HTC Desire :: Wifi Connection Not Working Properly After Upgrade
Aug 25, 2010i just upgraded my Desire this morning, everything works except wifi, the update went smooth without any problem, once the update was done it started up fine, only thing i noticed was the Wifi didnt work, In Setting - Wireless network, it say ?unable to start Wi-Fi? under Wi-Fi.
Firmware version; 2.1-update1
Software number; 1.21.405.2
One more thing i have noticed in setting-about phone-hardware information-under wi-fi mac address is unavailable. Whereas before upgrading it has a wifi mac address which i had noted down. Is it a driver issue? If yes how can i fix it.
HTC Desire :: WiFi Connection Not Working After Using WiFi Hotspot?
Oct 8, 2010I decided to try the WiFi hotspot available through 2.2. GREAT! Actually worked quite a bit better than I thought it would. Only trouble is, ... now I'm back at home, it fails to connect to the home network.
+ Restarting phone
+ Re-entering password
+ Forgetting network + refinding
WiFi sees the network, says "Connecting", comes up "Failed to connect", "Scanning" and loops on that sequence. I know the router's working because this laptop is using it right now

May 24, 2010I'm having to move networks from Virgin back to o2.
I'll be returning the Virgin Desire and just received the o2 Desire today.
Setting it up went well, accounts added etc. but I'm having trouble with the WiFi - I can't disable it, every time I do it switches itself back on - I'm assuming that's something to do with the o2 firmware and it wouldn't be a big deal if the WiFi worked properly
I set it to install all my apps, but wouldn't over Wifi, only over 3G, I can't browse the internet or check for software updates in settings... I've got 2 email accounts set up - Gmail & Exchange (just as I did on the other handset), and it's just told me it can't sync to the Exchange server now though it seems to have been fine so far...
Yet I've just sent myself a test email over WiFi successfully - it appeared straight away in the webmail and then back on the handset, so some part of it's working...

May 7, 2010i have is the desire on wifi does not work properly, i get good signal (router in same room, d-link 615 with 50Mb connection) some sites work bbc.co.uk works like normal but when i brows other sites, facebook, talk.maemo, quidco, ebay.. u get the idea it does not load or takes ages , we are talking mintues 1-3 mins. this applies to apps too, some times it updates and some times it does not. now for the funny thing. when i'm one floor below the router location everything works. Now i have changed channels and security settings with no joy, all other device on the same router work fine, nokia n80, n900, ps3, netbook and main PC wired.
its bugging me, dunno if i should take the handset for replacement. On 3G it works fine, actually works GREAT! on voda (got the phone simfree from CPW) Oh router is using Firmware: DD-WRT. does desire have multi notifcation LED or just green and orange?
HTC Desire :: HTC Sync Not Working Properly
Aug 17, 2010After working fine for months I've just noticed that phone to ms outlook sync of calendar is not working. It started a few days ago but I can't be specific when.Pc to phone of calendar is fine, contacts sync fine both ways.I debranded from Vodafone and went to Froyo 10 days ago.Could this be the cause?Just installed the latest sync 2.0.33 from HTC - no change.It's a pain because I started using the phone to make work appointments, fortunately spotting the problems before any real damage was done with clients.Has anyone else come across this and if so found a fix?

Aug 23, 2010Disclaimer: I've started a new thread as I felt this was distinct enough from 2.2 feedback and different from a similar thread.I upgraded to 2.2 today, did it over my mobile H connection and it all worked fine, no problems to report.Got home and turned the wi-fi on and while it will see all the surround access points, included mine, it won't actually connect to mine. When I go right into the settings and look at what's happening it appears to be unable to get past 'Obtaining Address.Nothing has changed on my wireless setup from this morning when 2.1 connected fine.I've rebooted both the router and the phone and it still doesn't connect. All i've not done yet is a factory reset on the phone, but to be honest i'm loathe to do that unless it's completely necessary.Strangely the wi-fi hotspot feature on the phone is working fine.Can someone please help, this is a major issue for me.

Jun 13, 2010My wi fi isn't working it has found our connection ever since I turned it on now it doesn't. I am sitting right next to the computer but it cannot find it. I uninstalled 360 camera because that is the last app I installed. It was working fine untill I did the update. Than it did a force close a couple of times. That was yesterday than when I turned my phone on this morning it can not find the connection and the letter icon that shows you have mail is not up in the left hand corner of the phone. I really don't want to do a factory reset if I can help it.

