:
It's listed under "People com.android.htcdialer" and looks quite nice but I haven't figured out a way to access it apart from navigating through the Google Talk error! Has anyone else seen this screen?
Every time that I try to upload a video it gets to 100 percent and then says failed authentication... What am I doing wrong? I made sure that I was logged in and it doesn't work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLately (last 3 weeks) I've been getting those prompts to copy a word code in order to access my gmail. i get three of them actually. I'm assuming it's because i have three gmail accounts set up on my phone. i don't know if these prompts are for syncing or accessing my gmail. all i know is they're random, never at startup, and not necessarily prompted by anything specific that i do,,,like trying to get into email or something. they just pop up.
They're accompanies by an orange exclamation mark in the top notification bar. it has never occurred to me until now as i post, to pull down the notification to see what it's about.
I have received an update for froyo and i have installed it. But i cannot notice any change in the UI / (any froyo enhacements). But the software information of my phone is showing "Andriod Version is 2.2" and the software number is 2.13.707.1. When i'm trying to check for the updates manually "your phone is up to date" message is displayed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedPeople may have noticed the recent TLD change for UK gmail addresses previously googlemail.co.uk and now gmail.com. With this, it seems to have messed up my syncing and authentication for some reason. I changed over the other day and ever since I kept getting a message saying the authentication failed. I then added my gmail address as another account and set it to sync gmail (can't sync the calendar for some reason it's not an option). I have not received any push notifications of new mail and I have to manually refresh from within the mail app to get new e-mails. I don't want to remove the previous googlemail.co.uk as it says I have to restore my phone to factory settings (possibly losing messages etc.)

Somehow the phone automatically resets the Authentication setting and there I can't send email.
My question: how can I prevent the Desire from automatically place a checkmark next to "Authentication Required"?

I have the Gmail and Talk apps but I do not see the same Chat/Call Phone/Keypad option that I see on my laptop. How I can get the keypad to show on my phone so that I can dial out? I mainly ask as I am curious how reliable it is as a replacement for SMS. I'd love to cut my phone bill by $20 a month. My friend (5-6 months ago) said he was having issues w Gtalk in regards to some msgs not sending, or he never actually received them to his phone. He had issues with his N1 on Tmobile. Is anyone still experiencing similar problems? My SMS MUST function and be completely reliable as I use it constantly to communicate with my managers.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have had a desire for a couple of months now and have recently been getting an error with the gmail app. Whenever I open it and scroll down it comes up with "Loading conversations ...." then it pops up the force close error "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". It then closes the Gmail app.I have tried to the factory reset option and clearing the gmail app cache but this does not rectify this error. Short of sending the phone back to Vodafone or HTC I am stuck.

I'd like to be able to use Google Talk on my Hero and his BB in lieu of SMS for chatting with him while at work, so that I can turn my phone on Airplane mode with only wifi on to save my battery (signal is terrible in my office)My concern is that I'm not sure if Google Talk is always connected like his BBM seems to be. Anyone have any insight on this? I see that "Automatically Log In" is an option....but say for instance we don't chat for a few days and he decides to send me a message. I unchecked the automatic sign in box in the settings and forced closed and reopened the program again. When I open it, it automatically signs me into one account. It's extremely annoying. I hope I don't have to do a full reset of the phone because I already have so much stuff on it already, including a lot of personal data. This is something that I just can't get by because I need to start using G Talk now.

I added a few of my family members to my chat as SMS (just their phone numbers), and I can chat with them via chat for me, and SMS for them in any browser. Is it possible to send SMS via Google Talk on Android? I assume it's possible because it's possible on a PC, but why hasn't Google added the support? I guess the carriers wouldn't like it much, but that shouldn't stop Google.
