So since 2.2 there has been a lot of different things that have changed i got the phone right when it came to 2.2 but my friend said that his phone is very slow running 2.2 and the obv battery life is half day now so why is this.

I suspect many of you are like me and monkey with your phones so damned much that sometimes it's hard to pinpoint what changes we've made to which changes we've noticed. I've been running UD 9.0 ever since it came out. I've had great battery life with SetCPU profiles set from 250MHz to 1Ghz unless the battery goes below 30%, in which case it goes down to a max of 550MHz with a low still at 250MHz. The only thing I've changed recently is downloads of app updates, (...including SetCPU, btw). The other day my home WiFi crapped out, so I used a tether app and played around online with my laptop using my phone. I had never done it for so long before, but inside of about three hours, my battery was at 20%, when usually at that time of day, it's at hour 13 from last charge, and at about 40%. Now my battery is not lasting a whole 14 hours, where it used to go from 5 AM to 10 PM before it gave me the "15% juice left" heads up. I don't know if it's because of a bad SetCPU update, or a wifi tether app problem, or what.

And after that, I have been mostly studying and not using my phone... but the second half of the batter drains, it seems like, FASTER than the first half did! No music playing, no wi-fi, no internet browsing? Is this normal? Is it just the nature of these batteries?

After the 2.2 update, my battery has been starting to be extremely bad. I recharged it yesterday until it was 100% charged. Now, 18 hours later, the battery is at 15%.
I only used my HTC Desire to do this:
1. Listening to offline songs through Wimp, a Spotify-clone, for about an hour.
2. Texting 3-4 sms.
3. Doing 1 call.
4. Having it on while I was asleep.
My battery was usually lasting 3-4 days with this kind of use, but now it's so bad.

I have tried several different Froyo Roms over the past very weeks. I still can't get any good battery life out of them compaired to running EE3.0. Yet everyone tells me they get better battery life while running Froyo. My phone has currently been unplugged for 9hrs 13 mins. It has a total of 50 mins talk time and I have sent 30+ text messages. My battery level is @ %73 running EE3.0
I can't get a total of 11hrs out of my phone when running any of the Froyo Roms. Ive tried running several different settings on SetCPU but nothing noticable. Only thing I notice is that when running Froyo the largest use of my battery is my Display. Yet when running EE3.0 the largest use is Cell Standby and Display is the lowest. But I have tried turning the brightness almost all the way down on the Froyo ROM but it doesn't make any difference.
Just got a Droid 2 and I'm tinkering around. I saw the "Running Apps" list and its pretty useful if I say so myself. However is it necessary to go in there and stop apps that I'm not using all the time to save battery life? Do apps still run after their closed, because Facebook was running after use. And when stopping apps my phone tells me that "this can have undesired consequences on the app" which scared me a bit. I haven't even done my first charge yet, but my battery went down about 40% in about 2 and a half hours.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using HTC Desire S for about 2 yrs now, but since I am not a power user, I just use it as it came. Now considering to root it and was looking more closely at things and I see there are many services running in the background under "Running".
I don't know the inner workings of Android system, so would like to know if more services are running (especially from apps which I don't regularly use) then does it effect battery life and does it make the phone slower ?
For example under Calendar, 4 services are running - AutoSettingService, ImmediateModeService, DashboardService,ConnecttoPcService.
Google Maps has TrafficAppWidgetUpdateService and PrefetcherService ( I rarely use Google maps because I use offline rmaps)
Another thing is I have a prepaid connection without a data plan so I would like to control which apps connect to the net when i switch on 3G - i mean I would prefer if only the app which I want to use the data should use it, while others should not.
And there are some things taking data, which i don't really understand - but since they are related to Android system I am not sure whether to try to restrict them (Android System, HTC Function test, HTC Checkin service, Settings storage, VPN, Status bar, Bluetooth, Google backpp transport, etc, Phone, Dialer Storage, SIM toolkit)
Any general idea about these services - battery and network usage and effect on responsiveness ?

The android will flash white on screen, but wont let me proceed with setting up the phone. I wiped and flashed again, and it's doing the same thing. Anyone know the cause of this? So to get me through today i re-flashed Froyo v30 and its running slow as hell, the browser moves incredibly slow and the menus are leggy too. I've flashed it before and had a great experience so i was just wondering if anybody knew what was going on.

When i have the swype app running then my phone is very slow, meaning when i just hit the home bottom takes five seconds to get there with all icons showing. But the life is terrible, i have everything off, no brightness, timeout to 30s, all the wifi/bluetooth/etc is off. Yet after about an hour of takign it off a full charge it drops to 70%, i can barely make it 4-5 hours in a day when its not even being used! Seeing that i want to upgrade anyway, so i can get the newer operating systems and better phone hardware, what phones right now have the best battery operating life? I hardly use the phone for its data features. I basically use the phone as a phone,a decent amount of txt messaging, ill use wifi here and there, and ill manually sync some calendar items. Im on T-mobile, whatre youre phone suggestions? Im trying to keep them at $300 or lower.

I am using taskiller to kill any not needed background apps and normally have over 120mb left in RAM. Any tips on what I can do to fix this? I'm trying to hold off rooting until I get the t-mobile update. Also, does the phone normally give inaccurate battery readings to the widgets? View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had this phone for a little over 4 days now and it is by far the best smart phone on battery life that I have ever owned. Yesterday was the best day yet, I pulled the phone off the charger at 7am yesterday and forgot to put it back on the charger before I crashed out last night. This morn I was woken up to its alarm clock, got ready, headed out to work and the last 20% warning ding'd at 6:45 this morning. My use through out the day consisted of a few short phone calls, the wifi was on all day, I played an hours worth of home run derby, I watched a few you tube videos, surfed a little net, and I have all my accounts synced up to the Motorola widgets (facebook, myspace, yahoo, hotmail, google, and twitter). I also have a live wallpaper running, lots of widgets on my home screens, and I am running the automatic battery profile ( default factory setting). Oh and my phone service is not that great at my house. In the end I my battery never hit the "red" and was a little over 24 hours of battery life before I put it on the charger. I have read threads about poor battery performance and I cant imagine why my battery performance is so good, and with such a huge screen. With that amount of use, I would only get about 12 hours of battery life from my Droid 1.

like many of you I updated to 2.0.1 with promises of better battery life. After one full day of use I can see now that my battery life isn't improved as much as the phone allocates battery usage stats to different areas other than display. Yesterday my battery actually died BEFORE it usually does (this is post update mind you) and the usage stats told me that I used it mostly on Phone signal (keeping my phone service active when im in the subway). So it said to turn off the phone signal when you're in an area that can't get a signal to save battery life. Well..sounds like a plan, right? What about for those of us that use a bluetooth headset for music? I can't turn off my phone service without also turning off my bluetooth via "Airplane Mode." Does anyone know of a way to turn one off without the other. My motorola Q could do it...please tell me my big bad droid can do it too...

Just wondering if underclocking my Incredible will save battery life during the day-I can't use my phone much at work-maybe when I go somewhere to pee or grab something to eat-that is about it. I wouldn't care about speed during the day..say if I underclock it to like 400 MHZ, would that save a lot of battery life? I would set it to normal once I was done with work.

Since I purchased my evo I have been running sense and just recently disabled it from running by default and set it to run the original home by default. I have seen a little bit of battery improvement but not enough to come to any good conclusion just yet. To me sense makes the phone a lot better mostly because of the widgets so I'll end up switching it back after a while but I was just curious to see if there would be any major difference as far as battery life goes.
