I tried in multiple laptops of windows 7, my htc desire 2.1 USB sometimes doesn't detect at all.Its totally weird, out of 10 times try, its work for one time. Sometimes its auto disconnect,in mid of file transfer.Even i tried to installed android USB drivers, but no use. Any solution for this.

My HTC desire phone,, after upgrading new 2.1 to 2.2 software, it suddenly stops detecting SD card slot and error in WiFi as well. Can anybody please tell me what is the problem?
Mount SD card & Format SD card is not highlighted, I can see but can not tap on it. Same SD card is detecting and working perfectly with my laptop.
In windows7 new htc desire usb behaving weird, can't see disk drive. Even htc sync can't connect. sometime out of 100 times its detects 1 or 2 times. Any setting to be done?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter much waiting for my desire HD I was (and am) really pleased with it. However in the last couple of days my screen appears to be detecting a second touch which pretty much prevents me playing games and is a real hindrance when typing. I could accept this if it were the gel protector or my hand running over the side of the screen, but it seems to be around the "rtuio" bit of the keyboard when holding the phone in portrait mode (i.e. the centre). I do have a screen protector on there but there are no air bubbles or anything visible underneath it. So yeah, has this been raised before? I couldn't find anything. Do I need to recalibrate the screen somehow?

My desire is not detecting my computer when I connect the USB, I connect it and it begins charging instead of asking me about the connection type. As I was puzzled and thought this was very strange, I checked the "connect to PC" settings only to find out the "ask me" option was indeed enabled . When I connect the USB to the computer it begins charging and displays "USB" on battery status, but it does not actually detect the computer, nor does the computer detect the phone (even when I change the default connection type to "disk drive" it continues on charge mode). Has anyone any clue as to what is wrong with my desire? I am very confused because as I said, I select the "ask me" option but it does not "ask me", I really want to fix this as it means I cannot sync music onto it, any ideas?

Soo, is it caused by the drop, or is it a sofware issue?
Been like it for 2 weeks now, when i turn my desire on its side to horizontal the screen does not change it use to then one day didnt. its not the new firmware i know this because it was doing this before i updated. anyone els experiencing this and do you have a fix? im hoping the new 2.2 might fix it but can not see it happening tbh.

It started a few days ago but I can't be specific when.Pc to phone of calendar is fine, contacts sync fine both ways.I debranded from Vodafone and went to Froyo 10 days ago.Could this be the cause?Just installed the latest sync 2.0.33 from HTC - no change.It's a pain because I started using the phone to make work appointments, fortunately spotting the problems before any real damage was done with clients.Has anyone else come across this and if so found a fix?
View 11 Replies View RelatedDisclaimer: I've started a new thread as I felt this was distinct enough from 2.2 feedback and different from a similar thread.I upgraded to 2.2 today, did it over my mobile H connection and it all worked fine, no problems to report.Got home and turned the wi-fi on and while it will see all the surround access points, included mine, it won't actually connect to mine. When I go right into the settings and look at what's happening it appears to be unable to get past 'Obtaining Address.Nothing has changed on my wireless setup from this morning when 2.1 connected fine.I've rebooted both the router and the phone and it still doesn't connect. All i've not done yet is a factory reset on the phone, but to be honest i'm loathe to do that unless it's completely necessary.Strangely the wi-fi hotspot feature on the phone is working fine.Can someone please help, this is a major issue for me.
View 15 Replies View Relatedi have is the desire on wifi does not work properly, i get good signal (router in same room, d-link 615 with 50Mb connection) some sites work bbc.co.uk works like normal but when i brows other sites, facebook, talk.maemo, quidco, ebay.. u get the idea it does not load or takes ages , we are talking mintues 1-3 mins. this applies to apps too, some times it updates and some times it does not. now for the funny thing. when i'm one floor below the router location everything works. Now i have changed channels and security settings with no joy, all other device on the same router work fine, nokia n80, n900, ps3, netbook and main PC wired.
its bugging me, dunno if i should take the handset for replacement. On 3G it works fine, actually works GREAT! on voda (got the phone simfree from CPW) Oh router is using Firmware: DD-WRT. does desire have multi notifcation LED or just green and orange?
Thinking of sending it back to Orange as an insurance job but before I go through the hassle I wondered if anyone had these symptoms and what they did to fix it. The camera doesn't seem to focus which results in blurry images all the time. I have removed the battery cover and cleaned the lens and the inside of the lens protector but it still doesn't work. I use my camera quite a bit so it has become a source of frustration. I am using the stock camera app and the fault has only developed over the past week.

