May 14, 2010When I send a group text message on my Desire some of the recipients are getting sent the message via email.Why is this & how can i stop it?

HTC Desire :: Group SMS Messages Goes To Which Telephone Number?
Sep 27, 2010When I send group SMS messages, how can I know which number receives the message. If the contact has more than 1 number (which is generally true) to which number is the SMS sent to? As there's no primary setting for sending messages.

Jul 8, 2010I have come across a compelling problem with my Orange bill since getting my Desire. I set up a group in contacts and a number of times have attempted to send a group text. There are about 8 people in that group but when I pressed send I would get message pending.
Some members of the group would not receive anything whilst others would get a text hours later.
I tried a couple of more times last month then gave up.
This week my bill came with a 10 charge for photo messages, as if I would use this crap way of sending pics when I have access to email. All the group messages were charged at 25p per person.
To give Orange their due, they will reimburse me the money on goodwill but I certainly won't be trying the group thing again.

Oct 25, 2010I have synced my contacts with facebook but when I receive text messages I get their phone number after the persons name and it's annoying and looks crap. Anyone know how to solve this. I know if the contact has multiple numbers it shows but it's showing on contacts with only one number too.

Jul 28, 2010for the last 4 or 5 days frequently, when i'm composing a text the screen with flip back to the all messages page and completley lose the text i'm in the middle of. most frustrating and quite unpredictable. had the phone about 2 months, and its been fine up until now. have done the usual off/ on. cant think that i've changed any settings but i've had a few new apps from time to time.

May 19, 2010This forum has saved me from going insane many times now.. but I have searched for an answer to this question but cannot find anything. I had the usual hastle of my facebook contacts getting in the way so I removed the facebook sync in account settings (it was a pain when trying to send a text message to multiple people) but for some reason I can still see my sim card contacts when sending a text message and I cannot find any options in settings to only view phone contacts. When I look at the contacts settings I only have phone contact selected. I dont really want to delete the contacts from the sim as there are some numbers that I want to keep on there incase I ever need them again, so if anyone knows another work around that would be great.

May 7, 2010I have created a group to send out joke texts etc however when i sent the text to the group i have created some go to their mobile number (What i want) and others go to their e-mail address... I have checked all the settings and cannot find a way to select the mobile number. Also some people that get it sent via text also have an e-mail address saved so it's not defaulting to e-mail for all the contact in the group with an e-mail address...

Apr 13, 2010I received a couple of text messages from Vodafone today, and the Messages app showed the sender as one of my personal contacts! It happened to be the last contact that I edited in the People app, and seems like a bug. Has anyone else seen this? this is on an unlocked Desire bought from mobiles.co.uk.

Sep 3, 2010i'm brand new to this forum (and to android in general)! i just got an HTC Desire through Telus and i absolutely adore it.however i have a very annoying problem.whenever i receive a long text message from a friend (over 130ish characters), the message is broken apart into separate text messages and the messages are not in the order in which they were sent. since i get A LOT of long messages from friends, this is a huge pain in the butt.i don't mind the long message being broken down into smaller messages, my problem is that the small messages arrive in RANDOM order.

May 29, 2010I have linked my facebook account to my desire and I have a couple of issues that I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with:
1. I received a text message from my credit card company, who are not in my contacts list. The phone has listed the sender as a random facebook contact who is not in my 'people' list. How has this happened and how can I fix it?
2. I have used some of my friends facebook profile photos in my people list. However, when they update their profile picture, the photo does not change on my phone. Can I do anything about this?

Jul 26, 2010Every few days I seem to lose my mobile connection completely. I try turning it off and on but that makes no difference, I have to turn the phone off completely in order for it to come back. Quite often after I do this I have a text message appear (usually says it is a few days old) from 'Anonymous'. The messages are blank.
Any ideas what is causing this or how to fix it?

Nov 4, 2010I have had the same mobile number for about 10 years and only ever had one problem with spam text messages, that was 7 years ago. However, since moving onto Android I have received a message every few weeks. Usually they are about wiping debts or accident law suits and come from standard mobile numbers, not premium ones. Is this just a coincidence or have I been lax in some form of personal security with apps or 3G Internet?

Apr 27, 2010This is my first post here. Got my Desire recently and i am loving the phone. Like other i was having battery issues but following the advice here i was able to extend the battery life considerably, so im hoping someone here may know something about an issue om having.
Im using the Handscent app for text messaging. However over the last week or so when i go to open a new message, the application freezes and shuts down. When i go to open it again all my messages are deleted. They are also missing in the standard messaging app that came with the phone.
Has this happened to anyone else? If it did did you find a way to stop it happening?

May 21, 2010so today my htc desire has decided that it won't send any text messages.phone calls work, signal is fine, but whenever i send a text it just buzzes and says it's unable to send. i last successfully sent a text yesterday (20th may) at 23:39. haven't installed any apps since or anything like that.i am very frustrated. this is basic stuff here that a phone should be able to do. anyway, eventually it gives up and tells me:"Unable to send message after multiple attempts."

Jul 9, 2010I've been using Handcent since I've had my Desire, but since the last few updates it seems to have developed a fault when sending the same sms message to multiple contacts. If I send a message to say 3 people, it either force closes, or comes up with the error message not sent. If it comes up with the latter, the messages are queued & sent 1 after the other. I was able to do this no problem before, so has anyone else experienced this in Handcent?

May 18, 2010When ever I send a text message when I've had no signal but the phone hasn't told me yet I get a failed notification which is fine, but I'll keep getting them until I find the text message and delete it, even then I still get a couple more, deleting the message also means I have to type it again, anyone know how to stop the multiple notifications?
I've downloaded No Signal Alert which should help in the future and Handcent seems to cut the notifications down and bit but I still get a few.
HTC Desire : Tracking Format Of Delivery Report For Text Messages
Sep 23, 2010I have a particular problem with the Desire in the format of the delivery report for the messages. It only says 'received', or sometimes 'pending'. I have done some tests, and the pending status does not change when it's actually delivered, and sometimes it will say 'received' when the phone the message is being sent to is switched off.
I used this function (on my trusty old Sony C905) to send messages to phones when they were off, the delivery report would come in with the date and time that the phone was switched on and the message delivered.
Is there an app that I can download to do better management of message tracking? Hopefully the same app that will let me see arabic characters as mentioned in my other query.
HTC Desire : Anonymous Sender When Receive Empty Text Messages
Jul 9, 2010Every once in a while I receive an empty text message that says the sender is anonymous and has no phone number assigned to it. It also shows as being saved to the sim card, which is weird coz the others arent! anyone ever received anything like this too? I didn't get this on my old Sony Ericsson w995 which used the same Sim and plan that i am on now.

Jun 5, 2012Just to start off, I have a Droid 3, flashed to metro. I didn't flash it myself, so I don't have very extensive knowledge, but it is rooted.
1) My biggest problem: I can't receive or send group messages. I tried both handcent and go sms pro. In GO sms Pro, I've checked Send Settings > MMS Group Chat. I can send and receive MMS, but when I send it to multiple people, they all receive individual texts rather than a group text. Long story short I'm trying to message a group of people with iPhones. How can I do this or what exact settings do I need? I've looked at other threads, but to no avail.
2) 3G isn't working. It worked when I initially got it, and when I called the place that flashed my phone, they said that Metro sent out some file that blocks the 3G access.
