Android :: Draw A New Line / Get A Carriage Return Drawn In Custom View
Jan 1, 2010This is really frustrating, I am trying to get a carriage return drawn in my custom view and nothing is working. I have tried 'System.getProperty("line.separator")' but that makes it say null and I have tried '

' and those just both draw a little square. I am using the canvas.drawText meathod.

Aug 9, 2010I am struggling to add a contact to a new text message, b4 2.1 I just use to start typing a contacts name into the contact box and it would automatically find the contact, now I have to tap the button next to contact and it lists everyone about 15 times each, which means it takes forever to load them up! Has anyone else had this problem? any ideas how I can sort it? I only have Google contacts marked on my contacts menu!

HTC Desire :: Invalid SMS Recipient When Composing SMS
Apr 20, 2010I'm struggling with my Desire when composing a new SMS. If I open the Messages application, click on New message and then select a recipient, I get the error "Invalid recipient". If instead I reply to an SMS or select a contact from the contact list and choose to create an SMS, then the recipient is filled in correctly and I don't get any error. Is anyone aware of the possible reason for this and how can I get it fixed?

Oct 29, 2013I have a broken Galaxy 3 phone where the screen suddenly stopped functioning with a total blackout so I can't use the phone at all. There is no problem getting the phone fixed within a couple of days but the problem is I want to save all my messages, contacts and other data, especially one conversation text message thread that has gone on for about a year, to my pc. I want the information to be able to be viewed independently on my computer like I read emails etc. and then I can store it on a portable hard drive by copy and paste.
Samsung kies doesn't seem to allow for this. I can back up the phone apparently but the info can only be read by another similar phone so it is restricting how you see your own information. I want the information on my computer without the need of another similar phone because what if I decide to buy a totally different phone that has software that's not compatible.
The shop representing Samsung who will fix the phone said that everything gets wiped and they won't even have Kies on their computers because they think its unstable software. Ideally it would be great if there was some kind of software for my computer that enabled it to read all the info on the phone as if the phone was a flash drive connected by USB and then I could simply copy and paste across from phone to computer. The phone is recognised by the computer through the USB but obviously it can't read inside the folders on the phone which just show as empty. How to get the results I want?

Jul 28, 2010for the last 4 or 5 days frequently, when i'm composing a text the screen with flip back to the all messages page and completley lose the text i'm in the middle of. most frustrating and quite unpredictable. had the phone about 2 months, and its been fine up until now. have done the usual off/ on. cant think that i've changed any settings but i've had a few new apps from time to time.

May 19, 2010This forum has saved me from going insane many times now.. but I have searched for an answer to this question but cannot find anything. I had the usual hastle of my facebook contacts getting in the way so I removed the facebook sync in account settings (it was a pain when trying to send a text message to multiple people) but for some reason I can still see my sim card contacts when sending a text message and I cannot find any options in settings to only view phone contacts. When I look at the contacts settings I only have phone contact selected. I dont really want to delete the contacts from the sim as there are some numbers that I want to keep on there incase I ever need them again, so if anyone knows another work around that would be great.

I try turning it off and on but that makes no difference, I have to turn the phone off completely in order for it to come back. However, since moving onto Android I have received a message every few weeks. Usually they are about wiping debts or accident law suits and come from standard mobile numbers, not premium ones. Apr 27, 2010This is my first post here. Got my Desire recently and i am loving the phone. Like other i was having battery issues but following the advice here i was able to extend the battery life considerably, so im hoping someone here may know something about an issue om having.
Im using the Handscent app for text messaging. However over the last week or so when i go to open a new message, the application freezes and shuts down. When i go to open it again all my messages are deleted. They are also missing in the standard messaging app that came with the phone.
Has this happened to anyone else? If it did did you find a way to stop it happening?

May 21, 2010so today my htc desire has decided that it won't send any text messages.phone calls work, signal is fine, but whenever i send a text it just buzzes and says it's unable to send. i last successfully sent a text yesterday (20th may) at 23:39. haven't installed any apps since or anything like that.i am very frustrated. this is basic stuff here that a phone should be able to do. anyway, eventually it gives up and tells me:"Unable to send message after multiple attempts."

Jul 9, 2010I've been using Handcent since I've had my Desire, but since the last few updates it seems to have developed a fault when sending the same sms message to multiple contacts. If I send a message to say 3 people, it either force closes, or comes up with the error message not sent. If it comes up with the latter, the messages are queued & sent 1 after the other. May 18, 2010When ever I send a text message when I've had no signal but the phone hasn't told me yet I get a failed notification which is fine, but I'll keep getting them until I find the text message and delete it, even then I still get a couple more, deleting the message also means I have to type it again, anyone know how to stop the multiple notifications?
I've downloaded No Signal Alert which should help in the future and Handcent seems to cut the notifications down and bit but I still get a few.
