HTC Hero :: Want Upgrading SD Card
Mar 22, 2010With 2.1 update fairly imminent, I thought I'd take the opportunity to upgrade my SD card to a 4gb or even 8gb. I have had my Hero since November and love it, but I noticed recently I have just about filled my 2gb card with data.So ... what is the process involved? Is it simply a case of connecting to my PC, creating a folder and dragging the lot >>> swapping the card in the phone >> then dragging it all back onto the new card?

Mar 6, 2010I don't think this has been asked before in this forum, but if it has, I apologize for repeating... Just like many of you probably are, I am in need of more storage. 14 GB is evaporating fast, and I'm not sure the SD card is upgradable yet. I don't fully understand exactly what an SD card does besides provide storage (ie: does it function as a hard drive, etc). Basically, how are those who are upgrading their SD cards doing so without having to reload all your apps, re-buying apps you paid for, and having to otherwise completely set up your Droid all over again from scratch?

Nov 26, 2010This issue has been sorta "asked and answered" but the information I have found information has been on phones OTHER than the EVO. I just wanted to CONFIRM everything for the EVO (which I just rooted last night and NEW to the root modifications and options) before I got into any trouble! I have the stock 8GB card and want to update to a larger card. I rooted my phone last night and the only "rooty" things I have done has been: (1) full clockworkmod backup to the SD card; (2) Titanium backup; and (3) moving some apps to the SD via Move2SD Enabler.
From what I've read I can just copy the contents of my original card to the new card and put the card in the phone. I was wondering if this IS the case with the EVO? Since I am rooted with various backups saved to the SD card, are their any concerns with those files going forward? And do I have any concerns with the apps that I have moved to the SD card...will they continue to function with copy-paste to the new card inserted into teh phone?? And lastly...also probably asked and answered a thousand times but I didn't check ...can anyone recommend a class/speed/brand of SD card, most likely a 16GB card but perhaps a 32GB?? Android :: Copy / Upgrading SD Card Directories
Jul 21, 2010If I upgrade my SD card from say 8 to 16 gigs... can I merely copy over the directories from my old card to my new one so that my apps still work the same? Are there any hidden files or directories I need to worry about?

I'm currently running Aloysious 2.0.9 Maps, looking to run new Custom ROM after my Sprint Store Visit. My vibrate mode stop working recently, so I'm gonna take back to Sprint cuz its still under warranty. I know I have to Unroot first before i take back, so i will. Do i Unroot to the 2.27 OR the 2.31 stock ROM? Will i be able to ROOT back to a new Custom ROM like LiquidSense 2.1, CM6, or aospMod v0.9.7. How/What files do i need to transfer over from my old card to new card after or before i flash new Custom ROM.

Jun 11, 2010I am brand new to Android and have a question about upgrading from the stock 2GB card to an 8GB class 6. I am rooted on 2.1 and want to flash my first custom ROM. What I want to know is when I get my new card will I have to re-root all over again or will I be able to just copy the data from my stock card to my pc then copy it back over to my new card? The root process was simple enough, however I would like to not have to go through the process over again if I don't have to.

Jun 14, 2010I bought a 16gb Class 6 card to replace the 8gb card that came with the EVO. I put some music/photos from my PC onto the new card and stuck it in the EVO. Everything seemed to go ok, but when I went to use the camera, it showed a black screen with what i think was a pic of an SD card for about a second then just closed the camera app and went to the home screen. Was I supposed to copy anything from the old card to the new one or do anything else before I switched? I just put the stock 8gb card back in the EVO for now until I figure out what I'm supposed to do.

Oct 14, 2010Was thinking about upgrading my stock 2gb card to a 16 or 32 soon. So I have a few questions.
1)Since my Dinc is rooted, will I have to copy anything to the new card after formatting it, or should my phone remain unaffected?
2) I know there is class 2, 4, and 6, with each having faster read/write speeds and being quite a bit more. Will those speeds really make much difference when being used in my phone for backups, random files, apps, and music or videos?
3) Can I copy my sd card files to my phone's internal memory and transfer them that way? Or do I need to transfer them through my computer?
Motorola Droid 2 :: Upgrading / Copy Songs With SD Card
Nov 11, 2010I picked up my Droid 2 this past Saturday, and immediately ordered a 16GB Transcend Class 6 micro SD card for it. To install it, I plugged my Droid into my PC (Linux machine), un-hid all the hidden files, copied them to my desktop, then disconnected the Droid, took the stock card out, plugged the new card in, and copied the files back. After a reboot of the Droid, everything seemed OK.The problems started while copying songs onto the Droid. The copy process froze, and ever since, the phone had problems with this card. It's sluggish, and hangs on shut-down.Is there a proper way to upgrade to a new card that I don't know about? The guys at the Verizon store didn't have any ideas.

