I have linked my phone to my gmail account.The account contains 120 contacts. However, on my phone it states that Google contains 240 contacts.This means on my phone, although there are no duplicate names, each name has the same number twice.

After working fine for months I've just noticed that phone to ms outlook sync of calendar is not working. It started a few days ago but I can't be specific when.Pc to phone of calendar is fine, contacts sync fine both ways.I debranded from Vodafone and went to Froyo 10 days ago.Could this be the cause?Just installed the latest sync 2.0.33 from HTC - no change.It's a pain because I started using the phone to make work appointments, fortunately spotting the problems before any real damage was done with clients.Has anyone else come across this and if so found a fix?
View 11 Replies View RelatedDisclaimer: I've started a new thread as I felt this was distinct enough from 2.2 feedback and different from a similar thread.I upgraded to 2.2 today, did it over my mobile H connection and it all worked fine, no problems to report.Got home and turned the wi-fi on and while it will see all the surround access points, included mine, it won't actually connect to mine. When I go right into the settings and look at what's happening it appears to be unable to get past 'Obtaining Address.Nothing has changed on my wireless setup from this morning when 2.1 connected fine.I've rebooted both the router and the phone and it still doesn't connect. All i've not done yet is a factory reset on the phone, but to be honest i'm loathe to do that unless it's completely necessary.Strangely the wi-fi hotspot feature on the phone is working fine.Can someone please help, this is a major issue for me.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI dropped my htc desire today.Now i realised that my power button doesnt turn on the screen after standby, so i have to take out the battery and turn it on again ( YES THE POWER BUTTON ACTUALLY DOES TURN ON THE PHONE)
Soo, is it caused by the drop, or is it a sofware issue?
wifi is connected , but internet only loads first page then freezes with blank page(wifi working perfect with laptop)
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just upgraded my Desire this morning, everything works except wifi, the update went smooth without any problem, once the update was done it started up fine, only thing i noticed was the Wifi didnt work, In Setting - Wireless network, it say ?unable to start Wi-Fi? under Wi-Fi.

One more thing i have noticed in setting-about phone-hardware information-under wi-fi mac address is unavailable. Whereas before upgrading it has a wifi mac address which i had noted down. Is it a driver issue? If yes how can i fix it.
i am new to the android and think i might be doing something wrong here. i installed games like vampires and thunder rage, when it starts it keeps asking to get experience, once ive done this it says to race, then i chose an opponant and it can actualy have a race it just says eith i was succesful or fail. not sure if its ment to do this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI updated my unbranded desire to FroYo, and now I really wish I hadn't. Anything that requires data not Working as previously. My email is no longer push - I have to go in and manually refresh - which takes at least 5 minutes, and in the case of my exchange email, usually results in a sync error. Twidroyd, Twitter, Peep, Facebook, all timeout whenever I want to refresh them; I may get one proper update a day, but the rest of the time, nada.
Internet is so slow now, I just give up half the time. WiFi flickers on and off, even though it's set to on all the time. Anyone got any ideas of stuff I can check, or whether I can un update - I love the aps2sd and stuff, but it's bricked the rest of my phone. It's getting to the point where I'm actually starting to dislike the phone because it just doesn't work.
if anyone has difficulty playing games e.g. drving games, dont know if its something i'm doing wrong, but I can turn left or right, i.e. the car keeps steering to the left and tilting the phone isn't working. It is something I have not setup or am I doing it all wrong
View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen like it for 2 weeks now, when i turn my desire on its side to horizontal the screen does not change it use to then one day didnt. its not the new firmware i know this because it was doing this before i updated. anyone els experiencing this and do you have a fix? im hoping the new 2.2 might fix it but can not see it happening tbh.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo Ive been messing with my contacts and exported them to Gmail where I edited them.I now want those contacts back on my phone as google contacts but don't know how to do it.In the people setting I currently have all my contacts saved as 'phone' but there are some errors. The ones Ive edited on Gmail have all the errors fixed.I have no contacts as 'google' in the people setting.Ive tried syncing with google (with contacts selected) but nothing came through. Could this be because I still had the contacts open in Gmail on my laptop ?I also tried selecting export from Gmail which created a CSV (or similar !) file, however this file was only a few bytes in size and when I saved it on the SD card and tried to import in people there was nothing on it ?So all I want to do is get the correct contacts from Gmail onto the people app on the Desire under 'google' contacts.I feel its something simple that im not doing right.

