So a few days ago I went to download a few apps. None of them seemed to want to download and I was pretty annoyed about this for about 2 days. Suddenly the Market seemed to work again, and I got 5 or 6 notifications of successfully installed apps. Winner
Unfortunately, there's one that seems not to have downloaded: "Street View On Google Maps". It thinks it's downloaded, but it's not there. If I go to delete apps on my phone, I can't see it. If I go to place an app or a widget on my home page, I can't see it. However, if I find it in the market, it says it's installed. And if I tap it in the market, both the "Open" and "Uninstall" buttons are greyed out. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here and how I can fix it? If it makes any difference, I'm on a HTC Desire HD.

I'm trying to create a drawable in xml, a rectangle with one gradient on the top half, and another on the bottom half.
This is NOT the way to do it, apparently:
CODE:................
How can I do this, preferably in a way that makes it stretchable to any height?

I used my Hero this morning/afternoon with music, wi-fi, internet browsing, and I used up the first half of the battery. And after that, I have been mostly studying and not using my phone... but the second half of the batter drains, it seems like, FASTER than the first half did! No music playing, no wi-fi, no internet browsing? Is this normal? Is it just the nature of these batteries?

I have just purchased a telstra branded HTC desire [outright] 2 days ago from JB HIFI, the salesman said its unlocked and i assumed its all good.
I can definately send/recieve calls and sms, BUT i cannot connect to the net for browsing unless im at home in my wifi area... i dont get it.. its like the device is a half locked phone, calls/sms -ok, internet-no only to telstra >>
I have a vodafone [prepaid sim] and i was able to browse and recieve emails and so on with my nokia e63 on prepaid with no issue whatsoever. This is my first android phone and im feeling a little lost/stumped with it and taken advantage of with half truths from the salesman at JB HIFI. Im sure they would know about this, i did make it clear and stress out it is a non telstra sim and that its prepaid.

So I received my new Inc today since my original one had some dust under the screen. Anyhow, I installed a bunch of free apps on my original Inc but I can't seem to find out how to get those back. Is it just paid apps that you can retrieve?

I've just come to notice a problem with my desire, which I believe to be fairly long standing. For quite a long time I've been thinking that scrolling down lists/webpages/in apps etc has been quite stuttery, the wierd thing being that if you flick the list/page/whatever and let go (ie let the momentum take it) it's a lot smoother. I noticed today that when I'm scrolling with my finger on the top half of the screen it's actually really smooth, but as soon as my finger reaches the halfway point on the screen it starts to stutter. The stuttering isn't random, it seems like there's a grid of sensitivity on the screen, so it only catches up every 5mm or so (it feels like there's about 15 points of sensitivity horizontally on the screen). To test it I first downloaded the multitouch test app (as it purely reads from the driver where the touches are being detected and displays it on the screen). It still happened. I then downloaded a free drawing app, which seems to accentuate the problem, as when my finger reaches the midpoint of the screen it stops drawing altogether!I imagine it's probably a hardware problem as it's been happening for ages (only just recognised though) and during that time I've installed a debranded rom and then updated to froyo.Has anyone else noticed anything similar? I'll try and get a video on youtube to show the problem at some point. Any advice of things to try or should i just call T-Mobile support?

With increasing frequency, pressing the power button on my HTC desire running Froyo only dims the screen, it doesnt put it into standby. This never happened until recently but is now quite a regular thing. In order to put it into stand by i have to press the button several times before it decides to do what I'm telling it to.

Had the phone for around 10 days now and thankfully I am starting to get more and more use out of it, especially after tweaking some settings and what not, and over the past 2 days I am closing in on getting 24 hours from one charge with what I consider fairly heavy use (well heavier than what I used my old Pixon and that needed charged daily). The one thing that is bugging me though is this, I put the phone on charge before I go to bed, I wake up and it is around 90% (give or take a few %). Now I realize that the phones doesn't trickle charge but when I check the drain on juiceplotter, at the same time every morning, it drains.
5am-5:30am it goes down 10% or so, with out fail. It loses the charge in around about half an hour, meaning when I get up in the morning I need to pop it back on charge for a bit to get it back up to 100%. Not a huge hassle but it is irking me somewhat now. When I check programs running etc, there is nothing untoward on the go that isn't on during the day. I half though the phone was not sleeping during this time but after 5:30 the drain stops and it goes back to normal.

