When I do to my phonebook and look at a contact it gives me the option to send a message to the default number and every other number associated with that contact. So if they have a work, home and mobile it also gives me the ability to send messages to all 3 of those numbers, why? If I send a text I only want it going to their mobile....is everyones contacts set up like this?

Just got my Incredible and it is rocking. Damn this thing is fast! I notice that when I try to compose an sms message, the contact search list contains ALL of my contacts (phone + Google). This is super annoying, as I literally have thousands of Google contacts and some people have numerous accounts, so it's incredibly difficult to sort through and is honestly the first thing I have seen the phone start to choke on. The 'People' widget has a 'View' setting that allows me to limit by just phone contacts, but I can't seem to find any sort of filter in the search when I'm composing a message. I can type each name individually and select, but having a big list would be nice. Again, I'd like to be able to select message recipients from a list containing only phone contacts.

I successfully updated to the official Vodafone release using SEUS, loving the update so far but I've come across a problem with text messages.
Every couple of text messages they won't send and instead I get the message cannot be sent error. Trying repeated times has the same results then all of a sudden it will randomly work.
It can't be down to bad signal, last time the error came up I had full 'H' signal.
I also tried Handcent to see if using an app would make any difference but it didnt.
Is there a way to block text messages from specific numbers? I don't want to receive the message at all.

I've read about text message issues on the Hero, but so far not anything about the Eris yet. What class can we use to send a text message? I tried this on the emulator, 2.0:

And that works ok. On my G1 running 1.5, I get a verify error, guessing because SmsManager is not available in 1.5. Maybe for 1.5 we need to use the deprecated class?:
android.telephony.gsm.SmsManager
Is that correct, or is there some other class we're supposed to use for sending text messages?
This is an odd problem I have. When I reboot my phone, it sends only a select few people previous text messages I've sent them. The only program I can see that could be causing it is SMS Pop Up, but I don't know if that is a culprit or has been known to do that. My girlfriend who was sitting next to me started getting text messages. She received about 13 instantly from me that she previously received from me.Can anyone decipher this dilemma?

I miss my blackberry in this respect, it would wait until it DID have signal and then would automatically resend. Is there any way to set this phone up so it automatically resends when I get signal back? I do get it sometimes where it says that its saving the texts until signal is rereached, however, lets say I get one bar back, well the phone "sees" that Im getting signal, tries to send, and then fails, and then calls it a day....

If I send a message to say 3 people, it either force closes, or comes up with the error message not sent. If it comes up with the latter, the messages are queued & sent 1 after the other. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been having a problem recently with my phone sending text messages to random nonsensical numbers. i.e. I get a message failure because the phone tried to text "0110000100000" which is obviously not a phone number. I had installed handcent almost immeadiatly upon getting the phone. So I tried uninstalling it and putting on chomp. Still have the same problem. It seems to help if I use my task killer after using the sms app.
I am running the original firmware that came on the phone from Rogers, as everytime I use pc companion, it tells me i am up to date, and the update service locks up my computer (and my laptop and my wife's netbook).
I would rather not do a factory reset, but I am getting pretty close.

I entered the number, and it changed the number at the top to a persons name, who isn't in my contacts, and does not have the same number. They are my friend on facebook however. View 1 Replies View RelatedI get a poor signal at home (did on my Nokia), so half the time when I send a text, there won't be a signal to send it. I always then go and put my phone in a place where there is a signal and leave it..
With my Nokias, the phone would send it fairly quickly (usually within 10-15 minutes).
The message is still sat in Handcent with the whirling round icon next to it. If I copy the message, and resend it, whilst there's a signal, away it goes. I can't find any way to force the send when I want, and I left the resend in a signal area for 1hr 15 mins and it still hadn't sent..
I did a search on this and didn't come up with any hits for the inc.If I want to send a long message (over 160 characters) I use to be able to send as mms on my bb and it would not break the message up into seperate messages like it did on regular sms.How do I do this on the Inc? I looked for a mms option when texting and didn't find one. I am using Handcent and shapewriter for a keyboard, but also looked on the stock messaging app and didn't see one there either.
