HTC Desire :: Incoming Calls Not Connecting Properly
Jun 23, 2010
I'm not sure if it's an issue with my Desire or my SIM card or network (T-Mobile). Basically, I will have a full signal but if a person tries to call me will be forwarded to my voicemail. I will then receive a text informing me that I have a missed call. Also, when calling a contact, there will sometimes be a long delay before it finally connects and begins to ring.

Does anyone have the problem of the phone only ringing twice on incoming calls, the ringer then stops but the caller is still there, have I got a setting wrong, how can I get it to ring until I answer the call?

I know there has been various threads about the Desire and issues about connecting to 3G and receiving calls.
I have experienced a number of problems connecting to 3G even when I have full signal and there seems to be no reason why it wouldn't work as on the odd occasion it works perfectly!
I have today found another problem. I was waiting for a call from my wife when I received a text message to say I had a missed call. The phone was on my desk right next to me with a full signal and did not ring. When I finally spoke to my wife she told me it went straight to voicemail with no ring?
I now appear to have a phone that can't receive calls or connect to the internet...smartphone indeed!
I have contacted orange who can confirm they have not been made aware of this issue before...
I am reluctant to give me phone to the Carphone Warehouse as a friend put theirs in for repair and didn't see it for 2 months and when it came back it was still broken!
I still think that it i a network issue but Orange don't want to recognise the issue.

Noticed today that every time I get an incoming call and answer, the caller cant hear me talking. When I call them back they hear me fine, but when I answer an incoming call they can not hear me. This just started happening today.

So I was cycling home from work listening to some music on my Desire through the headphones via Meridian music player. During the trip home the music muted for 10 seconds or so and then re-started. I checked the phone and noticed that I had a missed call. My phone was set to vibrate only. I didn't feel it vibrate in my pocket whilst cycling. When I've listened to music before I've always heard some notification through the headphones when a call, text or email has come through but I can't be sure that the phone was on vibrate on these occasions.
Can anyone confirm that when using the headphones with the phone on vibrate you will not get an audible notification when a call, text or email comes through? If this is the case its a bit annoying because if its an email I am happy to wait till I get home but if its a call I want to take it straight away. With no audible notification you have no way of knowing whats come through.

I have my desire from the end of april. Everything was ok, battery runs about 30-50 hours depending on the load til last week monday. I start to receive a sms about missed calls and peoples tell me what then they call me operator says that phone is out of reach. Now the battery runs only a day. about 12 hours.
I take a look into Battery use and there shows that Android system uses about 63% Is this normal?

I'm having to move networks from Virgin back to o2.
I'll be returning the Virgin Desire and just received the o2 Desire today.
Setting it up went well, accounts added etc. but I'm having trouble with the WiFi - I can't disable it, every time I do it switches itself back on - I'm assuming that's something to do with the o2 firmware and it wouldn't be a big deal if the WiFi worked properly
I set it to install all my apps, but wouldn't over Wifi, only over 3G, I can't browse the internet or check for software updates in settings... I've got 2 email accounts set up - Gmail & Exchange (just as I did on the other handset), and it's just told me it can't sync to the Exchange server now though it seems to have been fine so far...
Yet I've just sent myself a test email over WiFi successfully - it appeared straight away in the webmail and then back on the handset, so some part of it's working...

I have had my evo for a little over a month now and I love it, only problem is it wont accept any incoming calls anymore. At first it would accept some but now it I don't get any. I updated to froyo today hoping it might fix something but no luck. I took it to sprint a few days ago he updated it and said see if it works now if it doesn't take it to the repair shop and if they cant fix it then they will give you a new one but I don't know how you'll be able to get a new one because we don't have any. I would rather not get a new one because I got the invisible shield put on my phone and I would rather not have to waste money getting a new one/putting it on. Has anyone else heard of evos doing this or know of anything that could make this happen? Everything else works fine on the phone.

Is it possible to set up a number (e.g. Google Voice or something else) and link that number to your mobile #, such that who ever calls you first dials the "proxy" number and the proxy is what directs them to you?
I ask because I have the 10 friends and family thing and I'd like to do a "one to many" by placing my proxy number on the list of numbers (so calls aren't deducted from my plan's minutes) and having certain people dial that number to get to me.
That way, the incoming number would (in theory) be the proxy number and therefore static, so that I could talk to non-Verizon people without the calls eating into my minutes.
I know one question will be: "So why not just list that phone number on your 10 friends and family list?"
Answer: Because I want a dummy proxy number so that, if I ever (i.e. can't anticipate which numbers they'll be) need to make a long call to a non-Verizon #, I can just have them dial that proxy number.
Make sense? Is this possible?
I also heard from a friend once about SIP or PBX virtual hosting to get all my calls onto VoIP through 3G or WiFi. That's something else that sounds like it works (because that person mentioned they were setting it up) and I may try if I can't do what I'm requesting above.

I was trying to come up with an app that works on the call that a user gets on his phone. For this I wanted to know whether it is possible for me to get intimated when a call comes to the phone and is it possible to intercept the same.I tried to go through quite a few forums but could not get conclusive evidence on how to achieve this.Does anyone have an idea whether this is feasible and if so then how?

