Had my desire a couple of weeks and it has started playing up.Whenever I try and open any app that uses 3d my screen freezes and the only way to reset the phone is by removing the battery.I've tried factory resetting the phone but the problem seems to be getting worse. Looks like it will be getting returned on Tuesday.

Can I do any damage by just pulling the battery while the phone is on? With the number of times I have to change the battery to keep the phone going, its just easier than going through the effort to power down.

A few times, when I've received a call when my phone's been in my pocket, I've accidentally rejected the call when removing the phone from my pocket i.e. I've inadvertently made the screen gesture that cancels the call. Has anyone found a way of modifying the call answer / reject options to avoid this situation?

What is the lowest % my battery will go on the EVO before the phone dies and is unable to power on until charged? I've ran it down to 20% but that isn't even close i'm hoping. My old palm pre would be very close to death and cut-out anywhere under 16%. I'd just like to know in-case I get into an emergency battery saving situation.

HTC desire users. I often charge my phone rather frequently like once it twice a day. Sometimes I charge even when the battery is only half full as I am going out. Will this spoil the battery or phone? (If I charge when the battery have not been all used up).I heard from people that it might spoil the phone if I charge in this manner frequently.

My HTC Desire no longer shuts down, I sometimes need to shut down just to help keep the phone working at its best but when I power off the spinning circle just keeps spinning saying shutting down. I have left it for a couple of hours before and its still stuck there, never used to have this problem with my phone when I first got it.I am running an Orange branded phone with Android 2.1. I really don't like this Orange 2.1, its pants and alot slower than a stock 2.1 or the new 2.2.

Is it just me or does anyone else have trouble removing their battery cover?Sometimes it comes off really easily and sometimes it won't come off at all.I lost patience with it last week and tried to get it open with my car key and scratched it.I think the cover should have some kind of grip on it so that your finger/thumb doesn't slip when you try to open it.Now have a new cover on order from HTC,hopefully the new one might be easier to get off.

I find my status bar is very cluttered and has some unnecessary icons that I'd rather not have (particularly bluetooth, alarm, and battery [I use Battery Status app]). I found this article on how to remove the stock battery icon but it's designed for the Samsung Moment. Anyone brave enough to try it on their Evo?

So I just got my Moment last night, and I cannot figure out how to remove the SD card. EVERYTHING I have found says it's under the battery (wtf), but I can't get the battery cover off to get to it, and I can't find any instructions on how to remove the battery cover.

This isn't a /major/ problem but it will irritate me if I can't find a solution! How can I get rid of all the game demos that Orange have so thoughtfully installed on my Desire? I've had a look in Settings > Applications but the Uninstall option for these doesn't show up.

With today's unofficial announcement of a new Android 2.2 (Froyo) and rumors about release date (19th of May on Google I/O conference) I just wonder how long it will take HTC to deliver new Android for Desire... or we will stuck for ages as a Hero?

I have now had 7 random crashes in two days and the only way I know to get phone back on is to take the battery out and replace it. When it crashes - the screen goes black, but the green alert light still flashes. Does anyone else have this or a solution? It is stock with just a few added apps from the market.

Just called O2 about my Galaxy, It keeps shutting down and I cannot power up without first removing and replacing the battery, I's just over 1 month old and they deny any knowledge of this happening at all, They want me to send it for repair and have the priviledge of waiting up to 14 days to get it returned whilst I merrily pay a contract fee to them!

My desire takes ages to shut down, I'm talking like a couple of hours or more!! the only other person I know with one is having the same problem. I was watching a couple of threads on this subject with various solutions but nothing definative. I'm on Orange, not many apps installed really. This is the only problem i have with my desire, the phone is awesmoe otherwise. I would love it even more if I could turn it off when i wanted to tho

This is my first post, so please be gentle. My Desire takes more than 5 minutes to shut down when I turn it off at night. Is this normal, or is it likely that a rogue app is preventing a speedy shut down?

There are some minor scratches in the window that the camera lens uses to take pictures on the battery cover. Even if I don't get all of them (some MIGHT be too deep, its hard to tell whether my fingernail catches or not in that little area), it would still be better if I could get some of them out. Any way I can do this without harming the lens even more? The scratches are on the outside of the cover, btw, not the tiny circle opening on the inside.

I have asked this on the bloatware thread, and I've only seen one person mention that they have seen an improvement (BringTheRain403). I know a lot of you have removed most of the bloatware by now.
Do you see a noticeable increase in performance or battery life after removing the bloatware? By removing, I mean freezing the apk's in Titanium Backup. I don't really have a problem with this stuff being on the phone, but if it will noticeably help to remove it, then I definitely will.

What possible reason could there be for you to code your apps so that they switch on in the background when the phone is turned on and use up precious battery life?
Or, why would you code your apps to stay on after I, the user, have hit the back button because I no longer want your app to run?
I mean, REALLY! Yes, I own up to being a newbie Android user, and what I don't know could fill the Library of Congress. Still, this is common sense we're talking about here. I've done some industrial app development and Enter/Exit, On/Off are basic pieces of logic in the main loop of an program in any language.
The only reason that we phone users need task killer apps is because you developers insist on creating apps that don't know when the f**k to turn themselves off.
And, it seems to me like you, the app developers, are one of the main reason why these phones have such crappy battery life. I mean, my Samsung Instinct, as bad as it was, got 18 to 24 hours of life off of one charge. With the Hero, I'm lucky if I can get 10 hours, and that's even with configuring my email download to only three times per day!
This is not hard, people. You code the app to stay off until, I, the user, manually turn it on. AND, you also code it to turn off when I, the user, hit the back button.
Yes, I understand that there are certain apps that it is advantageous to keep running in the background. So, fine, make it so those keep running. BUT, there is no possible reason for apps like Flashlight, or BBC News, or Camera, or SprintTV to have to run all the time in the background!
I am so tempted to just trash the lot of you. If I did, maybe I might not have as much functionality, but my teenager would be able to reach me late in the day because my phone battery would still have juice.

I've been meaning to ask this for a while but haven't got around to it.When you uninstall an app from your phone, via the market, that is the app entirely removed from your phone, isn't it?Is there any way of removing the previously installed apps from your downloads list on your market? Or are they there for your reference?
