HTC Desire :: When I Open Manage Applications It Takes Ages To Load
Jun 3, 2010When i go to manage applications, to uninstall for example, the list takes AGES to load like 15 seconds its like the phone has crashed because it just hangs then it finally all appears. Sometimes it is instant, other times it takes ages is this normal?

Feb 7, 2010I was under the impression that the "back button" closes applications.
Apparently this is not true. I always use the "bb" however, I've checked and found that many apps were still open.
For instance: I open messages. Don't actually create one. Press "bb". Check apps and find that it is still running. So what is happening is that after a while there are a bunch of apps still running in the background.
Is there a way to force close? What is the proper way to close an application then?

Sep 24, 2009I'm new to android, and i just got my htc hero, how do you close applications. I mean, i open an app and when i'm finished with the app then click the "back" button or the "home button" to open another app, but seems when i long-press the "home" button, previous apps are still open... the only thing that sort of close all the apps when i turn off & on the phone. how do you close apps?

Oct 28, 2010Basically I bought something off eBay and received a generic email to my hotmail account to say I'd won the auction. When I try to open in it does nothing, when I try and delete it it force closes the email program (I use the stock email program)I went to my email account on my PC and the email isn't even on the server!
Also my other account (also hotmail) has wiped out my entire inbox! luckily it's my old email account and I don't think I had anything important in it.I set my settings as follows a month or so ago.and havn't had any issues untill now.

Aug 9, 2010I'm new to all this wifi stuff. I have no problems connecting my Desire to my wifi at home, which is great. But at work (or at least in the vicinity of my office) there is an open wifi point. I have now tried on several occasions to connect to it, but it always fails. It gets as far as trying to get the IP address then nothing happens until the connection fails. Then it starts trying to connect again, but it gets stuck every time on getting the IP address.This would not concern me if it weren't for the fact that other work colleagues (one of whom also has a Desire) have managed to connect without a problem. I've moved over to where those people work, in case it was a pure location thing, but still no success.Is there something obvious that I've missed on this? Or anything that I could try? Obviously I'd like not to have to use my data allowance while at work if at all possible.

Jul 15, 2010I recieved my HTC Desire 3 days ago, and I really like it, but I have 1 problem. Where I work we got a open wireless network with password protection when you open your web browser. I got no problems connecting to the network, but I dont get the pop-up box where I have to write in the password. Tried with the built in browser and opera mini, but neither of em work. May 4, 2010How do I jump between running/open apps? Yesterday I was playing spades and chatting with a friend on google talk. It was terrible. I could not jump between the game and the chat. I had to hit home button, then menu then Google talk, to go back to spades I could hold the down home button and jump back to spades from the popup window. I could not do this with google talk from spades because google talk was not in the recently opened apps popup window.

Jun 5, 2010My HTC is really slow! When I receive a new message it takes about 30seconds to even open it, then a further 30 or so to wait for the keyboard to respond. I have tried deleting the messages from my inbox and starting fresh, but am slightly cautious about just giving it a factory reset!
Also, when i am finished a phone call, as I take the phone away from my ear, it flashes on and off, meaning that I can't actually put the phone down! The only way to do it is to take the battery out of the back and start again!
Overall, I'm not very impressed with the phone, its supposed to be suitable for a businessman, but I can't even get it to work as a personal user!
We have 4 other people in the house with the same phone and none of them are experiencing these problems.
