Samsung Moment :: Removing Battery Cover
Dec 12, 2009
So I just got my Moment last night, and I cannot figure out how to remove the SD card. EVERYTHING I have found says it's under the battery (wtf), but I can't get the battery cover off to get to it, and I can't find any instructions on how to remove the battery cover.

What are those 3 little soft-touch squares on the back of the phone that say G, R1, and R2?

Is it just me or does anyone else have trouble removing their battery cover?Sometimes it comes off really easily and sometimes it won't come off at all.I lost patience with it last week and tried to get it open with my car key and scratched it.I think the cover should have some kind of grip on it so that your finger/thumb doesn't slip when you try to open it.Now have a new cover on order from HTC,hopefully the new one might be easier to get off.

Can I do any damage by just pulling the battery while the phone is on? With the number of times I have to change the battery to keep the phone going, its just easier than going through the effort to power down.

There are some minor scratches in the window that the camera lens uses to take pictures on the battery cover. Even if I don't get all of them (some MIGHT be too deep, its hard to tell whether my fingernail catches or not in that little area), it would still be better if I could get some of them out. Any way I can do this without harming the lens even more? The scratches are on the outside of the cover, btw, not the tiny circle opening on the inside.

Even when you remove the little back rubber/plastic cover for the USB connection plug, it still stays attached to the phone and dangles. I am thinking of completely removing it from the phone. Can I do so without damaging it? Can I re-attach it if I change my mind later?

My battery cover wont close properly. The side with the camera will close, but the other side will stick out leaving a gap between the phone and the cover. Tried many ways to make it work and finally got annoyed and used tape to hold it.

Any idea where I can buy a replacement housing for my Galaxy. Works fine but an accident had left it scratched up and missing the charger port cover. So basically I want to fit a whole new shell on the thing. Screen is scratch-free, but battery cover scratched up and the bit of plastic holding the charger flap snapped so it will need a whole shell. Looked everywhere! An online Samsung repair place wants me to send it in but can't give me a price.

I've got almost everything streamlined for DE03 but I keep seeing two Apps that always reload in Advanced Task Manager:
com.samsung.internal, and
System Updates
First question, since I'm not using Sprint's version of software, do I *need* either of these?
And, if *not*...what are the names of the files, so I can rip 'em out?

Just called O2 about my Galaxy, It keeps shutting down and I cannot power up without first removing and replacing the battery, I's just over 1 month old and they deny any knowledge of this happening at all, They want me to send it for repair and have the priviledge of waiting up to 14 days to get it returned whilst I merrily pay a contract fee to them!

The left lower side of my battery cover doesn't fully snap into place, causing an annoying gap. It was never like this, but I took the cover off to remove the battery, and when I tried to put it back in, it wouldn't snap. I tried a different cover and it still didn't fit... I have no idea why it wont snap in all of a sudden. Anyone else have this? I'm on my fourth epic, If I have to go to #5 I might just say forget it and save my upgrade

I lost my battery cover (or someone stole it) from my birthday party. I cannot seem to find one online. I called HTC and they dont have one available, but maybe I got the wrong rep? I called ATT and they were no help. There is an HD Mini (somewhat of the same phone) battery cover on eBay but it doesnt have the metal connections since the battery cover of an Aria is part of the antenna. Please help me find one! Even if I have to buy an extended battery (with battery cover) so be it. I just need my phone back.

Finally got my replacement EVO yesterday was all excited until I just noticed the battery door cover does not fit tight! There is a gap along the whole right side. big enough for dirt and dust to get into the phone. The build date is 7/05/10. Also, the camera lens is not centered in the cover hole. There no red showing on the bottom of the hole and a big red gap on the top of the hole. I cannot believe HTC lets phones like this out the door! Where is the QA/QC?

Does anyone have a problem with how the battery cover fits? If I squeeze the phone on the opposite side of the volume button towards the bottom of the phone, the case squeeks and flexs inwards. Being the OCD person that I am, I am constantly sqeeking the case and I am pretty sure that I am going to break it soon. I want to take the phone in and have it replaced but would like to just have the cover replaced rather than the whole phone.

I took off the battery cover today when my phone wouldn't turn off. It was in shutdown mode for about 25 minutes, so I just pulled the battery. This is the first time I've taken the cover off. I've spent over 45 minutes trying to get the cover back on correctly. What a piece of trash! All the connectors are still there, but when I put the cover on, it not longer has a "smooth" feel, but its clunky since the top left side (near the volume key), as well as the top right side straight across. No matter what I do, those parts of the cover will NOT stay down. I've tried connecting the cover every different way, as well as pressing down on each connector after its on to see if I can find a lose spot. No luck. 45 damn minutes and I'm about to throw it across the room. Seriously, I love this phone but if something this stupid is going to happen, I may as well switch phones because this is the most frustrated I've ever been with a cell phone.

Ive had my Moment for 4 days now. I went through all the posts and nothing seems to help. I charged my battery for 16 hours and it died within 30min. and not just the low battery warning the phone shut off. Ive tried the car charger pluggin it into my computer and the wall charger and the longest it has lasted is 1 hour. havnt really downloaded anything other than a task killer to see if that helped. Bad battery?

So far, I'm loving this phone, despite the glitches that it suffers from.
In an attempt to get the battery conditioned, I ran the phone all the way down yesterday, powered it off, and charged it overnight.
One thing I noticed is that when the phone got down under 15%, there were a handful of times that the interface would freeze briefly for a few seconds, and then the phone would reboot itself.
Eventually, I ran it down the the point where, after it rebooted, it would tell me that the battery was too low and that it was shutting off.
I would expect that if the phone were shutting down because of a low battery, it would prompt me somehow to let me know, instead of just rebooting.
Has anyone else noticed this same behavior? I've only had the phone for a few days, but so far, it's only done the reboot thing when the battery was under 15%.
