I'm new to this site and am about to purchase a HTC Desire on T-Mobile (Contract) from mobilephonesdirect.com.Does any one know -
1 - Is there an 'awful' T-Mobile logo on the case? as i want an unbranded phone
2 - Is the firmware branded like the old T-Mobiles such as icons and apps changed to T-mobile ones? - just want the normal android firmware and no t-mobile logos in the phone.

I've attached camera pics, downloads and upload to the SD card. The problem is that when these contacts call/I call them the quality is sometimes awful. Others look perfect. Any idea why?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm really bugged by the Cherry Mobile Flare logo. It's like this: when our devices (S100, otherwise known as the Karbonn A9+ in India) are still in Android ICS(4.0.4), it's really a breeze to change the boot(splash) logo using the AIO flasher. Anyways, since we updated our devices to JB 4.1.2, I have tried and failed (countless times) in changing the boot logo using AIO (partition table does not exist). The boot logo also appears during off-charging (before the animated battery).So I searched the web and found the link below(which looks promising) and tried but I get the "can't open dev/block/mmcblock0p18" error. It's NOT the boot animation, it's THE boot logo guys.

I have this stange sim logo on my desire, in the notifications panel, when I pull it down it is just blank. I'm using a 256k sim card and I've tried a 128k and a 32k sim card which don't do it.

Issue: Switch on tethering OR mobile hotspot ->mobile network dies
I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the green Android logo when you receive a phone call AND you dont have the callers photo saved. I can think of much nicer things to see than the logo, nothing personal but you know what I mean

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy desire was a UK Orange branded one. I've rooted it and installed custom firmware so I no longer get the Orange start up logo or their uninstallable bloatware apps.
The only thing left is the Orange logo printed on the rear battery cover. Does anyone have anyway to remove the logo without causing too much damage?
It would be nice to have a completely de-branded phone.
If it does that might explain why battery has dramatically improved since i stopped using case 3 weeks ago.Its either that or I finished Angry Birds. Just thought I'd throw the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons.seriously - battery life much improved. Coincidence?

Most of the people are clear, but usually someone is moving which leaves a big blur.Before people say it's camera shake, I know the difference between shake and shutter blur. It seems the shutter is staying open too long to allow enough light in for proper exposure.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Desire and it fits nicely inside a flip case, held closed with a magnet. I am no scientist but a good friend of mine, who is a scientist, seems to think that a magnet could damage the phone!
I have heard that they can mess with the internal compas (i didnt even know i had one until yesterday) but what about the motor in the lens, will this be damaged being an electro magnetic motor?
I am most worried about the screen being effected by a magnetic field always being near (even on) it.
Has anyone had any experience of a HTC Desire being messed up with a magnet or can anyone reassure me that the 3 ebay phone case is phone friendly?
Just got a new case for my Desire off eBay. When I have the Desire all the way inserted in the case and try to call a number, the screen goes BLACK. Yet the call can still be heard going through. I am NOT able to get it back no matter what button I press. Not even with POWER OFF for several seconds! Yet... if I push the phone up half an inch (see pic), the screen goes back every time and the buttons work. Did I mention that the screen is fine when the phone is fully inserted in the case, it only goes black when I make a call using the dialer?
I checked and none of the buttons seem to be depressed when the phone is in the case. Even if they were, it should not cause the screen to lock up like that in black, and the buttons as well.
Does anyone else have absolutely terrible coverage all the time? About 90% of the time I have one or no bars of service. And my 3g connection is always awful. I'm starting to think its just the Eris because I've had other phones with Verizon and have had very good coverage with them.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?
Just a simple question to anyone who ordered the Desire from mobilephonesdirect, Do you get 3 free months worth of insurance with the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my Desire 3 weeks ago. At first everything was okay and the websurfing experience great. But during the last week the browser has been forcing me to view the sites i visit in mobile view, only some of them and unluckily the site i visit the most. I've had the mobile view setting unticked from the beginning. So thats not the problem. I've also tried to clear all the browser data and reset to default settings many times But nothing works. I'm starting to think that a factory reset is the only option, but I wanted to check if someone else has experienced this and/or knows a solution to this problem.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhaving loads trouble trying to connect, on o2 network (but phone was intially vodaphone) when i purchased it got APN settings and all sweet , then htc sent update to my phone and since then no joy , went back to repair centre , recived it back yesterday and it's still the same argghhh.Htc say it's because it has been on vodaphone and this is causing the problem (even though it worked fine before they upgraded software!).

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn a bit of panic here! I rooted my HTC Desire via unprovoked and installed ROM Manager (bought a license) and downloaded Opendesire from within this application. The ROM downloaded I did a backup and the phone is now in a continuous loop with the "android" logo shimmering across the screen.
I cant seem to get into recovery at all and the only way to power the phone off it to remove the battery! Has anyone got any ideas for me, I have been to the toilet 3 times in 30mins so far

Phoned T-Mobile, woman asked technical and came back to say it wasn't supported anymore and I couldn't get it. However, just tried now and its working but only on 3g and not WiFi.Thinking it's because my broadband WiFi is blocking access as it is o2.

Fixed the card details and then was told that the desire is out of stock and they are hoping to get some in on Wednesday 31st March.