I LOVE my EVO, but I have all my notifications set to vibrate which I like, except when I receive an incoming phone call, instead of just vibrating every 2 seconds or so, the thing goes into bezerk crazy vibrate mode, it's quite annoying and loud.Especially if I am sitting in a meeting and I get a call, every other phone I've had in my life just vibrates every few seconds, until it either goes to voicemail, or I ignore the call to stop the vibrating. So is there anyway to keep the EVO from vibrating so ferociously?I mean it doesn't even stop to breathe just one vibrate right after another.

2.2 froyo OTA
rooted, virtuous 2.7 + custom kernal
setCPU with just screen off profile
It is very sporatic but happens quite frequently. Sometimes i will see an incoming call, hear the ringer, then when i click "Accept" it appears to be connected, but i hear dead silence. Then about 10 seconds later the call is ended. It may happen a few times in a row, and it also may not happen. I never have any issues dialing out though. I know the people calling me, and sometimes it is people who don't call regularly. They wouldn't play games like prank call me.

I purchased the HTC Hero from Sprint around a week ago, and it came with a stock 1.5. Had no issues at all, so today decided to try out the leaked 2.1 RUU. Updated without a hassle, but I've been experiencing some issues. This led to me repairing the bootloader and then trying DamageControl 2.08, and now finally fresh 2.0d. All installations went perfectly, nothing to call home about.
It cannot automatically detect my timezone, and it has no clue as to my location for weather nor other features. When I enable the GPS to go onto Maps, it locates me as around 1,000 miles off the west coast of Africa, whereas I'm in Pennsylvania, USA. I can call my phone from another line, but no response on my phone (no calls received, nor missed calls). When voicemails/messages come in, they flood in (10 new messages, etc, that have all stacked up).
I'm using the Wireless Tethering that comes with Fresh 2.0d, and I used PDANet/EasyTether prior to now (as my sole internet is tethering). I'm wondering if this could have at all affected it. Even with tethering disabled for a good hour, still nothing can reach me. If anyone has any suggestions, that'd be greatly appreciated. (Perhaps a radio update?)

I just got my Droid yesterday and all of the sudden about two hours ago my girlfriend said she tried calling me for the last 40 min and my phone would ring once and go to voicemail. Earlier in the day i called Verizon to cancel my Visual Voicemail and after the rep did that for me he told me to dial *228 and select option 2 to update my roaming features....so I did.
Since then my girlfriend had the issue of her calls going to voicemail and my phone not even ringing. Can *228 cause this issue? Is this a common problem? I called Verizon back and the rep told me to dial *228 and hit option 1 to reprogram my phone. I did it and tried calling my phone from my other line and it is working fine. I can make calls no problem too. I calle my Droid about 15 times and everytime it went through. Is it possible for a specific person's phone to have an issue getting through to another phone?

When I first got my Vibrant a week after launch date, I noticed most people would tell me they had been calling me but I never received the call. Sometimes they said it would go straight to voicemail, sometimes it would ring and ring and ring with no answer and voicemail never coming on. Some times I wouldn't get text messages either, or just get the text messages hours after it was sent.
I ended up having to switch to Edge, which I really don't like because it's so much slower in my area than 3G. I know 3G is not what carries phonecalls, and that it shouldn't really matter. But my girlfriend and I both bought a Vibrant the same day, and we both have the same problem. She has gotten her Vibrant exchanged for a new one about a month ago since it ended up having a problem with the SD Card, and I had to get my Vibrant replaced a few weeks ago as well because my first one was lagging like crazy, and freezing............

When I get in my car my phone pairs with my Parrot so I can make and receive calls without using my phone. My HTC Magic pairs with the device fine (it does take 5 mins or so to sync fully) and I am able to see my contact list and make calls from it without any problems. It puts the audio and the microphone through the Parrot system and its fine. The problem occurs when I receive a call unfortunately. The Parrot system realizes I have an incoming call and cuts out my radio / cd in the car and rings as it should do.
Unfortunately my phone also rings and when I accept the call (on either the phone or the parrot) it doesn't automatically put the call through the parrot. I have to use the phone and manually set the call to go through the bluetooth, which as you can appreciate is a bit fiddly whilst trying to drive. I've had a look round for an app that sorts this, and checked the bluetooth settings on the phone but I've not been able to find anything as of yet that will solve the problem.

I recently switched from T-mobile to Verizon, and just picked up my nice shiny new HTC Incredible phone. It works great, with one exception.Whenever I get an incoming call, the phone just shows that I have an incoming call but doesn't show the caller's phone number, or the name if they are one of my contacst. It doesn't matter if the call is coming from a land line, a Verizon mobile phone, or whether or not they are on of my contacts, each time all it shows is incoming call, and nothing esle.I probably have some setting screwed up, but so far I can't find it.

I'm coming from a WinMo phone and am waiting for my Incredible to arrive by Fedex. On my old phone I had to use an app (ProContacts) to have a full screen photo of my incoming caller appear. Is anything like this built in to the Incredible? If not is there a similar app out there?

I have an app on Android that reacts to incoming calls. Now, since the OS shuts my app down whenever it want, I need a way to to listen to the incoming calls and launch the app when it happens. Will a BroadcastReceiver help? (just like launching on device restart).
