HTC Desire :: Shut Down Phone Only By Removing Battery
Jun 1, 2010IF i want to turn the phone off it will go to shutting down and continue to do this for hours the only way to sort this is to remove the battery, is there a fix or is anyone else having this problem ? this hard core shut down cannot be doing the phone any good.

Took out the battery and replaced it. Now the phone appears to be charging, but the icons for charging will not stay lit. Although it has been on the charger for some time, the phone will not boot up
Through a google search, I found that many people get the battery with a yellow triangle and a red thermometer. Most think that temperature is the problem, but no one has conclusively identified the problem. I do not get the thermometer, so my problem is probably different.
HTC Incredible :: Suddenly Battery Time Decreased Twofolds
Aug 17, 2010Last week I noticed that my battery lifetime decreased two folds. I used to be able to go by without charge for a good 24 hours if I used it moderately. Now all of a sudden my battery goes down 50% in less than 4 hours of same moderate use. I didn't install any new softwares, I tried closing running apps, I even installed task killer and tried using it to kill running on the back ground apps, but nothing helps (uninstalled task killer same result). What is wrong with this crap? I didn't root or did anything else different than two weeks ago... What a heck?
I know that 2.2 OTA release will help with the battery life (at least that is what they promise), but nobody knows when this release will be available and meanwhile I am suffering from dead battery in less than 8 hours of moderate use.
Motorola Droid :: Battery Life Suddenly Cut In Half
May 6, 2010I suspect many of you are like me and monkey with your phones so damned much that sometimes it's hard to pinpoint what changes we've made to which changes we've noticed. I've been running UD 9.0 ever since it came out. I've had great battery life with SetCPU profiles set from 250MHz to 1Ghz unless the battery goes below 30%, in which case it goes down to a max of 550MHz with a low still at 250MHz. The only thing I've changed recently is downloads of app updates, (...including SetCPU, btw). The other day my home WiFi crapped out, so I used a tether app and played around online with my laptop using my phone. I had never done it for so long before, but inside of about three hours, my battery was at 20%, when usually at that time of day, it's at hour 13 from last charge, and at about 40%. Now my battery is not lasting a whole 14 hours, where it used to go from 5 AM to 10 PM before it gave me the "15% juice left" heads up. I don't know if it's because of a bad SetCPU update, or a wifi tether app problem, or what.

Whereas I used to maybe only use 10% battery after the first 5-6 hours of my day, I find myself now down to 60% in that same timespan. May 22, 2012a week ago i bought new phone. Huawei Ascend G300. Everything was fine for a week but yesterday suddenly the phone freeze and i had to pull out the battery. After switching the phone on a screen for factory reset appears. Four lines of errors come up and the phone self formated itself. (error reading data, reading cache etc..). So i set it up again but it happens again today...First it was while i play modern combat 2. Second time when i was just scrolling thorough screens. (already formated SD card and phone manualy - will see what happens). Anyway heres hprof error file which was generates after the crash and self format.

Jul 12, 2010What is the lowest % my battery will go on the EVO before the phone dies and is unable to power on until charged? I've ran it down to 20% but that isn't even close i'm hoping. My old palm pre would be very close to death and cut-out anywhere under 16%. I'd just like to know in-case I get into an emergency battery saving situation.

Aug 19, 2010I've been running with about 15-20mb of memory left for the last couple of months perfectly happily, haven't installed any new apps etc. This morning when I woke up the phone was suddenly reading completely full with something like 44kb of internal memory left. I went through and deleted a bunch of apps, emptied various caches and got the memory back down to 130mb of the 147mb. Now, I've had my phone on charge all afternoon, maybe 3 texts and 5 emails have come in and all of a suddenly the memory is totally full again! Most apps now force close because there's not enough memory to run them but something is obviously just filling up the memory somehow. Anybody else have this problem, or any ideas how to solve it?

Aug 6, 2010My HTC Desire no longer shuts down, I sometimes need to shut down just to help keep the phone working at its best but when I power off the spinning circle just keeps spinning saying shutting down. I have left it for a couple of hours before and its still stuck there, never used to have this problem with my phone when I first got it.I am running an Orange branded phone with Android 2.1. I really don't like this Orange 2.1, its pants and alot slower than a stock 2.1 or the new 2.2.

Jun 28, 2010What possible reason could there be for you to code your apps so that they switch on in the background when the phone is turned on and use up precious battery life?
Or, why would you code your apps to stay on after I, the user, have hit the back button because I no longer want your app to run?
I mean, REALLY! Yes, I own up to being a newbie Android user, and what I don't know could fill the Library of Congress. Still, this is common sense we're talking about here. I've done some industrial app development and Enter/Exit, On/Off are basic pieces of logic in the main loop of an program in any language.
The only reason that we phone users need task killer apps is because you developers insist on creating apps that don't know when the f**k to turn themselves off.
And, it seems to me like you, the app developers, are one of the main reason why these phones have such crappy battery life. I mean, my Samsung Instinct, as bad as it was, got 18 to 24 hours of life off of one charge. With the Hero, I'm lucky if I can get 10 hours, and that's even with configuring my email download to only three times per day!
This is not hard, people. You code the app to stay off until, I, the user, manually turn it on. AND, you also code it to turn off when I, the user, hit the back button.
Yes, I understand that there are certain apps that it is advantageous to keep running in the background. So, fine, make it so those keep running. BUT, there is no possible reason for apps like Flashlight, or BBC News, or Camera, or SprintTV to have to run all the time in the background!
I am so tempted to just trash the lot of you. If I did, maybe I might not have as much functionality, but my teenager would be able to reach me late in the day because my phone battery would still have juice.

Sep 22, 2010HTC desire users. I often charge my phone rather frequently like once it twice a day. Sometimes I charge even when the battery is only half full as I am going out. Will this spoil the battery or phone? (If I charge when the battery have not been all used up).I heard from people that it might spoil the phone if I charge in this manner frequently.

Nov 19, 2009I have tried yellow pages search app and yp.com app and both apparently need gps or location because when I search it put me in Germany and doesn't find what I need, when I go to find myself ie: location, it finds me in the last location I was or in Germany or London or omthing and again doesn't work. It is a well known fact the samsung rumor has gps issues (for now anyways) until a hopeful update fixes it. Yes I have tried the wifi trick and some other things and still no luck....its a crap shoot, you may or may not find yourself.
So until such time as the patch/update is out is there a recommended app that works like Yellow Pages Local Directory - YELLOWPAGES.COM does with no location needed, you just use a zip code or city and state.
