View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been reading through the manual for the Desire and it states that you can have a different lock screen wallpaper to the wallpaper when the screen has been unlocked.
However, I can't seem to manage this at all.
Does anyonw know if this is possible or if it is an error in the HTC manual?
The reason being I would like to have a nice bright lock screen image but a normal black background for when apps and widgets are all over it.
I downloaded pictures off the internet and tried to set them as my background, and it says "This picture has been set as wallpaper" But its just the default wallpaper. So then I tried the Bar code scanner wallpapers and Android themes.com and same thing!

View 3 Replies View RelatedIŽm working on the UI of my first app and IŽd like it to work on as many different devices as possible. IŽve read on the net about AndroidŽs rule not to resize bitmaps on views (background, buttons, etc), is it true? Does android rescale skinned views sizes the same way it resizes the default ones? Also, if not, how can I handle the more than 5 display sizes using a background image and skinned buttons and scrollers (horizontal bar)?

This morning I was running late for my lift and I missed a call from my mate asking where I was. I got my phone out and couldn't see a thing on the screen so had no idea who was ringing me. Turns out a plain black wallpaper and lowest setting brightness does not like being outdoors.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a listview that when you click on an item it will take you to a WebView that displays some static formatted text associated with that list entry.
I had it all working with a TextView but I wanted to be able to use HTML formatting for the text and figured the WebView was the way to go. Right now it is just supposed to display a generic link for testing purposes but when the viewContent intent starts it just goes to a black screen. I can go back and pick another entry and it also just shows the black screen.
I'm not sure what code you are going to want to see so here's the viewSection class file and the viewsection.xml layout.

I have a layout with a TextView and a List, and in onCreate() I have the TextView request focus. On the G1 and emulator the screen comes up with the TextView having focus, and the on-screen keyboard will display when you tap on the TextView, but on the Galaxy apparently the on-screen keyboard is always displayed. Does anyone know why this would be so? And why would a phone without a keyboard act differently from a phone with a keyboard that's hidden--shouldn't they follow the same logic?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am wondering how to set a background in Live Wallpaper for Android. It seems the only options I have are to create it using a canvas which I don't want. I want to be able to set up a time lapse of a tree that goes through the seasons. I'm assuming I'll be able to set the coordinates for the leaves and then just have different times to fall, but is it possible to have them expand or even change colors?

I found a method in API level 5 that gives you the minimum size of the wallpaper, but I would like to support previous versions of Android as well.
When this is installed on a 2.1 phone, that has live wallpaper, the live wallpaper is not returned by getWallpaper() , because it just returns a Drawable, and live wallpaper probably is another thing. So the question is, is it possible to show a live wallpaper on the background of a 1.6 application? How?
View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was listening to Pandora and I wanted to snap a picture with my EVO, so I hit the 'Home' button and then opened the Camera app. After that the little camera icon showed in the middle of the screen for a second or two and disappeared. Next the screen was blank. I also tried the camcorder and the screen was also blank. I've done many resets/pulling the battery out and I still have no luck. Any ideas as to what is causing my camera to not work at all? The only way to exit out of the blank screen is to press the 'Home' button on the phone.

Suppose I receive a call on the handset with my app xyz running in the background. All I need is to fetch the Caller's name from the application xyz and display this name as" Akash Calling..." instead of "+91... calling..." assuming that caller's details are present in the application say, his name and none of his details in the actual address book. Is this feasible.

I'm writing a live wallpaper that creates an effect over a background. I want the user to be able to choose the background from any of the system wallpapers and camera photos. What I would like is for the user to be able to press a button in the Settings menu, have the list of options show up just like setting the wallpaper from the home screen, minus the Live Wallpapers options. Once the user navigates the choices and picks an actually image I would load it to my canvas. How do I do this?
I can't find an API anywhere for getting a list of wallpapers.
I've been able to come up with a list of wallpaper providers using Intents. I then get a list of live wallpaper providers also using Intents and remove those from my first list. The gives me a list of wallpaper providers that are not live.
Now what? Are there other ways to do this that I'm missing?
