This may be a simple one to answer, hopefully it is. When I recieve an SMS on my desire I get the notification sound, but I see nothing on the screen until I wake up the screen by pressing the power button. If you do not hear the notification you have to check for messages, I have found sms on the phone that have between there for a few hours before i noticed.
Is there a setting to help with this?

Notification LED being able to display more than the green and orange mine has only ever displayed. I was wondering if someone can confirm that the Desire has a multicolour LED and if so, how can I get the other colours to display?

View 4 Replies View Relatedthe "messages" icon on the home screen is a sort of envelope speech bubble looking yoke when there are new sms text messages you get a small green circle over this icon with the number of unread messages in it. how do you clear this?
I hit the icon and get a screen of my text messages none are highlighted in bold to say what's unread AND even after opening them all and going back to the home screen the damn green circle is still there. after a while it goes again?any ideas?
I have got a mediatek powered phablet and I miss the wireless display settings. So i decided to look over the settings.apk and saw the following line in xml/display_settings.xml:

But there is no wifi_display setting..
Is there a method to activate the desired option? Maybe it is only hidden and I have to unhide it.. I installed an app to show the wfd dialog, works fine. But I want the android settings way to do this..
I have my own custom Content Provider that loads a database which contains the settings information for my application.
I load the settings from the ContentProvider on the creation of my Settings activity.
My Settings activity is made up of a PreferenceScreen and Dialog based EditText's.
The following code shows how I use the preference screen and edit texts.
So as you can see from the first image this works and displays the menu with the information underneath.
The problem is in image two, when I click on a choice in the menu the dialog pops up but it is empty, I would like to be able to load the data from my content provider into the edit text in the dialog, so in image one it shows "Donal" as the user name so in image two "Donal" should also appear in the edit text in the dialog.
I would also like to be able to listen to the OK button in the dialog so when a user changes a setting I can update the data in my content provider.

For example, I tried updating my Tmobile G2's ROM from Gingerbread to ICS , then to Jellybean and after hours of tinkering with the display settings my eyes were still hurting. When I gave up and went back to Gingerbread, then my eyes were fine looking at the screen.
My question is: what exactly changed in the display settings in the newer version of the Android oS? Also How can I use an OS like Jellybean or ICS, but make the screen display with the brightness that was available via Gingerbread?I did try the ADW Gignerbread theme, but that mainly changes the look and feel of the icons, not the display
I have 70 tablets and i'm trying to set up a quickway to make them all the same, i have most of it sorted. All i need now is to set sleep display time to 10 mins and change the wallpaper to company logod one.
So far my approach has been, set one up how i want it, use adb to copy files to computer, connect next tablet and push those settings.
1/ where is the sleep timer setting stored?
2/ how do i set a wallpaper using adb?
... like "Swype settings" in this picture. Been searching for hours on how to do this. Going to go insane.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a situation where I have a broadcast receiver which creates a notification and the notification, when selected, sends the application to a new Activity with a yes/no AlertDialog. I have two questions:
1. Is it possible to show an AlertDialog (from the notification) without sending the user to a new Activity? (This way the user can click No and resume working in any other application)
2. A ListActivity already exists in this application. If the user clicks yes the user should be send to this existing Activity. Currently I'm dong this from a new activity in the application using: startActivity(new Intent(this,MSPMain.class)); I believe this is making a new instance of the Activity rather than simply showing the existing Activity. Is there a way to show the existing Activity without making starting a new one?
I like to set my phone to vibrate so incoming calls will vibrate, but then like to configure so that incoming emails and texts do not vibrate. My gmail does this correctly but any text app I use (currently hello sms) will vibrate even though I uncheck the box for that in settings. I'm using a Nexus 5 and 4.4.2 based rom. Is there a fix for this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo when I get texts, gmail, completed app downloads, etc I get notification icons at the top as usual. When I slide the notification bar down to reveal the nofications and click on an item, the notification screen doesn't hide back to the top of my phone -- it just stays open. I either have to hide it manually or I have to hit the back button, which sometimes exits the app I was trying to open. 2.1 never did this for me, it always hid when choosing an item. Anyone have a solution to this? I've done a factory reset after 2.2 btw. I've also searched support to see if there was a similar problem, no similar threads.

The date is not displayed in the notification bar of my Samsung Moment, only the time, connection, and notifications. Does anyone know how to change this so that the notification bar displays the month, day, and day of the week?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been rooted for about two weeks now. Originally, I was using the kaosfroyo rom v34, just now I changed to the nonsensikal vanilla 5.4. With both roms I'm getting the same error. It will download an app with no problem. However, as the app is installing, the notification bar will display a message that it was not successfully installed.It did it first with the kaos rom; I switched to nonsensikal thinking it would help, but no such luck. Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?

It seems that I can either have absolutely no notification of a new text message or I can have this major intrusion of privacy by having the message displayed for all to see. I hand my phone to people constantly to use at my job sites. I trust they are not fishing around in my phone, but when it just shows up on the screen, how can they help but read it. I noticed that when you receive a new gtalk or new text message that it shows a quick preview of that messages in the notification bar at the top of the screen. I found that I was only able to set it as the alert for one of my email accounts. If I try to set it up for the other one, it won't take. Like it's only allowed to be used for one or something.
