View 21 RepliesAndroid Version: 2.2 T-Mobile branded
Network: Base - a brand of e-plus, Germany
Taskiller Used: None
Issue: Switch on tethering OR mobile hotspot ->mobile network dies
I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.
I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?
Just a simple question to anyone who ordered the Desire from mobilephonesdirect, Do you get 3 free months worth of insurance with the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my Desire 3 weeks ago. At first everything was okay and the websurfing experience great. But during the last week the browser has been forcing me to view the sites i visit in mobile view, only some of them and unluckily the site i visit the most. I've had the mobile view setting unticked from the beginning. So thats not the problem. I've also tried to clear all the browser data and reset to default settings many times But nothing works. I'm starting to think that a factory reset is the only option, but I wanted to check if someone else has experienced this and/or knows a solution to this problem.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhaving loads trouble trying to connect, on o2 network (but phone was intially vodaphone) when i purchased it got APN settings and all sweet , then htc sent update to my phone and since then no joy , went back to repair centre , recived it back yesterday and it's still the same argghhh.Htc say it's because it has been on vodaphone and this is causing the problem (even though it worked fine before they upgraded software!).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Virgin Mobile branded HTC Desire with a Virgin Mobile SIM card. The handset was purchased outright. The contract is a rolling 30-day contract so I can cancel at any time.I'd like to move to O2 purely for the coverage. How do I go about debranding the handset and (I presume) unlocking it so that I can use an O2 SIM card in it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else tried this? Thought I'd add sky sports bundle. First try just said payment pending. Phoned T-Mobile, woman asked technical and came back to say it wasn't supported anymore and I couldn't get it. However, just tried now and its working but only on 3g and not WiFi.Thinking it's because my broadband WiFi is blocking access as it is o2.

View 40 Replies View RelatedI ordered a desire yesterday (mid day) via t-mobile website. I then realised i had incorretly given card details and rang them up to correct it. Fixed the card details and then was told that the desire is out of stock and they are hoping to get some in on Wednesday 31st March.
View 49 Replies View RelatedAs part of my battery saving techniques i often use a widget which turns off the APN. This has direct effect on disabling 3g as it no longer flashes in the task bar, but can someone explain the difference between turning off the APN or turning off the whole 'mobile network' (holding the power button and selecting mobile network off)Also, do both ways save the same battery?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android, so new that I don't have it yet. Telus wants to give me a phone and when I tried the Desire in the store I fell in love with it. My current phone is an HTC Touch Pro 2 running Windows Mobile 6.1. I have disabled TouchFlo 3D and installed SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.5 which I have customized to my liking. The Desire interface was so similar and easy to use I want to move over "to the dark side" Here is my issue: I am a very heavy Outlook 2010 user. I run my business on MS Business Contact Manager 2010 in Outlook and all of my appointments and contacts (447 of them) are very important to me. Each contact has multiple addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses. I have been reading about the Desire for 2 days and I can live with a weak battery since I would have a car charger for the road and keep it plugged in when at my desk, similar to what I do with my TP2. What I can't live without is seamless syncing of all contact and calendar information. Tasks are important, but could be lived without. Some of the threads I have read say they can sync everything, others say they can sync nothing. I need another Outlook user to let me know if the Desire can sync all contact and calendar data seamlessly. If so, what is used to do it? I have read that the Froyo release with HTC Sync will work, but nothing about the details I mentioned above.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOne of the reasons I invested in a HTC Desire was the ability to use it as a modem and hook it up my laptop. This has worked well so far and I'm surprised by the speed.
Reading the terms & conditions and the usual small print, it states that T-Mobile don't allow you to use your phone as a mobile and advise people to go for their Web n Walk option (5).
I do have unlimited internet (FUP 3gb) and I don't intend to fileshare or stream large contents when tethering and I should stay below 3gb a month.
Is there anyway of T-Mobile knowing if I'm surfing the web directly from my phone or using my phone as a modem in order to surf on my laptop?
I've decided to get a HTC Desire but need some advice on service providers. Here are my options: T-Mobile: free phone, 18 months, 300 mins, 300 texts & unlimited net (1GB) - 25/month.
Orange: free phone, 18 months, 300 mins, 3000 texts, 500Mb net, unlimited email, unlimited calls to magic number & orange wednesdays - 25/month.
The text and calls are more than enough in both so the deal breaker is internet access & service quality. I am leaning towards Orange as I believe they have better UK coverage, 500 Mb net is probably enough (news, email & general browsing, occasional youtube) and email is free.
What do you guys think? Anyone have experience of these two networks in the UK? Does it make more sense to go with the bigger net allowance?
My desire is fantastic, was delivered when they said it would be and all the staff I've dealt with have been fab. The only gutting thing was that my desire had a stuck red pixel in the middle of the screen that was visible on any white background like a web page or the dialer. It is small but it is annoying so I decided to phone up T-Mobile. Amazingly they have arranged for a swap to happen tomorrow. Can't fault them at all.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI' ve been using a lot my Desire these days and absolutely love it.I surf the Internet a lot and just wanted to make sure if I get it all right:
1. If I only use the Mobile Network Internet on my phone that means I am using the Internet my provider (Orange in this case) gives me per month. I have 1GB limited Interned each month and therefore surfing the web through the Mobile Network option means I am draining from that 1GB limit.
2. If I only use the Wi-Fi Internet (when Mobile Network is OFF) on the phone that means I connect to (in this case) my home Internet router and use it to access Internet and therefore do not drain any of the 1GB limit I have per month.
Is that right? I use Internet a lot and don't want to end up paying huge bills to Orange. And last question- what happens if both options (Mobile Network and Wi-Fi) are turned ON? What Internet will I be using- Orange's or the one from my home Internet router?
A problem with the tmobile content lock. i have had the content lock taken off, and it seemed to be fine, however i turned my phone off and it came back....this happens until i connect my phone to wifi and then if i connect with 3g its fine until i turn my phone off then it will be back on, this is recurring. Anyone had the same problem, and any suggestions?

View 7 Replies View RelatedBasically I was at work today, the reception was okay and I wanted to go on the net. When I tried to turn mobile network on (I normally keep it off to save battery), it just said "connecting" in the dark silver colour and that was it. It didn't turn on at all, until I turned the phone off completely and then the mobile network was on when the phone was re-started. It happened to me twice that day.

I have just received my unlock code from T-Mobile. Only problem is their procedure asks me to fit a non T-Mobile simcard as part of the procedure.
Is this the only way I can do it? Must I have a different sim-card to start the unlocking? I don`t have one so bit of a problem.
I get an error 504 when attempting to browse the internet on t-Mobile. I can use WiFi no trouble and I know that the apps can access the internet as I installed one from the Android Market no trouble. I have a H indicating HSDPA on the phone and have restarted the phone. Is anyone getting the same trouble on their Desire HD on T-Mobile, or any network come to that matter.

View 11 Replies View RelatedT-Mobile have finally released their HTC Sense update for the desire this morning. I've been waiting months for this. Everything seemed to go fine on the update, it auto backed up everything to the sd card and on updating all apps were displayed on the home screens as before. I have a problem now though - my internet browser keeps crashing when loading pages. It displays most of the page and reaches about 95% but then closes back to the home screen. I haven't done much to the phone other than installing apps and it generally worked before the update. Using webkit 3.1 browser and tried pages such as failblog, gizmodo and android forums. Any others with this problem?
