I gave up on waiting for my telco provider to upgrade me to froyo OTA, I decided to root my phone and I've put T-Mod 2.2a rom on it.I also installed the 'undervolt' patch.My phone's battery was lasting me about 2 days before, but now it lasts roughly half as long.

Turned off live wallpaper and battery lasts twice as long period. I still have Beautiful Home Weather but the live background is now off and I can get through two days on one charge. I know this is not rocket science but question yourself if you need a live wallpaper or better, much better, battery life.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI bought a HTC Desire on a week ago and love it. Only problem is tat the battery is dire. I found it lasts for about 4 hours then it's dead. I am not running any apps or Wi-Fi, GPS, syncing etc. I initialy put id down to me playing with the phone constantly for the 1st couple of days. However by the fith day the battery was still dying in 5 hours or sooner. I took the phone back suspecting a faulty handset or battery. Got a new phone and battery. Still have the same very poor 4 or 5 hour battery life. I have loaded 'Battery Graph' app and you can see there is almost a straight line going down losing 20% of power every hour!!!! This is even overnight when it's doing absolutely nothing. I have also loaded Advanced Task Killer and go tthat shutting down any errant apps every 30mins. Still no improvement in battery life. Any ideas what may be causing this? Neither of the batteries I have had have hologram stickers on them like my old Nokia did. Should the official batteries have hologram stickers?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI used my Hero this morning/afternoon with music, wi-fi, internet browsing, and I used up the first half of the battery. And after that, I have been mostly studying and not using my phone... but the second half of the batter drains, it seems like, FASTER than the first half did! No music playing, no wi-fi, no internet browsing? Is this normal? Is it just the nature of these batteries?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHad the phone for around 10 days now and thankfully I am starting to get more and more use out of it, especially after tweaking some settings and what not, and over the past 2 days I am closing in on getting 24 hours from one charge with what I consider fairly heavy use (well heavier than what I used my old Pixon and that needed charged daily). The one thing that is bugging me though is this, I put the phone on charge before I go to bed, I wake up and it is around 90% (give or take a few %). Now I realize that the phones doesn't trickle charge but when I check the drain on juiceplotter, at the same time every morning, it drains.
5am-5:30am it goes down 10% or so, with out fail. It loses the charge in around about half an hour, meaning when I get up in the morning I need to pop it back on charge for a bit to get it back up to 100%. Not a huge hassle but it is irking me somewhat now. When I check programs running etc, there is nothing untoward on the go that isn't on during the day. I half though the phone was not sleeping during this time but after 5:30 the drain stops and it goes back to normal.
With heavy usage, is this normal? I've heard some peoples battery can last up to 2 days...do you just not use the phone or what?
View 15 Replies View RelatedAfter dealing with short battery life like many of you, sometimes only getting 4 hours after a full nights charging and the phone just sitting on my desk,i figured out how to make it go the full day, even with regular use of web and email/sms. For me, it was simply reducing the frequency of syncs between all the various social networks I'm part of. My setting used to be every hour for Facebook, Twitter, and the worst culprit, Flickr. i would notice the phone constantly getting warm to the touch even if it just laid on the desk. Since changing the frequency to manual refresh, my battery is still well over 60% by nights end. YMMV.

I put it in the car dock to and from the Mann center last night, took some pics and played lightly online. forgot to plug it in before I went to bed last night, and now at 11am, im @ 15%.Do i have a battery drain app on here or something? Maybe it was my GPS? just noticed i forgot to turn that off after exiting the car?

