Having problems with the htc facebook app
first off - is it possible to "poke" people back on it?
problem - when i go to notifications and click refresh, it always fails and displays an error

After implementing some Android Apps, including several Map activities, I try to refresh the activity when the GPS listener's onLocationChanged() mehtod is called. I have no idea how to tell the map activity to refresh on its own and display the new coords. the coords to store will have to be in global values, so that the location listener will have access to it. In my sample GPS-class (see code below) I just changed the text of a text view....but how to do that in map view?

My Facebook app on my HTC Evo was working fine until about a week ago, when suddenly I started getting this error message:
"Cannot retrieve the notifications. Please try again later. [601/Parser Error: Unexpected "-" at position 64.]"
Any suggestions for a fix? I've tried logging out and back in, and I can't figure out how to reinstall the app (uninstall option isn't available on the app settings screen).
I got my HTC Droid Incredible back in July, and it worked amazingly for the last couple of months. All my apps have been running smoothly until recently, when Facebook started giving me problems. Now I don't know if this is a server thing, facebook itself, or a glitch in my phone, but I keep getting error messages.
When I refresh my notifications I get:
Cannot retrieve notifications. Please try again later. [601/Parser error: unexpected '-' at position 64.]
And occasionally I get another error/null type message when I try to refresh my newsfeed.
I've tried to reboot my phone, reinstall facebook, let my phone die recharge it blah blah blah. So, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! Thanks :]
Anyone else getting an error on facebook when they check for notifications? i keep getting this long as error, and i can't connect a facebook account, but my friends and newsfeed are all updated. it's just notifications.

AFIK, this option wasn't implemented yet. Is this starting to roll out now?
I'm new to Android, so maybe this is an Android problem rather than an N1 problem, but my phone keeps getting error messages whenever I try to check my notifications through my Facebook app.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI find the facebook App really poor. I don't seem to be getting notifactions when i get a message or someone posts on my wall.
I have checked the settings and i have ticked all the options but nothing.
Am i right in thinking that the phone should alert me to any post even when i am on the home screen (i.e. not in facebook app)?
I have Facebook for Android set to update notifications every hour and have set it to vibrate and play a sound...but I have yet to get even 1 notification. I have to go in to and manually update myself. Anyone else got this problem?

When i send text messages to some contacts, the phone decides to send them not as an sms but as an email or sometime even an mms! 2. My voicemail notifications are being received under one of my Facebook contacts instead of just plain Vodafone! Very weird as my contacts list isnt set to display Facebook contacts even though its an option! Is anyone else having the same problem and been able to fix this? Im sure its just the settings that need to be changed but ive had a play and just cant seem to stop it happening!

View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving a few problems ringing people on my phone. I get a voice saying "the number you have called has not been recognised". I looked at the number and it start 447xxxxxxxxxx I went to edit the number in phonebook and it's fine cos it starts off as 07xxxxxxxxx, i have to edit the number each time i wanna ring these person now unless they're in my previous call list! They are linked to their facebook profile but they don't store their number of facebook so why is it being converted to 447xxxxxxxxxx if it has the + before the 44 i think it would be an issue! I've never had this issue before either
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Facebook for HTC Sense setup in my "Accounts & Sync" section. When I hit the SYNC NOW button there, it seems to sync ok.
However, when I open the PEOPLE program, and select the ONLINE DIRECTORIES and then select FACEBOOK (I assume this is the HTC Sense facebook integration), it says connection error.
Is there some setting I'm missing somewhere?
When I DL'd the GDE app, I accidentally set my stock droid "HOME" screen as the default screen when the popup box came up asking me to choose between stock Home and GDE. Now when I click on GDE and click the home button, it switches back to the stock Home screen. How to I switch the settings now to set the GDE app as the new home screen?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a facebook event in my device's calendar that is displaying the correct time on the main calendar, but showing the incorrect event time in two different calendar widgets I've tried, as well as the event list in the Facebook app.
To make matters more complicated, the facebook app is displaying a different incorrect time than the widgets.
I've removed the facebook event from my calendar, reinstalled the widgets, done a battery pull, resynced, and the problem persists.
I think the host changed the time of the event after I first synced it to my phone, but I'm not sure.
Why is it that with "Sync of WiFi" and refresh interval at never, does my Facebook app STILL update and refresh on it's own?
Anyone else notice this? I am only on WiFi at home, but this thing syncs while at work for 9 hours and not connected to WiFi.
I cannot figure out how to refresh a web site or facebook without killing the internet with a task killer. I can go back to the web or facebook hours after closing them and the same page comes up. Any tips for how to fix this?
