Voice quality is awful. Noone can hear me ever. The sound is completely muffled. Noone is offering any help or solutions. Enough complaints for a fix but we continue to be ignored. Now I am ready to ditch the droid,

I've attached camera pics, downloads and upload to the SD card. The problem is that when these contacts call/I call them the quality is sometimes awful. Others look perfect. Any idea why?

I did the Froyo update and I seriously cannot hear anyone barely. I have to strain so hard to hear. Its choppy and terrible! How can I fix this? Is this fixable?

About the only thing I've found is a horrible app called Dictosyl by a French company caled Sylpheo. What I really want is an Android version of Dictamus for the iPhone/iPod Touch by Jotomi.
Dictamus has all of the features that make it perfect for lawyers, physicians and other executives who need to be able to dictate for someone else to transcribe. Dictamus has the ability easily pause, rewind and insert (destructive and non-destructive insertion). The resulting sound file can be sent via email, uploaded to a Dropbox.com account to an iDisk account, to an ftp server or to any of online transcription services (eg. SpeakWrite) It can send automatic email notifications to someone after an upload has been made. It can record continuously for more than 24 hours.
On a 5 star scale, I'd give Dictamus 6 stars. But it's not available for Android. And what I can find (using search terms "dictate," "dictation" and "recorder") for Android I wouldn't even give one star. Although I use SpeakWrite's transcription service occasionally, their mobile apps (for iPhone, for Android, for Blackberry) are just terrible -- and they make it very difficult to send the recording to anyone but their own service. I prefer to have my secretary transcribe most of my work. Although I like SpeakWrite's service, I only use them when my secretary is not available.
what's everybody's thoughts on the voice quality on the hero? I know on my last phone it was bad, and I haven't really had a chance to test it on the sprint hero, but I was wondering if anybody could offer me their take.
View 13 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed that calls placed using Google Voice don't sound as good as a regular cell call? I hung up from a friend and called right back using Google Voice, and it was more difficult to understand. I was using my bluetooth speakerphone, and their voice kept fading in and out. So I hung up again and called back via the handset, and experienced the same problem. I did this last week and also had this problem, but thought it may just be a temporary glitch. Apparently I also sounded fuzzy to them. Shouldn't be too much different from a normal call should it? It's just basically calling a Google number, and then Google is calling to the actual number you want to call.

Everything sounds fine and loud, except a consistent scratch in the background. Does the programming thing help for that? Or is that just on their end? Granted, actually talking on the phone is the LAST reason I bought it, but for the couple times I actually do use the phone part, it's annoying.

I do have a couple of questions for you Moment owners.
1) Can this phone by used as a business oriented phone (I am coming from the no non-sense blackberry)? I read this is a heck of a phone but I also read it is more a fun phone then a business phone. What is your thoughts as I am not just looking for a toy, but I am also looking for a phone that will be great for business use.
2) I heard that the Android 2.1 will be available for the Samsung Moment around Feb 22nd. My questions is, if an "update" is available for the Moment the 22nd of Feb, then when will the phone come out with the Android 2.1 pre-installed into the phone from brand new? I rather get the phone with the latest Android 2.1 already pre-installed when I purchase it.
3) What is the deal with outlook? I read somewhere that it is not really compatible with this phone as I will be using outlooks calander and would like it to show up on my phone as well.
4) What did get me to go the no non-sense blackberry route is that I used to have the Palm Treo's and with all the gadgets on those phones back in the day, there was sooooooo many software glitches that I just couldnt take it anymore. I am looking for a reliable phone that will not give me issues. Does this phone have any issues of freezing, not working correctly, or any software glitches with all this technology built in? I know the Samsung Moment had a battery issue that was supposedly resolved with the CL14 software upgrade. Any other issues that should be of concern?
5) I read everywhere about the fantastic voice quality of this phone (which is important as a business phone). But, how is the signal strength compared to other Sprint phones? I have not read much on that.
6) Also, I know the Blackberry there is a premium you have to pay above the rate you pay for your Sprint service, just to use the blackberry. What is the monthly charge that is over and above the regular sprint bill to just own the Moment? I need the internet, unlimited text, and the sprint navigation and I am on a family plan.
Does anyone else get poor quality out of their voice recordings? Audio on calls and on recorded video are perfect but voice memos have static.

I am on my fourth DROID and so far every call I have made people have complained that I sound muffled. I know there are a slew of threads on this, especially on Motorola's forums, but no one has an answer. Some people say they do have good voice quality. I am wondering who does and if they can post recordings of their voice quality. The Droid is an excellent device, however it should always first be a phone. It absolutely sux in that department, and I am seriously considering exchanging for an old fashioned flip within my 30 days from verizon. My RAZR and RAZR2 were far superior.