Anyone ever had this happen? Downloaded an update after the 2.1 upgrade and I sync'd my contacts with FB. It then deleted all of my contacts. So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing. However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself. Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

This isn't a /major/ problem but it will irritate me if I can't find a solution! How can I get rid of all the game demos that Orange have so thoughtfully installed on my Desire? I've had a look in Settings > Applications but the Uninstall option for these doesn't show up.

If it is possible to have root on my current Desire ROM (T-Mobile branded 2.1 update1, Build 1.21.110.4 CL175581 release keys, bootloader 0.80) without having to wipe the phone and install another ROM?
The reason that I ask is that I have read a few reviews about Titanium Backup as that would back up all apps and settings and make my life a lot easier if I decide to debrand and install the stock 2.2 ROM as everything can be reinstalled in a 1 click process. Its the data (email accounts in k9 mail etc) that I am ideally needing saved as those are a pain in the arse to setup again. If root on the current rom cannot be done is there any other app that would save my data as I can save the apks using Astro.

I used the 'force all apps to move to SD' method on Froyo on my HTC Desire and for a good while all was working really well. I was happy with the space I was saving.Today I used a backup tool from Navigon, Fresh, to backup my Satnav purchase. During this time my Desire rebooted itself while connected to my laptop via USB.When the phone came back I found that ALL my apps currently installed to the SD card are now no longer available in my menu and when I go to manage Apps I can see them but they are greyed out with a little SD in the corner of their icons.I can't move them back to the phone and Market appears to think that they are no longer installed. However I can see them in my manage Apps area.So physically they are still on my SD card, they are still showing in the manage Apps menu (but greyed out) and they are still taking space up. I just can't start them or move them.

I installed the zip that created by UOT kitchen, using recovery. Now After entering PIN it reboots. If I leave it as it is without entering my PIN it popups messages for broken apps that failed to start.I decided to do the wipe user data (panic) from recovery console, but now after reboot I can only see the flashing word ANDROID on a black background.I was using the OTA stock rom but rooted with unrevoked 3.21. I used the framework apk from /system/ at UOT kitchen.

I am having trouble installing a CA certificate on my Desire which I need to get access to my company's IPSec VPN.I understand the proper way to do this is to pack user certificate, user key and CA certificate into a single PKCS12 file, put it on the SD card and use the built-in certificate installation tool to unpack and install the certificates.I have my user cert and key packed into a single PEM file and the CA in a separate CRT file. However, when installing the p12 file on the Desire from the SD card, it only installs the user cert and key, ignoring the CA certificate. Thus, I can't set up an IPSec VPN.I also tried putting the CA crt file on a web site and installing it using the browser, but the browser thinks is is a user certificate rather than a CA cert and installs it as such. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Did anyone even manage to get this to work? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I already mailed HTC support a few days ago, but didn't get an answer do far.

I have a 16GB card I want to use to replace the included card, and am curious to know if any fancy preparation is needed. Can I just copy over the original's folder structure and contents and start using the extra space, or is something else necessary to avoid having strange things happening with my installed apps?

How to Install/Upgrade Android 2.2 Froyo on HTC Desire | Pathik Shah
Specifically:
How to Install Android 2.2 Froyo on HTC Desire
How to Upgrade HTC Desire to Android 2.2 Froyo
To install Android 2.2 Froyo on your HTC Desire, you can either use the official OTA update or a custom Froyo ROM.
Official Android 2.2 Froyo ROM Install (Recommended)
Download the official Android 2.2 Froyo HTC Desire ROM from HTC
Rename it to update.zip and copy it to your SD card via USB.
Switch off your phone and while holding the Volume Down button, power it back on.
Enter the recovery mode and press the Power button and the Volume Up button.
Select Apply sdcard:update.zip
Your Android 2.2 install should soon be complete and you can reboot your HTC Desire.
My question is...has anyone tried this? If so, has it worked? Do the gurus think this can work? PLEASE let me know...as I'd like to upgrade my phone using this if its safe!