I was getting 2 hours "Heavy" (texting,data,wifi,high brightness) use before.I read somewhere that there it is a battery issue caused by the defaul HTC (or android, idk) application.The work around is for sms to something other than the included app as the default action for text messaging. This is accomplished installing another handcent sms or various other apps that you may find by going to the market and searching SMS.After installation go to the contacts list and send a text to a contact.A screen should pop up and ask which messaging app you would like to use. If i does not ask you, then you should go to Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> It will take a minute while your phone computes the space taken up by each app.Click Messages> and Tick Clear defaults if it is available. Viola! substantial battery boost and faster charges.you can verify that your phone is now using less power by rebooting then shut of your screen by pressing the end key wait for 1-5 mins mins without touching it now quickly settings> about phone> status all the way at the bottom your phones "Awake Time" (not up time) should be below %40 (mine is between 10-40%) day to day if this is not the case your phone has other issues and I will try my best to help you out
I have also heard that by letting you device go to sleep immidiately after turning it on it enters a weird device state that causes %100 cpu usage. though i cannot confirm this i always flip to the next screen and back a few times and check my twitter and what not to make sure.
I've a Galaxy and I installed the rom GalaxHero, but last few days my Galaxy uses a lot of battery. Turn On the phone at 13 o'clock, still in standby, at 21 o'clock the battery was at 55%. That is completely abnormal. I've installed the application "spare parts" and I see that in "Battery History" - "Other usage" it reported running 97%. So I Installed another program, "Drain-O-Meter", this brings me to the process "System_Server" which uses the CPU to 100%. The battery lasts me very little, maximum 24 hours in complete standby. Before we even did about 70 hours!
View 16 Replies View RelatedI received my Desire on Saturday, I'm not very happy with the battery performance at all so far. All automatic updates are off and 3G/Wifi disabled. Yesterday I unplugged it at 0630 (at 100% battery), and despite very little use it was totally drained by 4pm. Today I haven't used it at all (as a test) and it looks like it's only going to be fractionally better. When I check the Battery stats for today 'Cell Standby' is at 74% and 'Phone idle' is at 18%. My question is, 3 days into ownership is this poor performance normal or do you think there's a problem with the battery?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI manually installed the FRG01B update yesterday. And since doing so, I have noticed a ridiculously steep drop in battery life. Do I need to be running FRG22? Is that available to download manually, if so? I also know that I don't have the version of Facebook that was causing battery drainage. ATK didn't seem to help at all (it might have even made it worse). Is there anything I can do to vastly improve battery life? It would be great if I could get the phone's battery to last at least 24 hours. I already uninstalled ATK, by the way.
View 15 Replies View RelatedWith a free sunday at my disposal, i thought i would try and sort my hero out as it has become super-laggy after the OTA 2.1 update (HTC hero locked to 3UK network, previously had 1.5).
So i've been trying to read as much as i can on this and other forums and got as far as installing Universal Androot, which reported success in rooting the phone.
However have now installed (and bought PRO ver) of Titanium Backup which refuses to recognize the root. It returns:
ERROR: Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again.
Yet, TB is listed as 'allowed' under SuperUser Permissions. And even weirder when the error dialogue box comes up sometimes a strapline flashes briefly across the screen 'Titanium backup has been granted .. permissions'. I take it that this is Superuser informing me.
So why doesn't Titanium recognize the root? Have tried re-starting and rerunning Androot (which reports that phone is already rooted, do you still wish to proceed). It's almost as if superuser isn't giving the OK fast enough or something.
Obviously don't want to start messing around with ROMs if i can't first backup my data!

I suspect many of you are like me and monkey with your phones so damned much that sometimes it's hard to pinpoint what changes we've made to which changes we've noticed. I've been running UD 9.0 ever since it came out. I've had great battery life with SetCPU profiles set from 250MHz to 1Ghz unless the battery goes below 30%, in which case it goes down to a max of 550MHz with a low still at 250MHz. The only thing I've changed recently is downloads of app updates, (...including SetCPU, btw). The other day my home WiFi crapped out, so I used a tether app and played around online with my laptop using my phone. I had never done it for so long before, but inside of about three hours, my battery was at 20%, when usually at that time of day, it's at hour 13 from last charge, and at about 40%. Now my battery is not lasting a whole 14 hours, where it used to go from 5 AM to 10 PM before it gave me the "15% juice left" heads up. I don't know if it's because of a bad SetCPU update, or a wifi tether app problem, or what.

I can definately send/recieve calls and sms, BUT i cannot connect to the net for browsing unless im at home in my wifi area... i dont get it.. its like the device is a half locked phone, calls/sms -ok, internet-no only to telstra >>
I have a vodafone [prepaid sim] and i was able to browse and recieve emails and so on with my nokia e63 on prepaid with no issue whatsoever. This is my first android phone and im feeling a little lost/stumped with it and taken advantage of with half truths from the salesman at JB HIFI. Im sure they would know about this, i did make it clear and stress out it is a non telstra sim and that its prepaid.
I was installing an apk from the web (fennec) but I ran out of memory half way and now it has taken up all but 3mb of my internal memory! I can't uninstall it normal because its not really installed!

If I use the hide status bar option I get an empty Black bar at the top and half the icons are pushed down at The bottom of the screen. Not all the time just now and again. The icons stil function ......I know its probably linked to an app I'm running But I can't find which one after many deletes and Reinstalls.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just come to notice a problem with my desire, which I believe to be fairly long standing.For quite a long time I've been thinking that scrolling down lists/webpages/in apps etc has been quite stuttery, the wierd thing being that if you flick the list/page/whatever and let go (ie let the momentum take it) it's a lot smoother. I noticed today that when I'm scrolling with my finger on the top half of the screen it's actually really smooth, but as soon as my finger reaches the halfway point on the screen it starts to stutter. The stuttering isn't random, it seems like there's a grid of sensitivity on the screen, so it only catches up every 5mm or so (it feels like there's about 15 points of sensitivity horizontally on the screen).To test it I first downloaded the multitouch test app (as it purely reads from the driver where the touches are being detected and displays it on the screen). It still happened. I then downloaded a free drawing app, which seems to accentuate the problem, as when my finger reaches the midpoint of the screen it stops drawing altogether!I imagine it's probably a hardware problem as it's been happening for ages (only just recognised though) and during that time I've installed a debranded rom and then updated to froyo.Has anyone else noticed anything similar? I'll try and get a video on youtube to show the problem at some point. Any advice of things to try or should i just call T-Mobile support?

This never happened until recently but is now quite a regular thing. In order to put it into stand by i have to press the button several times before it decides to do what I'm telling it to.

Got a desire last night which was unlocked and rooted, got home and was getting an error about com.android.mms has stopped working so did a factory reset, not solved the problem but now have another one. Will the factory reset have unrooted my phone as cant work out how to install apps to my sd card, downloaded ES file explorer which does let me explore my phone but shows half directories as empty.
