This is one of the few major complaints I have with our phone. When I want to send my vCard (or any contact card) I can only choose from Bluetooth, MMS (costs money) or the "HTC" Mail apps. Since I use a Gmail account I don't have any other mail clients configured. Am I doing something wrong? Have I missed some setting that will allow me to send a contact card via Gmail?

I'm a n00b so I wanted to ask some questions about this and how much it can help the battery, and also if it's worth actually leaving as it is. If you can shed any light on the queries below I'd greatly appreciate it
1. When I set up my phone I added people as Google contacts rather than Sim contacts but wasn't really sure of the difference and what it would mean. Is it just a case of the phone finding those people on your Gmail account if you select to add as a Google contact or is there more to it?
2. How frequent are syncs with Google contacts and calendars and what exactly is synced between my phone and my Google account? Is it actually battery intensive or does it make very little difference?
3. I set up a Google Calendar a long time ago and subscribed to my girlfriend's calendar, but have deleted mine and unsubscribed to hers today as I just don't use it. Does this mean nothing is then synced with the phone as nothing exists?
I'm trying to get my head around exactly how my Google account links with my phone and how it affects the phone.
So my desire has a 'My Contact Card', and my contacts (gmail contacts synced to phone) also has my gmail contact with all my info. Is it possible to merge these? I cant find a way. Seems silly for the gmail personal contact to be on the phone and for the phone to hold a seperate one (used when i send texts etc?).

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I go into People -> My Contact Card, my birthday is showing with the little facebook "F" there. I don't want my birthday showing (in fact I don't want anything from facebook integrating with any part of my phone).
Under Settings -> Accounts and Sync, I have facebook set to not sync.
When on My Contact Card, I click Menu -> Edit, and beside Birthday it says "Click to add". When I click the cross beside that, that entry disappears, but when I click Save, the Birthday is still present.
I am new to android OS, when i synced my contacts with google, i started adding the facebook profile to each contact. The problem is by mistake i added the wrong profile to the wrong person. How can i change it or remove this facebook profile from this contact card.

1. He is on my Facebook contact. (His facebook pic appears in my Desire contact list)
2. He is my Gmail contact as well.
3. He is added as a 'Phone Contact' as well.
I sent him a text few days ago but don't remember if it was using facebook or my phone (network provider sms) but now when I go in to 'Messages' and send him a message, I just can't figure out if I am sending him a message via Facebook or to his mobile number.
Just realized something that kind of upsets me. My buddy asked me for another friends phone number the other day so I of course went into contacts expecting to be able to text it to him like my dumb razr could. Much to my surprise I couldn't find the option, pretty disappointing considering he has an iPhone and made a HUGE deal out of it...
Ive tried Contact Sender which works, but I would like something that integrates into the "share" options in the contacts, or even the attachment menu in a text.
I started a thread that wound up in the Droid X Troubleshooting forum, but I think this is an Android problem, not a Droid X problem... I'm having read receipt issues with the stock Gmail app (it won't let me send them and it auto-sends them to people who request them of me, without giving me the option of sending or declining). In addition, I'm pretty disappointed with the Gmail app, especially when compared to the Blackberry's handling of Gmail. Blackberry's only gmail issue is when you send an email to someone through gmail you get a copy regardless of whether you want one or not.
I'm really concerned about this and would love to find an alternative -- K9 doesn't appear to be compatible with GMail so even if I wanted to I couldn't use that. Anyone have any suggestions? The web interface, incidentally, doesn't feature read receipts -- already considered logging in to send important emails that way. I'm guessing if there's no alternative then the only alternative is to return to my Blackberry for the time being :-/
When I do to my phonebook and look at a contact it gives me the option to send a message to the default number and every other number associated with that contact. So if they have a work, home and mobile it also gives me the ability to send messages to all 3 of those numbers, why? If I send a text I only want it going to their mobile....is everyones contacts set up like this?

I have experienced it on the stock rom, and now Liquid's rom 1.4.1.I always do a complete wipe, and everything else works great, but if I reply to any email, the synchronizing between gmail on the phone and gmail on the computer never works.If I star something, read it, or send a reply, nothing ever gets accomplished, the sending just stalls at "sending" for ever. Anyone have a solution?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an LG Optimus V, rooted, 2.2 (not sure what it's rooted to, it arrived that way). It has worked fine (except auto-rotate quit awhile back, I gave up trying to fix it) but for the last 2 days or so, GMail absolutely WILL NOT send. Every single email I try to send, it always gets hung on "Sending..." and it won't move a muscle.
It has nothing to do with the quality of the connection, I'm at home operating over a Wi-Fi.
Moreover, the "Sending..." never goes away unless I "wipe" the phone. Even turning it off & on won't do it, and I have no way of deleting it without deleting the entire conversation. I look up and every email I've sent, EVERY ONE has "Sending...." on the screen, and short of doing a "wipe" it absolutely won't go away.
i updated my phone today and the first txt message i sent went to the wrong contact. i checked the number and it was right. this had never happened before the update.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem sending pictures with the gmail widget on my eris. I take the picture and attach it to an email composed with the gmail widget. However, when the recipient (and my own gmail account to test) receives the email, the pictures are not viewable. They just appear as a red "x". I can send the same email from the phone to my hotmail account and the pictures show up fine. I have tried different resolution sizes, but with the same result. I have accessed gmail through the phone's browser to try to send the attachments that way, but cannot see that there is an option to include attachments. It is pretty frustrating to use a gmail widget to have the pictures not appear when sent to my own gmail account. Then to check my hotmail account and see that the pictures appear fine.

Though I delete incoming mails, the next notification which I receive when I get the next mail will show "17 mails" though I would have deleted the previous 16 emails. When I check email on my browser, all the emails what I had deleted are still there. I have tried a factory reset and I still have a problem.

Then i noticed today that i cant send email from the phone. I have 2 emails that have been "sending" for the past hour. Ive tried both over 3g and wifi, neither worked. Sometimes it takes a full day for her to get them. Email has been delayed the past couple days, too. Items will sit in the outbox for hours and when I pull them up, there's red text saying it's sending..." This happens whether I'm connected to WiFi or just using the mobile radio. 2 bars or 5 bars, it doesn't seem to matter.

I really like this phone but it seems to be really limited when it comes to MMS or sending video's whether its email or MMS. My sister has verizon (and I do to) when she sends me text or MMS and adds a smiley face it modifies the msg and she gets a msg back saying my phone dont support enhanced msg. wtf? My razr really did better when it came to mms. There has to be something not adjusted right on this phone.