I can purchase a new phone an iphone 4 or HTC desire but i like my HTC wildfire and i enjoy the android operating system, the Wildfire's camera is amazing and the only thing i want to be able to do is make it faster. Jul 24, 2010I have an application which resides on the phone memory but downloads large data to the SD card on first launch (the app needs to be able to work without an internet connection most of the time) When using the recommend directory given in Froyo it seems all files on the SD card are deleted when I install a newer version of the .apk. I'd preferably like the files removed on uninstall, but not on upgrade since the files on the SD card aren't going to change between application versions, and forcing the user to re-download a large file that is independent of the application version does not seem reasonable. At the moment it seems I'm forced to use a different directory to the recommended one in order to stop Froyo deleting all the files when the application is upgraded. Am I doing something wrong, or is this how it is supposed to work (I'm guessing it is)?

Once the phone was done flashing DeFrost, with ROM manager, I restarted it. However, the phone will not boot. When powered on, all I can see if the green HTC logo against a white background.
What do i do now?
Update:
I managed to got past the HTC Logo screen where it would show a Red/Green/Yellow/Blue X and then boot into Android 2.2. I did this by clearing the storage data in the bootloader and restarting.
I would have no phone reception and is unable to get wifi connection. and would get an error message saying Process system is not responding at start up. Further, the phone keeps restarting by itself.
Also, SD card not detected and i would get horizontal line noise on the screen.

HTC Desire : Upgrading Market Apps After Root
Nov 23, 2010Recently rooted, and Market says there is updates, but it can't update them. The apps were included as part of leedroid 2.2f. I've read that I can use Titanium to uninstall the app (e.g. maps) then install again from the market. Is this correct, don't want to upset anything.

Oct 8, 2010I just got an HTC Desire that was locked to Telus (Canadian Carrier). I have read that numerous people are using it on Rogers network. From the day I got it when I put my rogers sim card in (the right way) it said "No SIM card in phone" so I could not enter an unlock code. Thinking the SIM was defective went to Telus and tried one of their sim cards and it worked fine, then I went to Rogers thinking it was a problematic card. We tried 4 cards and none of them worked. I then went to Bell (another canadian carrier) and tried their sim card. It worked as well but said that the phone was locked. I purchased an unlock code from the internet which worked. Now the Bell sim card works as well becuase the phone is unlocked. I put my Rogers SIM back into it and it still sais "No SIM card in phone". I also tried a SIM from a european company and it did not work as well. This HTC Desire works on the same 3G 850/1900 GSM that Rogers uses.

Sep 13, 2010For some reason on my HTC desire, I cannot access my SD card. It says 'Blank SD card' in the notifications section. For this to happen on a phone is completely unacceptable. Before my SD card was rendered unusable, I used to get problems like whenever I try to take a photo, it would not allow me to because of an SD card issue. Restarting would solve that. That is also unacceptable. Where do I go from here? Have i lost all my data? What is to sat that this wont happen again?

HTC Desire :: SD Card After Rooting And Going To 2.2
Jul 25, 2010I have just used the instructions on this forum to first root my phone, and then install New 2.2 on to my desire. What a improvement in performance and Shockwave flash works. But I can't install on to my SD Card at all. If I download a app from the market (or my pc) which is set to install on extrenal storage (SD Card), it downloads and the installation fails. I also can't use APP 2 SD as when I try and copy to memory it fails. so if I then unmount my SD Card, and install the same app, it installs and works fine. So do I need to do something to my SD Card?

Apr 7, 2010I have my SD card full of music, well not full, around 3gbs worth synced with Silling media sync (itunes playlist syncer) i plug it into my car stereo via USB the stereo is the Alpine X305 which plays mp3 etc from USB drive. The phone works at first, plays the music etc all day long, but when i come to get out of the car and disconnect the USB from the phone, the desire comes up with: Preparing SD card then SD card damaged, you will need to format the SD card.