Basically, I will have a full signal but if a person tries to call me will be forwarded to my voicemail. I will then receive a text informing me that I have a missed call. I want to be able to display their photo from a photo on my phone, or indeed a photo that I have bluetoothed from my PC. However, when I do this, it asks me to 'crop' the photo, which I do, and it simply displays just the top of their head in the little thumbnail! View 2 Replies View RelatedI am on my second handset and I am having so many problems with the phones I'm thinking of just giving up and trying to switch to a Samsung Galaxy S. I'm on the wretched Orange network and my phone has these problems:
- Non-working FM radio - it is static on every setting, although sometimes Radio 2 works(!) regardless of what headphones are plugged in.
- Alarm not working - It just doesn't go off if left overnight, even when turned on and with 2 alarms set.
- No internet via 3G - It gives no traffic, completely dead regardless of signal strength. It works via GSM and HSDPA.
- Randomly dropping calls.
- Randomly not able to send texts.
- People ring me and it goes randomly straight to answerphone.
- Erratic bluetooth, sometimes it works ok, other times it randomly disconnects from headset or car system.
It seems like almost every problem present on this forum, my phone has at once and it's driving me mad. Are these problems likely to be due to the horrible old ROM version that Orange runs (1.15.61.10)? They won't update it because it is too much work to stuff all of their crapware onto newer versions (solely designed to make you pay for things that are already available free, e.g. maps, ringtones etc). I dread to think how long it will be for Froyo on Orange. I am scared of updating the firmware incase it doesn't fix my problems and then I may not be able to get a replacement. Has anyone else used a replacement firmware to get rid of any of the above problems, or should I bite the bullet and go for a Samsung (I know it is cheaper built and doesn't have sense but at least it works right?). Does anyone know if the new "Black" handset on Orange runs the same firmware or has any updates? Also, that awesome Clock feature on Desire, with Alarm, Stopwatch, Timer, etc. Is that Android or Desire cos I'd hate to lose it by changing from HTC.
i just upgraded my Desire this morning, everything works except wifi, the update went smooth without any problem, once the update was done it started up fine, only thing i noticed was the Wifi didnt work, In Setting - Wireless network, it say ?unable to start Wi-Fi? under Wi-Fi.

One more thing i have noticed in setting-about phone-hardware information-under wi-fi mac address is unavailable. Whereas before upgrading it has a wifi mac address which i had noted down. Is it a driver issue? If yes how can i fix it.
I've just come to notice a problem with my desire, which I believe to be fairly long standing.For quite a long time I've been thinking that scrolling down lists/webpages/in apps etc has been quite stuttery, the wierd thing being that if you flick the list/page/whatever and let go (ie let the momentum take it) it's a lot smoother. I noticed today that when I'm scrolling with my finger on the top half of the screen it's actually really smooth, but as soon as my finger reaches the halfway point on the screen it starts to stutter. The stuttering isn't random, it seems like there's a grid of sensitivity on the screen, so it only catches up every 5mm or so (it feels like there's about 15 points of sensitivity horizontally on the screen).To test it I first downloaded the multitouch test app (as it purely reads from the driver where the touches are being detected and displays it on the screen). It still happened. I then downloaded a free drawing app, which seems to accentuate the problem, as when my finger reaches the midpoint of the screen it stops drawing altogether!I imagine it's probably a hardware problem as it's been happening for ages (only just recognised though) and during that time I've installed a debranded rom and then updated to froyo.Has anyone else noticed anything similar? I'll try and get a video on youtube to show the problem at some point. Any advice of things to try or should i just call T-Mobile support?

