Turned off live wallpaper and battery lasts twice as long period. I still have Beautiful Home Weather but the live background is now off and I can get through two days on one charge. I know this is not rocket science but question yourself if you need a live wallpaper or better, much better, battery life.

I gave up on waiting for my telco provider to upgrade me to froyo OTA, I decided to root my phone and I've put T-Mod 2.2a rom on it.I also installed the 'undervolt' patch.My phone's battery was lasting me about 2 days before, but now it lasts roughly half as long.

I put it in the car dock to and from the Mann center last night, took some pics and played lightly online. forgot to plug it in before I went to bed last night, and now at 11am, im @ 15%.Do i have a battery drain app on here or something? Maybe it was my GPS? just noticed i forgot to turn that off after exiting the car?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI manually installed the FRG01B update yesterday. And since doing so, I have noticed a ridiculously steep drop in battery life. Do I need to be running FRG22? Is that available to download manually, if so? I also know that I don't have the version of Facebook that was causing battery drainage. ATK didn't seem to help at all (it might have even made it worse). Is there anything I can do to vastly improve battery life? It would be great if I could get the phone's battery to last at least 24 hours. I already uninstalled ATK, by the way.

View 6 Replies View RelatedFirst off, I purposely killed my battery. I bought the phone and that night (June 5th) I charged it to 100%. I have since let it dwindle with periodic use and only marginal charging from when I copy files to the SD card via USB.
So it finally dwindled down to 20% today and I decided to kill it. I busted out android-wifi-tether and played YouTube and refreshed web pages from my iPhone on its wifi hotspot, and in no time got it down to 5%. I kept playing with it and finally it died. w00t! Mission accomplished!
So I plugged it in and began charging it. I waited about 10 mins and then powered it on. It booted up and immediately I noticed the carbon wallpaper. No more live wallpaper. I set live wallpaper and it works but I wonder why it showed me what looks like a carbon wallpaper (a bunch of gray pixels tiled all over). I wonder if Android disabled live wallpapers in a fleeting attempt to conserve battery. Any ideas?
BTW, I'm still VERY pleased with the battery and in about 45 minutes of USB (not wall) charging and idling it's already up to 20%! That's pretty quick! More info: Another 50 mins another 20% charge. So I think it charges ~20% every ~60 mins it seems. So I guess 10% every 30 mins or so.

This is a live wallpaper so battery life could be affected but I have had no problems. I just could not help but share this as it is pretty cool watching fish swimming around in the background while using your Evo.

Is there any good live wallpapers in the market that don't use a lot of power? I downloaded "shake them all" live wallpaper from the market but it runs like 50% battery usage, where the stock ones use like 5-12%.

View 15 Replies View RelatedMy Droid showed 100% battery charge last night when I powered it off. When I turned it on this morning it showed 70%. What gives? Is this phone running all the time, even when it appears to be powered off? I recently learned that applications running on Android can implement what is called a "partial wakelock" which prevents the CPU from going to sleep.
Apparently it was discovered earlier that the built-in messaging app on the Sprint HTC Hero did this, resulting in a battery drain issue. With this in mind, I decided to do a factory reset (removing all apps and system settings). Then I repeated my overnight, power off battery drain test with no third party apps installed. Sure enough, after 8 hours I was still at 100% charge. I have not yet reinstalled any apps so I can't identify the culprit.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just picked up the Droid X yesterday and so far love the phone. I had the Incredible a few months ago but had to return it due to some camera hardware issues. Anyways, my phone came with Android 2.1. I upgraded to 2.2 after charging my phone. Now:
1) Whenever I turn off WiFi, within 1 hr my phone will keep telling me it detects WiFi networks, I'll go back in control panel and sure enough WiFi has some how turned itself back on.
2)My battery usage icon, when I click on the battery to get a breakdown of what's using power it 'force closes' every time.
A few days ago I updated to 2.1 . And the phone works great. Now the thing is that yesterday I noticed the battery was draining a little bit faster than usual, I had been using the Particle Storm Live Wallpaper, so I thought that was the reason. What was my surprise when I changed to an static wallpaper and noticed the battery kept going down really fast. I checked the battery usage and it said that Wifi was draining 33%, Screen 20 something and the live wallpaper only 3 %. Is it normal for Wifi to drain so much battery? Does it depend on the use or what? Shouldn't 3g drain more battery than Wifi?