When i first set up my gmail account years ago i upploaded a massive list of contacts.On my phone how do i just see the details for people i regulary want to contact.I could just delete all the old contacts out of gmail, but there must be a easier way surely?

I've been searching and can only find people with Hero's saying there is an option in People - Groups, then press menu, and you should be able to select what groups to sync. But I don't have this option. (Though I did here one Hero owner saying his option wasn't there at first.) Strangely, I even have more contacts than my Gmail "all contacts". Somehow I have some duplicates or fragments, I don't know. how to leave out syncing All Contacts?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have about 300-odd contacts on my Gmail account - most, if not all, have no telephone number information on them, but I am guessing they still get copied over to the phone? Such that I will have a contact card on the phone that has no number, just an email? I don't email that much from my phone, so it seems pointless having most of these "email only" contacts on my phone. Secondly, a number of these contacts are named by email address i.e. some contact names appear as "doug1986" simply because Gmail has taken it from the email address doug1986@whatever.com. I really rather not have these synced across tot he mobile as they are old addresses (which I still dont want to delete).

However, all my contacts are stored as phone so i know i either need to change them all to Google or export them and import into Gmail (a pain but there you go).
I have no contacts in gmail so i added one and it synced perfectly to my phone.
However, as a test, i added a new google contact to my phone and synced. It didn't show up in Gmail and I believe this can take some time, and this would be fine but it has disappeared from my phone!
It seems as if the sync has wiped out the contact from my phone because it doesn't appear on my gmail account. THis means it only syncs one way which is useless for me as the whole reason for me doing this is to get a backup of my contacts in case of emergencies!
i'm gonna transfer all my contact details to my gmail contacts and am wondering if when i sync the contacts through my HTC DESIRE if i'm able to choose which contacts to sync or even better, which group to sync?it would suck if EVERY contact i have is put on my desire, just no need for that and the above? applies to facebook too. any ideas?

I have just spent 3 hours typing all of my contacts into my new Gmail account due to probs a)transferring contacts from my old iphone to my HTC and, b)transferring contacts from the iphone to gmail.
I have manually deleted all of the contacts from my SIM card to avoid further confusion, and am now trying to sync the contacts freshly added to my gmail account, with my empty HTC desire phone book.
This process would appear to be self-explanatory, and pretty easy, going by other peoples' posts...however the HTC has claimed to be 'synchronizing' via HTC Sync for the past hour, but nothing is happening!
So i am trying to get my contacts set up once and for all.
i have synced my phone to gmail contacts, then to test i went into gmail and deleted a contact, then did the sync again but the contact in question was still on my phone
what gives? and i have synced the desire 5 times in the last 24 hours but no change. any ideas or do i not get how sync works?
ps, is it possible to choose which gmail contacts 'group' to sync as i really don't want EVERY SINGLE contact in my e-m list.
I've had no problems with push email from gmail to my Desire since I had it - about 2 months ago.
Today though it's not popping up notifications.
I've tried clearing the gmail cache but still the same.
Does anyone know if it's my device or google issue?