My wife keeps on saying that when she calls me that my voice is very echoy. is this a common issue w/ the Droid, or is there something I need to try to do to possibly fix this issue. Other then this, the phone is great, but because I live off my bluetooth headset this is a big issue for me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this is nothing to do with the Android aspect of the Xperia X10 but was wondering what the rest of you thought of the voice call quality. The Wife and I both have one and when I call my friends on mine they say they can barely understand what I'm saying, when the Wife calls me on hers to my office land line I can barely understand what she is saying and to be honest calling each other on them is equally as bad. I'm going to test out both phones tonight with the wife using our home land line and see what she thinks... She's always had a mobile where I on the other hand wasn't interested in them until recently now they are more like a mobile office than just a phone. I'm never in a "bad" signal strength area when people tell me to speak up and I don't talk quietly anyway, they also tell me that as well as the muffled/distorted voice it's grainy and drops out frequently... Like someone is intermittently muting the mic, for example. I've had a ferret about the net and I'm drawing a blank, a few reviews say the voice call quality is poor/awful but than there are loads of others that say it's great. I love the phone and the rest of it is outstanding! I've stuck the Helix launcher on it, downloaded plenty apps for work (I'm a Software Engineer for Networked DVR's) including TFTP,FTP,SSH clients/servers, synchronized my calender and contacts with Gmail, ported all of my personal and work notes on to it, got a Dropbox set up, got a few gadgets to enable/disable the WiFi/APN/GPS as I need them so it doesn't chew up the battery... I literally almost couldn't be happier! I'm loathed to think that the one thing that doesn't actually work very well on this is in essence it's primary purpose and based on what I've read so far on the net I would say it's just my phone but as we have two doing the same thing it can't be. Does anyone else have a problem with the voice call audio quality or are there any known related hardware issues ?

The voice of the person on the other end is horrible, i previously had a black berry pearl, I checked the website for factors which cause bad call quality. Even though my signal strength is good, charge is full , the call volume is less, the other person is not in an elevator , not using any blue tooth or microphone or not using the speaker mode, the call quality si still bad.Has anybody faced this?. View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Voice Recorder and it seems to work fine, expect for one thing, the voice quality when played back sucks! My old Samsung Sync was so much easier to understand, when playing back voice recorded messages. The Epic has a lot of hiss and scratchiness to it. I hope that's not what other people are hearing on the other end of our conversations. Anyone else have similar results using Voice Recorder, or comments from people their talking to? Could the lousy quality be because of the app, or the Epic's mic?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have really enjoyed everything about the Droid in the 5 days I've had it, except call quality. I switched from an iPhone 3G and the droid can do everything my iPhone could and more, and then I placed a phone call.
My phone was updated to 2.0.1 right at the Verizon store. I left, made a call, and am now regretting leaving my iPhone. I get horrible choppiness, static, and muffled voice on my end. On the other end everyone I call can hear me great. I have tried the *228 options 1 and 2, changing to evrc-b(or whatever it was called) and 13k, privacy off, basically every setting i could find.
Went to the Verizon store, the saleswoman said it was normal and that all phones do that. I laughed, said I was gonna quit this "awesome network" and go back to "crap" AT&T, then they exchanged the phone no problem. Of course this fixed nothing and here I am making phone calls and repeating, "what did you say?" until I can make out some words.
Don't get me wrong, I like Verizon and I've had them before and I never had any issues with call quality, which brings me to believe it's strictly the phone. I may have gotten the occasional dropped call on the iPhone(once a week at most) but at least my calls were all clear.
I was wondering what was with all these really awful bad spam apps. Theres like a million apps based on Korean chicks and all they consist of is a few pics etc. Shouldn't poor material like this be kept off the market?

Is anyone else having issues with shutter speed? I can't take pictures that are perfectly clear. Most of the people are clear, but usually someone is moving which leaves a big blur.Before people say it's camera shake, I know the difference between shake and shutter blur. It seems the shutter is staying open too long to allow enough light in for proper exposure.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
Does anyone else have absolutely terrible coverage all the time? About 90% of the time I have one or no bars of service. And my 3g connection is always awful. I'm starting to think its just the Eris because I've had other phones with Verizon and have had very good coverage with them.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI'm sure its been discussed and all but I think that the voice recognition software is capable of being much more advanced.There should be a way to just give your phone a voice command without having to manually open an app. It probably would have to be running in the background the whole time, analyzing everything it hears, so it may use a lot of battery and cpu.therefore it may be easier to have a starter phrase to tell it to listen more carefully. for example: say the said app is running in the background,listening to every noise, but it wouldn't begin to really analyize until you say something like; "hey, phone!" or "yo, droid!" (or whatever tag phrase). I don't know what would have to go into an app like that for it to work but hey, if an app like that was designed, then I think the android would be a really smart smartphone. In the end thanks for all the awesome apps you guys are already developing. be sure to tell me when someone develops something like that though.