I have phone set for a pattern lock and to set up after 5 minutes.I just turn my desire on sometimes by pressie the top bottom and the finger slide thingy..isn't even there.This can be after 10 minutes or 3 hours no difference.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated my unbranded desire to FroYo, and now I really wish I hadn't. Anything that requires data not Working as previously. My email is no longer push - I have to go in and manually refresh - which takes at least 5 minutes, and in the case of my exchange email, usually results in a sync error. Twidroyd, Twitter, Peep, Facebook, all timeout whenever I want to refresh them; I may get one proper update a day, but the rest of the time, nada.
Internet is so slow now, I just give up half the time. WiFi flickers on and off, even though it's set to on all the time. Anyone got any ideas of stuff I can check, or whether I can un update - I love the aps2sd and stuff, but it's bricked the rest of my phone. It's getting to the point where I'm actually starting to dislike the phone because it just doesn't work.
if anyone has difficulty playing games e.g. drving games, dont know if its something i'm doing wrong, but I can turn left or right, i.e. the car keeps steering to the left and tilting the phone isn't working. It is something I have not setup or am I doing it all wrong

I'll be returning the Virgin Desire and just received the o2 Desire today.
Setting it up went well, accounts added etc. but I'm having trouble with the WiFi - I can't disable it, every time I do it switches itself back on - I'm assuming that's something to do with the o2 firmware and it wouldn't be a big deal if the WiFi worked properly
I set it to install all my apps, but wouldn't over Wifi, only over 3G, I can't browse the internet or check for software updates in settings... I've got 2 email accounts set up - Gmail & Exchange (just as I did on the other handset), and it's just told me it can't sync to the Exchange server now though it seems to have been fine so far...
Yet I've just sent myself a test email over WiFi successfully - it appeared straight away in the webmail and then back on the handset, so some part of it's working...
I have a single bitmap with several individual pictures in (each one is an option) and I would like to detect when the user touches these pictures. I am using the event.getX and event.getY to detect where is pressed, I know the top left X Y and bottom right location of each of the pictures. What is the best way of detecting which one is pressed? (i.e. tieing up the event press and which picture has been pressed?

Is there a way to detect those in software, or are we just to assume that every device running Android (even the rumored set-top box) is going to have a camera and microphone and try to use them?
In the case of the camera, it would seem that Camera.open() returning null would indicate the lack of hardware. I don't know if that assumption is valid or not, though, considering it isn't documented as such.
In the case of the microphone, though, I don't see anything that could possibly be checked. The same goes for the camera if you're wanting to do video with the MediaRecorder class.
I'm trying to figure out how my Activity can detect if it was launched by an alias as opposed to by the main icon.

alias1 and alias2 appear as expected in the Launcher, but I don't see any way in multipleEntryPointTestActivity to tell which of these icons launched the application.
I have hooked in a ScaleGestureDetector to an OnTouchListener as instructed in Android documentation. For some reason the ScaleGestureDetector does not always detect end of a pinch gesture. This happens mostly when pinching fast from large to small.
The effect is that after I have released both fingers the detector does not fire the gesture end event. If I touch the screen with one afterwards it still thinks I'm continuing the scale gesture (keeps firing onScale events). I have to do another gesture to get the detector to fire end event.
I have added logs to the OnTouchListener and when the scale gesture gets stuck I still get motion events normally when using one finger and event.getPointerCount() is 1.
I have made sure that I don't have any other listeners intervening. View that has the onTouchListener is not the only view on screen but this effect happens also when I'm very careful to begin and end the gesture inside this one view.
Is there any way to improve the end detection?
Or if there a way for me to manually set the ScaleGestureDetector to fire onScaleEnd and change scaleGestureDetector.isInProgress() to false?
Is there a way to detect whether a image was pulled from the folder res/drawable or res/drawable-hdpi?I am trying to save space and have a program that is using some hdpi bitmaps and some mdpi bitmaps. When an image is placed in drawable-hdpi it automatically replaces the mdpi version. I need to know when this happens beacuseI am using bitamp.resize() to fix the image sizes.The problem is that the getDensity() method (in the if statment after the && ) returns the screen density and I need the original bitmap density. This allays matched the screenDPI and returns false. I have a lot of artwork and do not want to duplicate everything for every size screen. I am trying to just create hdpi bitmaps for the ones that don't look good when re-sized.