However, I am not able to find the particular forum thread helping me out.I just got my HTC Desire yesterday and managed to get my contacts on my gmail-account (in the internet). So far so good. My contacts are "safe" in my google-mail-account and I was able to export them as cvs.Now, on my HTC Desire they actually show up, if I choose "people" -> "menu and view" -> "Google".In the list of "view" I can also see my SIM Card (which says its empty and that is correct) and "Phone" which is empty as well. Please correct me if I am wrong:From what I think I see my contacts are on my internet googlemail account only and my phone is connecting to the internet to get them.But that is not I would want. I would want my contacts being synced between my phone (which is not necessarily connected to the internet all the time) and my internet google-mail account.Now, is there a way to bring those contacts on my phone (using the on board tools) so I can use them "offline" or am I misunderstanding the menu and the contacts are already "offline" on my phone marked as "Google" contacts?
View 7 Replies View RelatedRight this might be a completely fucktard question but i'm going to ask it anyway coz i don't want to lose information that will take me ages to gather again.When i was first putting contacts into my phone a month ago (how time flies) i kept losing the information i had put in because my gmail account was empty and when it was syncing with the phone it wiped what i had added to the phone.I disabled the contact syncing and carried on filling my people section up on my phone. Now, how do i get the contacts on my phone into my gmail account on the pc?I don't want to just enable syncing again incase it wipes all the contacts i've put into the phone!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trialing gcal because at some point i might switch to gmail and gcal completely from outlook/yahoo. All entries that i input in gcal sync to my phone fine but any new entries that i input into my phone do not sync to gcal. I have checked sync settings on my Desire are turned on for calendar and contacts. Syncing via mobile web instead of wifi. All previous calendar items have syncd to gcal but any new items that i put into my desire calendar don't sync to gcal or vice versa. I also can't get any of my contacts from my desire to sync to gmail webclient. (this is the first time im starting to use it for email instead of just android market).

I have read that the notification area should now show an icon indicating that there are 'matched contacts suggestions' but it does not. I can go through individual contacts and link them, but I need to do them all in one go...
I have tried syncing my gmail account but still nothing.
I dont care about facebbook right now. I have searched on the firum but pretty much every post is about facebook.
Ideally i just want all my contacts merged on the gmail account or for 'people' to show a merged list.
Can anyone help me figure out why the notification icon wont show me there are matched contacts suggestions so i can see a list of all the suggestions?
edit: This has now sorted itself out. Dont know why it didnt work when it said it was syncing before. maybe it didnt like the number of contacts involved and only wanted to do it on its own 3 hours after i asked. I am unable to get all my gmail contacts onto my desire. I have a gmail account setup on the phone, syncing is set to automatic and the gmail account has all options ticked for syncing. Even after i run a manual sync it does not retrieve all my gmail contacts (people is completely empty, and 'view' is set to only show gmail contacts)I know its possible because i had them on there before. I removed them from the phone as there were lots of duplicates after merging with my phones contacts. These duplicates all got sent up to gmail and so i removed everything from the phone in order to tidy it all up on gmail with the intention of then re-importing them from gmail. But it will not get anythying from gmail now.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHad my Hero (T-mobile branded G2...) since release day, but in the last week or so I've had a few issues. Firstly, Gmail isn't synchronising regularly. Sometimes mail comes through instantly, sometimes it doesn't update for a day or more (if I open the Gmail app and "Refresh" it pulls the new mails down). I can't think of anything I've installed that could cause this (all i've installed in the last week are a few soundboards)Secondly, if I go into Market and try to either install a new app, or update an existing one, it sticks on "Starting download..." until I connect to Wifi (then downloads the app immediately). Is there a problem with the Market at the moment, or is this more likely to be a network issue?

It was working perfectly and then my emails were taking ages to come to my phone then i updated to froyo and reset my phone and it was working really well at times, emails would even come to my phone before it came on the computer. but now, its back again for example, when i registered here, the activation email didn't come, and after about 4 mins, i had to refresh it, and then it came. Does anyone have a fix for it?is it cos i have installed too many apps? or something like that? I did change my mobile internet pack and after i got off the phone with the customer service agent, i realized my internet wasn't on and then it had changed to another APN which doesn't seem to work, other internet stuff work. So is that the problem?

It wont send mail, it won't properly archive mail, the notifications don't work, and on. Did this happen because I restored an old version? Does gmail update itself or can I push a new update?