None of my calls went through with the first phone; it kept reverting to previous screen, and losing signal to a circle/slash. Also, if anyone could chime in -- I've been a little burned and now want to make sure my battery life, 3G and wifi connections, updates etc. are ducks in a row. Aug 9, 2010I updated my unbranded desire to FroYo, and now I really wish I hadn't. Anything that requires data not Working as previously. My email is no longer push - I have to go in and manually refresh - which takes at least 5 minutes, and in the case of my exchange email, usually results in a sync error. Twidroyd, Twitter, Peep, Facebook, all timeout whenever I want to refresh them; I may get one proper update a day, but the rest of the time, nada.
Internet is so slow now, I just give up half the time. WiFi flickers on and off, even though it's set to on all the time. Anyone got any ideas of stuff I can check, or whether I can un update - I love the aps2sd and stuff, but it's bricked the rest of my phone. It's getting to the point where I'm actually starting to dislike the phone because it just doesn't work.

May 1, 2010I had been tearing my hair out because my new HTC Desire couldn't see my home WiFi and yet occasionally it would "see" a weak signal from a neighbor's house. My Access point was running WEP so I changed it to WPA-SPK - still no good. So I also set up a second standalone WAP running WEP. Still couldn't see either WAP.
Upgraded to latest ROM firmware. No difference. Long story short, it wasn't the type of security, it was because I was using Channel 13, It suddenly occurred to me that not all countries (I'm in Australia) have Channel 13 available so the phone might not have it either. Changed WAP from 13 to Channel 6 (although any other but 13 would no doubt work) and everything worked.

Sep 8, 2010When I'm away from home without a WiFi connection it seems like nothing works. You Tube, Last FM, eBay and worst of all any of the three different types of Twitter I have. Some of these apps are incredibly slow or others just give up. I've never been able to upload a picture via Twitter using any platform. Really annoying. Seems my Gmail isn't even notifying my anymore.. Have I done something? Is this linked to Orange's notoriously poor set up?
Will rooting my phone help? I'm already running out of space on my phone after downloading what I consider a fairly small number of apps. Why don't they save to, and run off, the SD card?

Apr 21, 2010I've uncovered what could be a serious problem with the Desire. It's only affected me in one way so far, but who knows what other problems there are that I haven't found. I've noticed on several occasions that when listening to music via Bluetooth, my headphones disconnect for no apparent reason. However I've found a pattern now: if WiFi is turned on and I come within range of a /remembered/ hotspot, the WiFi connects and BOOM, disconnected from audio. I can reconnect straight away. There is another poster here (sorry, can't remember your name or the thread you posted in) describing another problem with WiFi and Bluetooth working - or conflicting! - together so I don't think I'm the only person suffering. Who else can reproduce it and how could I submit a bug report to HTC?

When I turn on the wifi using the inbuilt HTC wifi widget, it takes about 10-15 seconds before the phone connects to my wifi router and the wifi icon is shown in the notification bar. I am using a Dlink dir-655 router. The settings that I have on the router are as follows:-
wireless mode: 802.11g only
encryption: wpa2 personal AES
mac filtering on (phone's mac address has been added to the list)
SSID is hidden
Other devices such as my laptop and nintendo wii connect to the wifi router within seconds.

Oct 29, 2010My HTC Desire (UK) has been find ever I had it, no issues whatsoever. Recently updated the Android software and ever since then I can only access the web/market etc when connected through wifi.
My signal bar simply shows bars whereas in the past it had either a G, 3G or H next to it, and I'm guessing this is linked into the problem.

Nov 6, 20101. HTC Sense.com not working. I cant seem to find any discussion on this online, but the connection between my phone and HTCSense.com account doesn't seem to be working. There isn't any connection online to show where my phone is located, I can't use any of the features such as ringing the phone remotely etc, is this service not up and running yet or am I late to the party?
2. Apps on SD Card. After originally having a play around (had moved a couple apps to the SD card), my new 16GB SD Card arrived, and I copied everything from the old 8GB one. When I restarted the phone with the new SD card, all the old apps no longer worked, even though they were found registered on the card.........................

Aug 28, 2010I downloaded the froyo upgrade 2 days ago and it seems to have stopped my wifi working. Its not a problem with the router as other devices work on the router. I also checked my desire on other wifi networks and there is no connection to the internet. I manually put in the ip address and the wifi icon comes up but still no link to the internet. When I use my3G mobile internet everything works so it can only be a bug with froyo upgrade.
