i dont think u can set up new folders on the htc desire its self so i plugged it into my laptop and chose 'disk drive' on the phone. when i go into 'DCIM' ans '100 Media' i add a new folder but it doesnt appear on the phone.

But I notice everytime I drag and add an app inside the folder there is no way (at least that I can find) to move them around in the order I would like them to be in. Theres no way to drag them around and organize them without taking them out completely then re adding them in order. Am I doing something wrong? Is this possible? If not with stock folders is there an app that lets me do this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just been doing a bit of exploring via Astro and have noticed that my photos are stored in a folder titled DCIM.Inside this folder there are a few folders and loose files.thumbnails - contains a few files but I have no idea what they are.There are 13 random photos (not in their own folder) which were in the gallery when I received the phone.An empty Camera folder - what is this for? 100 Media - A folder with all the pictures I have taken.Could somebody clarify what the .thumbnails folder and Camera folder are for? is there a way to sort my SMS messages into folders? i have looked but cannot seem to do it.
even my old samsung flip phone had this option. it's just useful to be able to put messages i want to keep into a separate folder rather than having to keep it in my inbox and lock it.
I connected my phone to my computer through disk drive so that I could manage the Gallery. I found my Gallery in the DCIM folder and created three new folders within that folder.
However, if I go to the Gallery on my Desire Z, all my pictures are still lumped into one main folder. A friend of mine, who also has the Z said that his pictures are not in the DCIM folder, but somewhere else on his SD card.
Am I doing something wrong, did I create folders in the wrond location or is something else going on here? It should be possible to have several seperate folders in your gallery, right?
I've made a folder called Photos in the root of the SD card. So now when I go into Photos I see a folder called ' Camera Shots' and all the folders in the 'Photo' folders. But I also see other folders on the card. For example my MP3 folders have album art in them - which also shows in Photos. How do I exclude Photos from showing certain folders?

Today, I had some spare time so I tried to download an attachment. It downloaded fine but when I went to view it, I received a pop-up box to save it to the sd card. After pressing ok, I was told the save was successful but now I can't find it. Aside from pics and videos, how do I access other folders with saved data?

How do you rename the folder? Because I'd like to call it texts and set one up for calls. But when I create another folder, it is again called "folder". So you can't differentiate between the two.

Honestly, great web browsing is the biggest selling point for android, and no decent browser apart from opera supports that basic function (sadly, safari has it licked, bookmark manager on the iPhone is great). I've tried some market apps, but they either don't recognize bookmarks from dolphin or just plain suck.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, my inbox for my IMAP connection to the office email decided to empty itself on my Desire (2.1).An email arrived and I opened the inbox (not the email) and my inbox was empty.I have just popped in to the office (day off - typical!) and all my email is still there so it's not a total loss, just a little confusing since everything was working sweetly.The email server is based on an OS X 10.6.4 server in the office (not that this should have anything to do with it really).I've been through checking the settings and they're all OK. Only thing I haven't tried is removing the account and putting it back on. Might give that a try later on.

When I create a new folder, and move the images, they are no longer found (and not compiled into the R.java file). As far as I can figure, Android allows you to group phone contacts but there is no option for grouping Google contacts, which most of my contacts are. I also have facebook on my droid2 and whenever i go to my contacts list to make a call both my gmail contacts and my facebook contacts are in the list. I have 500 facebook contacts and many of them are just people i have known in the past but dont talk to so I dont need them in my phones contact list. it also makes teh list HUGE having 500 more contacts. I want to change it so that when i go to my contact list I only see my gmail contacts.

In the Android music player, many of the albums (classical, mostly), were all jumbled together in an "Unknown artist" file. The instruction book for the phone says I should not use my computer to create new folders, or rename folders, on the SD. HOw, then do I delete and rearrange music files? I don't see a prompt for creating folders in the app on the phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have images uploaded on the simulated sdcard on my emulator. I downloaded them from the browser, using the long-click on each image.
When I look at the file explorer in the DDMS perspective, I see that they are in the directory sdcard/download.
Now if I want to download some audio files and use them in an app to, say list the title of all audio files, will they go in the same directory? (I am trying to push the audio files manually from my computer to the emulator).
This doesn't seem right. Shouldn't the media files of different types (pictures, audio, video) go into different directories?
Also, thinking this through a little, how is something like this related to the physical directory on the sdcard?
